Yu Wenhao turned his head and looked at the girl. The girl blushed, pointed casually out of the car, and said to Yu Wenhao:
"Sir, my car is parked here. Could you take my car? I just need to go home to get something. I'll be right back."
Yu was stunned. You have your own car, why do you need to call a taxi? Did you just drink? But it didn't seem like it; there was no smell of alcohol on the girl's breath when she spoke.
The girl pointed to the phone on the shelf in front of Yu Wenhao and continued talking to him:
"Sir, you can take this with you; we can start billing now."
Yu Wenhao was both amused and exasperated. He had been working part-time as a ride-hailing driver for over three years and had encountered many oddballs, but this was the first time he had met one like the girl he was dealing with. Looking at the girl's serious expression, which didn't seem like she was joking, Yu Wenhao nodded and said:
"Okay, then we'll drive your car there. Wait a minute, I'll refund the approximate gas cost to you via WeChat."
The girl quickly waved her hand: "No, no, really, I don't want your gas money, just start now."
Are there really people willing to be taken advantage of like this? Yu Wenhao shook his head and stopped insisting. He clicked "Start Service" on the app, and following the girl's instructions, drove to the parking lot of Huanglong Hotel, took the phone containing the driver's device and his own bag, and got out of the car with the girl.
As Yu walked, he pondered. The girl was probably tired and didn't want to drive, or perhaps she simply didn't want to drive alone at night, considering it was over forty kilometers from here to Lin'an. Or maybe she was just a new driver who had just gotten her license. Whatever the reason, it was definitely inconvenient for her to drive.
The two walked up to the girl's car, and Yu Wenhao's eyes lit up. He discovered that the girl's car was actually a red Ferrari.
"Wow, that's amazing!" Yu Wenhao couldn't help but exclaim. The girl turned her head and smiled sweetly at him.
"I'll drive, okay?"
The girl spoke to Yu Wenhao, who nodded quickly. He had never even ridden in such a nice car before, let alone driven it. He would probably tremble with fear if he were to drive such a nice car on the road.
After getting into the car, Yu Wenhao realized a real problem: if the car is yours and you are driving it yourself, then why would you need to call a car?
Just as the girl was about to start the car, Yu called out, "Wait, let me ask you a question first."
The girl turned to look at him: "What's the problem?"
Yu Wenhao waved her phone in her hand: "Don't you think that me sitting here is actually unnecessary? You don't need to call a car at all?"
"No, no, Master, I really can't."
The girl cried out, then puffed out her cheeks as if she were angry with someone. Yu Wenhao looked at her, and after a moment, the girl slowly exhaled, then said to herself:
"You don't know, if you hadn't come with me, I might... I might never have come out again."
She then turned to Yu with a serious expression and said, "Master, you can just sleep in the car, come with me there, and then come back with me, okay? You can keep calculating the fare until we get back here before the trip ends, is that alright?"
Yu Wen laughed and said, "Then wouldn't I really be making money while I'm asleep?"
The girl giggled.
"Are you serious?" Yu asked eagerly. "It's not too late to cancel the order now."
The girl hummed in agreement and nodded seriously.
Yu Wenhao said, "Okay, then it's like a pie fell from the sky and I just happened to catch it."
The girl smiled and started the car.
Yu Wenhao's phone pinged; it was the plug-in platform that had tagged him and sent him an order. Yu Wenhao quickly replied:
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, it's not needed anymore. The client just told me she needs to return home."
Before the platform's customer service could even respond, the order was immediately bought by another driver.
As the car drove out of the west gate of Huanglong Hotel, still on Hangda Road, Yu Wenhao had already fallen asleep.
Having worked part-time as a ride-hailing driver for so many years, Yu Wenhao has almost never had a full night's sleep. He gets home around 2 or 3 a.m. every day and has to get up promptly at 5:30 a.m. to start his early morning business. In between, he can take a nap for more than an hour at his workplace. This is his relatively fixed sleep time every day. Otherwise, he catches up on sleep whenever he can find a spare moment.
Yu Wenhao joked with Er Mao and San San that he is always in a state of preparing to sleep. As long as he has five or ten minutes of free time, he can fall asleep immediately, whether in the car or in the office, whether sitting in the driver's seat or in the office chair. He has long since mastered his sleeping skills.
He falls asleep in the driver's seat, and as soon as an order notification sounds, before his eyes are fully open, his first action is to grab the order, regardless of where it comes from or where it's going. He never lets sleeping delay him.
In the office, during working hours, he certainly couldn't close the door and lie down on the sofa to sleep. He would fall asleep sitting in his office chair. The office door was always open, and as soon as someone walked in, he would wake up immediately without being called.
"My mind is exceptionally clear. When I see someone come in, I don't waste a second. I immediately know their intentions and why they've come, and we immediately get into a discussion."
Yu Wenhao spoke proudly about Er Mao and San San, but listening to it, one felt a pang of sadness.
Yu Wenhao was awakened by the roar of the engine. He opened his eyes and saw that the car had already left the main urban area and was speeding along the highway. The car engine was working hard, making a deep and powerful hum.
He glanced at the girl; she was staring straight ahead, her eyes sparkling. Seeing that the odometer had already passed 140 and was almost 150, he quickly reminded her:
"Don't get photographed."
The girl turned her head and smiled at him: "It's okay, I know the locations of all the security cameras on this road."
"There will also be moving cameras," Yu Wenhao said.
"That's fine, it's not like I haven't been photographed before, I'm photographed all the time." The girl continued to laugh, "When there are too many, I'll have my dad handle it all at once and find a bunch of people to take the blame."
"If I commit a traffic violation now, it's not on someone else's driver's license and no points will be deducted?"
"The internet is fine, just make sure you get the gender right, just look for a female driver," the girl said nonchalantly.
Yu Wenhao shut up. He hadn't done this before and had no right to speak. Others had their own paths, and it was impossible for him to know. What he found difficult was nothing more than a simple matter in other people's eyes.
After saying this, the girl fell silent again. She pursed her lips and focused on driving. Yu Wenhao watched her from the side and felt that after the car picked up speed, she was in a state of excitement, but also seemed a little nervous and uneasy, for some unknown reason.
This person and this event remain a mystery to him.
Despite his curiosity, Yu Wenhao couldn't resist his drowsiness, and soon he fell asleep again amidst the low rumble of the engine.
