003 Director Yu
003 Director Yu
Yu Wenhao drove back to his workplace, parked his car in the multi-level parking garage, got out of the car, and walked towards his office.
The printing company is located on the edge of the Xiasha Economic and Technological Development Zone, covering an area of more than 30 acres. It belongs to the Hangzhou Daily Newspaper Group. After the newspaper group went public through a backdoor listing and established a media company, the printing company became a wholly-owned subsidiary of the media company.
Directly opposite the main gate is a three-story office building, with a square workshop on each side.
The building on the left is their first workshop, which is also their main business and the main reason for their existence. Inside, there is a Commander printing production line consisting of three parts: a roll paper rack, a printing tower, and a folding machine, and a Comet newspaper printing production line with thermosetting properties.
Both of these sets of equipment were manufactured by the German company KBA.
Workshop 1 is now closed. Every day from evening to early morning, the production line flows continuously, turning rolls of newsprint as tall as a person into the "Hangzhou Daily", "City Express", "Metropolitan Business Daily" and the three daily newspapers of the former suburban counties under Hangzhou's jurisdiction.
Every night, the workshop on the right was pitch black, while the entire factory area and office building, as well as the workshop on the left, were brightly lit. Large trucks carrying paper came and went, and their own fleet of vehicles also kept coming and going, trying to deliver the printed newspapers to various distribution points in different districts of Hangzhou and the surrounding suburban counties before dawn.
Compared to the night, the factory area is much quieter during the day. After the workshop on the left quiets down, the workshop on the right, their second workshop, starts operating during the day.
In the second workshop, there is a Heidelberg SM74 four-color offset printing press and a Heidelberg Speedmaster CD102 printing press. They are engaged in the side business of their printing company, printing various books, brochures and promotional materials.
Yu Wenhao's office is not in the office building, but in the workshop on the right. He is the workshop director of the second workshop.
Yu Wenhao entered the workshop, but instead of going to his office, he first walked around the workshop to see if all the staff in each position were present and to check if all the equipment was in good working order.
When the supervisor of the SM74 four-color offset printing machine saw Yu Wenhao arrive, he brought over the sample and production order that the customer had already signed. Yu Wenhao checked the production order, signed it, and confirmed that it could be put into operation.
The supervisor gestured an OK sign to the worker standing in front of the control panel, and the worker pressed the button.
The supervisor of the Speedmaster CD102 printing press across the street was also waiting on the side with a sample and production order. After greeting and signing, he took the production order back.
Yu Wenhao stood there, watching the two Heidelberg printing presses start running, before turning and walking away.
After going around in circles for about an hour, Yu Wenhao returned to his office and looked at the clock on the wall. It was almost 10 a.m. Yu Wenhao sat down at his desk, but after less than ten minutes, he felt restless and couldn't sit still because he was always thinking about something.
He stood up again and went around the workshop once more. After making sure everything was alright, he picked up his phone and gestured to the supervisors standing at the two machines on either side. The two supervisors nodded, understanding that he was going out or to the office building next door, and that they should call him if they needed anything.
After greeting Yu, he walked out of the workshop and headed towards the multi-level parking garage.
Behind the office building, there is a large parking lot, but now it is used as a parking area for the fleet of delivery vans and unloading areas for large paper trucks. All employees' private cars are parked in this four-story multi-level parking garage with more than a hundred parking spaces.
When the parking lot attendant, Lao Ren, saw Yu Wenhao arrive, he nodded and smiled at him, saying, "Director Yu, are you heading out?"
Yu Wenhao nodded and agreed. He was still thinking about it and wanted to continue looking for Diandian in Qianjiang New City. The lack of news about the missing Diandian made Yu Wenhao feel uneasy.
The garage made a clattering sound as various transmission chains inside moved horizontally and vertically. Every time Yu Wenhao stood in front of the garage and heard the clattering sound, he would think of the word "guts churning" and feel as if his car was crawling.
After a while, Yu Wenhao's car arrived in front of him. Just as Yu Wenhao was about to get in and drive, his phone rang. Yu Wenhao looked at it and saw that it was Dian Dian's mother. He quickly answered it.
"Hello, Diandian's mom, have we found Diandian yet?" Yu Wenhao asked anxiously.
"Found her! Found her! Dian Dian is home!" Dian Dian's mother exclaimed on the other end of the phone.
"Great!" Yu Wenhao exclaimed. "I was just about to go out and continue searching."
"Thank you, thank you, Master Yu. You're so kind. I knew you could do it, so I wanted to call you and let you know."
Yu greeted him with "Mmm," then asked, "Where did Diandian go?"
"Right here in MixC, this child, do you think there's a case like this, where she hid herself..."
"Why did she hide herself?" Yu asked.
"She wouldn't say anything, no matter how we asked her. She was hiding inside the reception desk at the entrance of a restaurant, no wonder we couldn't find her anywhere. It wasn't until they came to work this morning that they found her curled up inside, already asleep. They told the security guard, who was with us. He had searched for her all night and knew it was her. He called me, and that's how I got her."
"It's good that you found it," Yu Wenhao said.
"Yes, yes, it's good that we found her. This child probably didn't sleep much last night, she was exhausted. She's had a bath now and is asleep, sleeping soundly." Dian Dian's mother laughed as she spoke. "By the way, Mr. Yu, I called to ask if you could still come pick up Dian Dian tomorrow morning. Please don't worry about her father..."
"I understand. I'll still be there on time tomorrow. Like I said, as long as Dian Dian is alright, that's all that matters." Yu Wenhao interrupted Dian Dian's mother.
"Okay, thank you, Master Yu. Goodbye."
"Okay, goodbye."
After hanging up the phone, Yu greeted Lao Ren and said, "Thank you for your trouble, Master Ren. I won't go out."
Old Ren pointed towards the garage and laughed, "What's the trouble? It's moving, not me."
Yu Wen smiled, waved to Lao Ren, and turned to walk towards the workshop. At this time, the delivery vans were still coming in from outside the gate one after another.
Yu Wenhao returned to his office and sat down, letting out a long sigh of relief. He felt wonderful; Dian Dian had been found, it was truly wonderful.
Yu Wenhao sat there and couldn't help but laugh.
He visited Dian Dian every morning for over a year, and a bond developed between them. He liked this polite little girl very much, and Dian Dian liked him very much too.
Every day, when he parks his car at the entrance of Taohua Alley on Tiyuchang Road, even if the traffic police urge him to hurry up and leave, he will still get out of the car, saying to the traffic police that he will be there soon, and take Dian Dian to the entrance of the alley. Only after watching her walk in with her schoolbag and disappear into the crowd of students going to school will he feel at ease, return to his car, and drive away.
Every day when Yu Wenhao looks at Dian Dian's back, he always thinks of his daughter Qian Qian. Whenever he thinks of Qian Qian, his heart is filled with sorrow, and he can't help but let out a long sigh.
Qianqian is a year younger than Diandian. If she hadn't been sick, she would be a primary school student now, going to school with her backpack at this time every day. If that were the case, Yu Wenhao thought, she wouldn't have time to take Diandian to school every morning; she would have to take her daughter Qianqian instead. She didn't even know if she would end up working part-time as a ride-hailing driver.
Yu Wenhao felt that this was something that made her both happy and somewhat regretful.
I'm happy because my daughter Qianqian isn't sick and can go to school and play like other normal children. Unfortunately, if I hadn't become a ride-hailing driver, I wouldn't have had the chance to meet Diandian.
