Chapter 461 Swamp City 3

Chapter 461 Swamp City 3

Lin Zhi stood before the eerie swamp, his brow furrowed. This swamp had always been a troublesome place for the insectoids, and the surrounding city walls were dilapidated from years of erosion. Yan Jun watched from the side, his weapon gripping tightly; he knew that repairing the walls would be no easy task.

"Linzhi, the power of this swamp is not simple. We must proceed with caution," Yan Jun said in a low voice.

Lin Zhi nodded slightly, his gaze sweeping over the surroundings. "Let's first see if there are any materials that can reinforce the city walls."

Just then, the Zerg brothers Wang Jun and Wang Kai walked over. Wang Jun scratched his head and said, "Boss, we've looked around the area, but we haven't found any usable materials."

Wang Kai continued, "Yeah, this place is too eerie. It feels like everything has been assimilated by this swamp."

Lin Zhi pondered for a moment and said, "Go deep into the swamp and see if there are any special plants or minerals that might come in handy. But you must be very careful, as there are countless dangers lurking in this swamp."

Wang Jun and Wang Kai exchanged a glance, nodded, and walked deeper into the swamp.

On the other side, the four Zerg siblings, Li Yi, Li Ming, Li Hua, and Li Li, were also busy. Li Yi shouted, "Sisters, let's gather all the stones we can find and see if we can use them to fill the gaps in the city wall."

Li Ming replied, "Alright, if this city wall isn't repaired, we'll be in danger."

Hua Yuan and Zhang Yuan were collecting stones and carrying them to the city wall.

Zhang Ying carried a large stone over, panting heavily, and said, "This stone is really heavy, but it's worth the effort to repair the city wall."

Lin Zhi felt a surge of warmth as he watched everyone busily working. But he knew this was only the first step in repairing the city wall.

Wang Jun and Wang Kai cautiously made their way through the depths of the swamp. Suddenly, Wang Jun slipped and nearly fell into a bottomless mud pit. Wang Kai reacted quickly and grabbed him.

"Oh dear, I almost died here," Wang Jun said, still shaken.

Wang Kai glared at him: "You be careful, this place is full of traps."

As they continued onward, Wang Kai discovered a plant emitting a strange light. The plant had thick roots and leaves that were a deep purple.

“Brother, look at this plant, it might be useful,” Wang Kai said, pointing to the plant.

Wang Jun leaned closer to examine it carefully and said, "This thing doesn't look simple. Let's take it back and show it to the boss."

The two carefully uprooted the plant and carried it back to the city wall.

Lin Zhi's eyes lit up when he saw the plant. "This plant might be the key to repairing the city wall. Yan Jun, come and see what's so special about this plant."

Yan Jun stepped forward, carefully examined the plant, and said, "The energy fluctuations of this plant are very peculiar. It should be able to react with the materials of the city wall in some way, enhancing the strength of the city wall."

Everyone listened with great anticipation.

Li said, "Then let's give it a try, maybe the city wall can be repaired."

So Linzhi and Yan Jun began to study how to use this plant to repair the city wall. They applied the plant's sap to the damaged parts of the wall and then reinforced it with stones and other materials.

With everyone's joint efforts, the city wall slowly began to recover. The originally dilapidated areas gradually became stronger, and the gaps were filled.

However, just as the city wall was nearing completion, a massive black mist suddenly surged from the swamp. A low, guttural roar could be faintly heard from within the mist, sending chills down one's spine.

"Oh no, what's going on in this swamp?" Yan Jun said nervously.

Lin Zhi clenched his fist and said, "Everyone be careful, this black fog is definitely dangerous."

The black mist spread rapidly, chilling the air wherever it went. Wang Jun and Wang Kai, weapons in hand, watched the mist warily.

"Brother, there seems to be something moving in this fog," Wang Kai said in a low voice.

Wang Jun nodded, a hint of nervousness in his eyes.

Suddenly, several enormous black insects darted out of the mist. These insects had incredibly hard exoskeletons and emitted a nauseating odor.

"Everyone be careful, it's a mutated insect from the swamp!" Lin Zhi shouted.

The Zerg members assumed their fighting stances and engaged in fierce combat with the mutated Zerg.

Li brandished his weapon and charged at a mutated insect, shouting, "Watch how I deal with you guys!"

The mutated insect opened its enormous pincers and lunged at Li. Li nimbly dodged, then seized the opportunity to slash the mutated insect with his knife.

Li Ming was not to be outdone; he fired beams of energy that struck several mutated insects.

Hua Yuan and Zhang Yuan worked together, using stones and vines to attack the mutated insects in an attempt to disrupt their movements.

Yan Jun and Lin Zhi also joined the battle. Their attacks were incredibly powerful, and each strike dealt a heavy blow to the mutated insects.

In the midst of the fierce battle, a mutated insect suddenly charged towards the city wall, attempting to destroy the newly repaired section. Upon seeing this, Lin Zhi rushed forward without hesitation, using his body to block the mutated insect's attack.

"Boss!" Wang Jun shouted and rushed over to help.

With everyone working together, they finally eliminated all the mutated insects.

Lin Zhi stood up. Although he had some wounds, his eyes remained firm. "The city wall is now repaired. We need to be even more careful. We don't know what dangers this swamp might bring."

Yan Jun nodded and said, "That's right, everyone should be on high alert."

The Zerg horde gazed at the repaired city walls, their hearts filled with a sense of accomplishment. They knew that many unknown challenges awaited them in this Zerg world, but they were confident that with unity and courage, they would overcome all difficulties.

Over time, the Zerg gradually established themselves on this land. They used the repaired walls to defend against threats from the swamp and other places time and again.

Lin Zhi often stood on the city wall, gazing into the distance, contemplating the future development of the Zerg. Yan Jun assisted him, jointly planning the Zerg's construction.

The Zerg brothers and sisters also played their respective roles. Wang Jun and Wang Kai were responsible for patrolling and exploring the surrounding area, while Li Yi, Li Ming, Li Hua, and Li Li were responsible for internal life and material management. Hua Yuan and Zhang Yuan helped maintain the city walls and handle some miscellaneous tasks.

In this challenging Zerg world, their story continues, and the restored swamp wall will become a sturdy barrier protecting their homeland, witnessing the Zerg's gradual rise to power.

The surrounding fog was so thick it was almost tangible; with each step, one could feel the ground trembling beneath their feet, as if some unknown danger was lurking beneath the surface.

"This place is too eerie," Yan Jun said in a low voice, his eyes scanning the surroundings warily.

Lin Zhi nodded slightly and gripped the weapon in her hand tightly. "Everyone be careful, no one knows what might suddenly appear."

Zhang Ying frowned, "It feels like something is watching us from here."

Just then, a low, guttural roar echoed from not far away, reverberating through the mist and sending chills down their spines. The three immediately stopped and stared nervously in the direction from which the sound came.

"What is it?" Yan Jun asked softly.

Lin Zhi didn't answer, but stared intently ahead, trying to see the situation through the fog. Suddenly, a huge claw emerged from the fog and slammed into the ground, leaving five deep claw marks.

"It's the Zerg!" Lin Zhi shouted. "Everyone, prepare for battle!"

As he finished speaking, a swarm of enormous insectoids burst forth from the mist. These insectoids were even larger than those they had encountered before, covered in hard scales, and emitted a nauseating stench.

Wang Jun and Wang Kai, the Zerg brothers, were also among the Zerg swarm, brandishing their weapons as they charged towards Lin Zhi and the others.

"Hmph, humans, today is your death day!" Wang Jun roared.

Lin Zhi snorted coldly, "It's still uncertain who will emerge victorious!"

The two sides instantly descended into a chaotic battle. Lin Zhi moved with agility, her sword flashing like lightning as she stabbed at the insectoids, each strike accurately hitting their vital points. Yan Jun wielded a broadsword, his attacks sweeping and powerful, engaging in fierce combat with the approaching insectoids. Zhang Ying, armed with dual pistols, fired relentlessly, bullets whistling through the swarm, forcing the insectoids to retreat in disarray.

However, the insectoids were numerous and quickly regrouped, launching another attack. A giant insectoid swung its thick arm, smashing it down towards Lin Zhi. Lin Zhi dodged to the side, simultaneously slashing at the insectoid's arm with his sword. The insectoid roared in pain, its other arm reaching for Lin Zhi. Lin Zhi quickly retreated, narrowly avoiding the attack.

"These Zerg are too troublesome!" Yan Jun shouted, his body already covered in wounds, his clothes stained with blood.

"Hold on, everyone! We can't back down!" Lin Zhi shouted, boosting morale.

Just as the battle reached a stalemate, the four Zerg siblings, Li Yi, Li Ming, Li Hua, and Li Li, joined the fight. Their arrival further complicated the situation.

"Humans, you will not escape today!" Li shouted, his eyes flashing with a fierce light.

Seeing this, Hua Yuan and Zhang Yuan also joined the battle, fighting alongside Lin Zhi and the others. In an instant, the battlefield was filled with the glint of swords and the deafening shouts of battle.

While fighting, Lin Zhi observed the surrounding situation. He noticed that the Zerg seemed to be intentionally driving them in one direction.

“Something’s not right. They seem to be leading us somewhere,” Linzhi exclaimed.

Yan Jun nodded. "No matter where we go, we can't be passive."

The group fought and retreated, gradually being led by the Zerg to an even more sinister area. The fog here grew thicker, and the ground was covered with swamps of all sizes, emitting a pungent odor.

Suddenly, countless black tentacles emerged from the swamp and began to coil around the group. The tentacles moved with incredible speed, and in the blink of an eye, they had ensnared several people.

"Ah!" Zhang Ying screamed as she was tightly bound by a tentacle and unable to move.

"Zhang Ying!" Lin Zhi was extremely anxious. He desperately cut off the tentacles that were wrapping around him and rushed towards Zhang Ying.

Just then, a giant insectoid creature emerged from the mist. Its body was as large as a small mountain, with huge horns on its head and green venom spewing from its mouth.

"This is... the leader of the Zerg?" Yan Jun said in surprise.

The insectoid leader roared, shaking the entire swamp. It brandished its enormous claws and lunged at the group. Lin Zhi and the others fought back with all their might, but under the insectoid leader's powerful attacks, they gradually became overwhelmed.

"No, we'll all die if this continues!" Lin Zhi shouted, a resolute look in his eyes.

Just when everyone was in dire straits, a flash of light appeared, and a mysterious figure appeared on the battlefield. This figure was dressed in a black robe, his face obscured, and he held a staff that emitted a strange light in his hand.

The black-robed figure waved his staff, chanting incantations. Instantly, the surrounding mist began to dissipate, and the tentacles in the swamp retracted. The insectoids seemed to be suppressed by some powerful force and began to panic.

"Who are you?" Lin Zhi asked warily.

The man in black robes did not answer, but continued to wave his staff, sending beams of light towards the insectoid race. Under the attack of the light, the insectoids fell to the ground one after another.

Seeing this, Wang Jun and Wang Kai shouted, "Retreat!"

Led by them, the Zerg quickly fled the battlefield.

The man in black robes slowly lowered his staff and looked at Lin Zhi and the others, asking, "Are you alright?"

Lin Zhi shook her head. "Thank you for your help, senior. May I ask who you are?"

The man in black robes was silent for a moment. “I was just a traveler who happened to be passing by. I saw you were in danger and decided to lend a hand.”

After speaking, the man in black turned to leave. Lin Zhi hurriedly called out, "Senior, why is the area outside this swamp city so strange? What conspiracy does the insectoid race have here?"

The man in black robes stopped. "The strangeness here stems from a mysterious power hidden beneath this swamp. The insectoids seem to be trying to use this power to achieve some purpose. As for what exactly it is, I'm not entirely sure. Be careful and leave here as soon as possible."

After saying that, the man in black robes disappeared into the mist.

Lin Zhi and the others stared in the direction the man in black had disappeared, their hearts filled with doubt. But at that moment, they also knew that their top priority was to leave this dangerous area.

"Let's find a safe place to rest and tend to our wounds," Lin Zhi said.

The group nodded, dragging their weary bodies, and headed in other directions outside the swamp city. They didn't know what awaited them ahead, but they understood that only by continuing forward could they find a way out of this bizarre insectoid world.

On the journey that followed, they carefully avoided various dangers and constantly explored their surroundings. Each time they encountered a new situation, they overcame difficulties with their unwavering will and spirit of teamwork.

As time went on, they gradually discovered some secrets about the Zerg world, clues that seemed to point to a distant place. Lin Zhi firmly believed that as long as they followed these clues, they would surely find the key to leaving this world.

In this process, they also grew, and their trust and understanding for each other deepened. They knew that the road ahead was still full of unknowns and challenges, but they were prepared to work together, no matter what difficulties they encountered, and strive towards returning home.

After countless adventures and battles, they finally saw a turning point. By chance, they discovered ancient runes that seemed to have some connection to the origins of the Zerg world.

Lin Zhi and his team began to study these runes in depth. After much hard work, they finally cracked the secret of the runes. It turned out that these runes were the key to opening a passage to another world.

The group was thrilled. Following the runes, they arrived at a mysterious place. Here, light shone brightly, and space was distorted, as if it were a gateway to another dimension.

"We're finally going home!" Lin Zhi said excitedly.

He led the group into the light, and as the light flickered, their figures gradually disappeared from the insectoid world. When the light faded, they found themselves in a world that was both strange and familiar.

Lin Zhi looked around at everything, his heart filled with emotion. They had successfully crossed the insectoid world, overcoming countless hardships and dangers, and finally returned home.

Yan Jun let out a long sigh of relief, "This journey has been incredibly difficult."

Zhang Ying also smiled with relief, "Yes, we're finally back now."
