Chapter 80 Rat Spirit, Toothbrush and Chopsticks Building
Chapter 80 Rat Spirit, Toothbrush and Chopsticks Building
Having cultivated for many years, Zhou Fengchen was extremely sensitive to danger and ghostly auras. As soon as he grasped the iron shovel, he felt an unusual chill. Looking back, he found that the two people's clothes were very dry, as were their hair.
The three of them had been getting soaked in the rain for quite a while. Surely these two couldn't have changed their clothes and dried their hair while looking for tools?
The night was dark, and the expressions of the two people opposite could not be seen. Only the monk Yuanzhi chuckled and said, "What are you talking about, brother? Who else could I be but Yuanzhi?"
Jiang Hao also said, "Brother, hurry up and dig, so we can go back to sleep!"
Zhou Fengchen drew the goose-wing saber from his waist, sneered, "This saber of mine is specially made to kill evil spirits. You two want to have a taste?"
The two people opposite them exchanged a glance, then involuntarily took a step back. "What's wrong? Why... did they use a knife?"
"Use knives? I'll chop you all to death! You beasts! Show your true forms now!"
As Zhou Fengchen spoke, he swung his sword and slashed.
"Chirp chirp chirp..."
The two people opposite suddenly screamed and instantly transformed into two gray-furred rats the size of mongrel dogs, then turned and ran away.
Zhou Fengchen's heart skipped a beat. It was indeed a lie. Yuan Zhi and the other two must have been in trouble. He quickly rushed out and slashed out with his sword.
The large rat behind it was cleanly and neatly chopped in two, its internal organs and blood spraying everywhere. Even so, it still managed to crawl forward a few meters before finally dying.
Just as the other rat was about to run away, Zhou Fengchen flicked his wrist and threw the knife, pinning it firmly to the ground.
Approaching the large, squeaking rat, its blood splattered everywhere, Zhou Fengchen asked, "Can it speak human language?"
It would have been better not to ask. But the moment the question was asked, the big rat struggled desperately, tearing its heart open. After a few twitches, it was completely dead.
"Oh shit!"
Zhou Fengchen cursed, drew his sword, and shouted in all directions, "Yuan Zhi? Jiang Hao?"
The entire courtyard was quiet, and no one responded, creating an eerie atmosphere.
Zhou Fengchen thought for a moment and concluded that these large rats must have crawled out of some cave, and his little sister was probably there. Yuan Zhi and the other two had also fallen into a trap.
He carried a knife and moved with incredible speed, wandering around the entire courtyard, searching and shouting as he went.
They arrived at the westernmost house, where a faint noise could be heard. Zhou Fengchen jumped and quickly ran over, kicking open the door.
The place was empty, with nothing inside. He wondered how the sound had come from. He took two steps inside and suddenly slipped. Looking down, he vaguely saw what looked like a mess of muddy footprints.
Following the muddy path forward, I reached the innermost wall and it disappeared. Looking up, I saw a large triangular stone slab on the table in front of me, with a strange man with a pointed mouth, monkey cheeks, and a big belly carved on it.
There's also a memorial tablet next to it: Guardian Spirit Tablet!
"A guardian spirit? There really is such a thing!"
Zhou Fengchen frowned, picked up the stone, and found nothing unusual except that it was a bit heavy. He put the stone down and looked at the ground at the base of the wall.
I noticed that the seam of a marble floorboard wasn't joined quite right, so I used the tip of a knife to pry it open, and it came apart easily.
Below was a round hole that shone faintly and looked very deep.
Suddenly, two huge rat heads popped out from inside, looking out as if curious about why the floorboards had opened.
Zhou Fengchen glared and slashed with his backhand. The two large rats didn't even have time to scream before their heads were chopped off in half, and their corpses rolled down.
Pulling back the table and peering down into the cave, they discovered a sloping tunnel that was narrow at the top and wide inside, with strange, glowing scale stones embedded in the soil on both sides.
He thought to himself that there was probably something else going on inside, so he stuffed the knife into his waistband and crawled down into the hole.
After kicking aside two giant dead rats, and turning a corner, a passageway with a faint glow appeared ahead. It was about two meters long and wide, and its shape was irregular. Both sides were covered with rotten yellow paper talismans, which no one knew which master had put them up, and they all looked like they had lost their power.
At that moment, a faint "whooshing" sound came from ahead.
Zhou Fengchen looked ahead and saw that Monk Yuanzhi and Jiang Hao were tightly bound with tattered strips of cloth, and more than a dozen large rats were dragging them forward.
With a rag stuffed in his mouth, Monk Yuanzhi's eyes lit up when he saw Zhou Fengchen coming down, and he shouted incoherently, "Lu...di..."
The large rats also saw Zhou Fengchen, and immediately split into five, walking upright, and fiercely pounced, "squeak squeak squeak..."
Zhou Fengchen didn't take these things seriously. He drew his Goose Wing Blade, assumed a starting stance, and darted over in a flash.
In twenty seconds, not only were the five rats that pounced on them killed, but the rats dragging Yuan Zhi and the other man also fell to the ground, all with a single, clean cut to the throat.
A bunch of large rat carcasses lay scattered on the ground, looking quite gruesome.
After Yuan Zhi and the other man were untied, Jiang Hao burst into tears. Zhou Fengchen quickly covered his mouth and said, "You fucking keep your voice down."
The monk Yuanzhi slapped his arm and whispered, "These rat spirits are too cunning! Xiao Jiang and I were ambushed when we were looking for the shovel. We couldn't fight them off, but luckily they didn't use their mouths, or we would both be bitten to death by now!"
Zhou Fengchen released Jiang Hao and said, "Not only are you cunning, you're also insidious. You just transformed into your appearances to try and trick me!"
Monk Yuanzhi glanced into the depths of the tunnel and said dejectedly, "What kind of hellhole is this? Where did all these rat spirits come from?"
Zhou Fengchen thought of the stone above and had a vague guess in his mind, but he wasn't sure. So he said, "I don't know, but I'm sure my sister is inside."
Monk Yuanzhi quickly got up. "That's terrifying! What would happen if two beautiful young women were caught and thrown into a rat's nest?"
It would have been better if he hadn't said anything, because once he did, Zhou Fengchen felt like he was being pricked by needles. "Let's go inside right away!"
Then he turned back to Jiang Hao and asked, "Are you alright? If not, go up first!"
Jiang Hao shuddered slightly and quickly said, "I can do it, really, please don't abandon me!"
The three of them carefully ran inside. The tunnel was very long, and the further they went in, the larger the space became. At the end, a small door appeared.
This little door is very strange; it's made entirely of all sorts of chopsticks and toothbrushes, densely packed together, somewhat like a tray used in rural areas for storing steamed buns.
Monk Yuanzhi lowered his voice and said, "These rats are disgusting. They specialize in stealing chopsticks and toothbrushes. They're so immoral."
He cautiously peeked through the door, then turned around and groaned, "Does either of you have trypophobia?"
Zhou Fengchen was preparing talismans when he heard the sound and paused for a moment. "What? Trypophobia? Are there a lot of rats in there?"
"There aren't too many rats," said Monk Yuanzhi. "But if you have trypophobia, you might faint inside."
Zhou Fengchen and Jiang Hao, seeing that he was talking strangely, also went over and looked through the crack in the door. They saw that the space inside was the size of three or four basketball courts, with small houses about the height of a person one after another, and at the very back there was a strangely styled three-story building.
Whether it's the houses, the small buildings, or the ground, everything is built with chopsticks and toothbrushes, creating a dense and dazzling sight.
