Chapter 28: Let's Talk About Terms
Chapter 28: Let's Talk About Terms
"What the hell is going on?! Where is the enemy?! Can anyone the hell say a word?!"
Thunett knew very well that he had to remain calm and composed while piloting a Titan, but he simply couldn't stay calm right now.
From the cockpit's perspective, all they knew was that a battle had taken place a few minutes earlier at the Titan Order's cathedral, after which all communications were completely lost, whether it was the Mechanic, the Tech-Sergeant, or the Astartes sent by the Fourteenth Legion to provide support.
The Emperor-class Titans, with their mountain-like bodies, fell silent, but this silence only fueled their fear every second.
Moreover, is this really their own emotion?
Tunet looked at Jonah beside him, whose hands and feet were trembling uncontrollably, and a crazy idea suddenly popped into his head.
Could it be that this is the incarnation of the God of Machines, the soul of the Emperor-class Titan Judgment Day...?
Are you scared?
"Let's run away, Captain Tourette!"
Finally, Jonah, pale-faced, spoke in a stammering voice.
"That guy isn't even human; he's a monster we can't possibly handle. He can't possibly control the Judgment Day anyway. Let's find somewhere to hide and save our lives!"
Tunet frowned. Although it was a cowardly act of desertion, it was indeed the best solution from a rational perspective.
To pilot an Emperor-class Titan, in addition to years of rigorous training, one must undergo a series of physical modifications, such as a data transmission interface at the back of the head, in order to become a component of the divine machine.
As long as they find a place to hide on the massive Imperial Titan, the enemy will be helpless and unable to destroy this behemoth with individual equipment. Then they can simply wait for the Fourteenth Legion or the Orbital Rebels to provide support once communications are restored.
"Well!"
But at that moment, a strong electrical pulse stimulated Tunet's brain along the data cable at the back of his head.
"No!"
Tunet, panting heavily, spoke resolutely in a hoarse voice.
"Where could be safer than here? And as you said, only we can pilot this divine machine, so the initiative is in our hands!"
"but--"
Buzz—Squeak!
Jonah was about to say something when he was interrupted by the piercing sound of metal being cut.
The two men simultaneously grabbed their sidearms and stood up, pointing in terror at the entrance to the cockpit.
Of course, they all knew that such a weapon was meaningless to the fully armed Astartes.
A bright orange line appeared out of thin air on the edge of the adamantine hatch, then quickly extended along the door frame, drawing a glowing rectangle a few seconds later.
boom!!
"When will the designers of the Empire realize that if the material of the door is too sturdy, the wall next to it will become the door itself?"
Sun Qian kicked open the metal cabin door—or rather, kicked it down—and swaggered into the cockpit.
You can see that he is holding a high-performance thermoplastic weapon that is more like a scepter than a gun. It is obvious that this is the weapon style of the Mechanicus, but the dark mechanical priest who was the original owner of it obviously has no objection.
"Alright, let's get straight to the point and talk about terms... hmm?"
As soon as Sun Qian stepped into the cockpit, his gaze was quickly drawn to something in the corner.
It was a corpse.
Compared to the mountains of corpses and seas of blood he had seen at the Titan Church, this man was much luckier.
There were only three gunshot wounds to his chest, and his expression didn't suggest he was in pain.
There is only one kind of resolute martyrdom.
thump.
Sun Qian's silence caused Jonah to break down under the psychological pressure, and his legs went weak, causing him to kneel on the ground.
"Please, please spare me! I never intended to betray you, I just wanted to survive..."
What a coward.
Tunett wanted to yell at the co-pilot, but the words stuck in his throat.
This guy just said he wanted to talk, so maybe I can feign compliance to buy some time—
"who is he?"
Sun Qian's sudden question caught both Tunet and Jonah off guard.
After all, none of them expected that this monster, who had single-handedly boarded an Emperor-class Titan and was invincible all the way, would be interested in a dead ordinary pilot.
"You've forgotten? Then let me tell you for you."
Sun Qian solemnly performed the Eagle Salute to the corpse, then spoke slowly and coldly.
"This is Titus Casa, the co-pilot of the Judgment Day. When Horus dropped the virus bomb, he refused to join the ranks of traitors and acted as an accomplice. Even though he was all alone, he still fought back and was eventually murdered by his brother, whom he considered his own brother, and died a heroic death."
Every word Sun Qian uttered drained the color from Jonah's face, and his lips trembled as he seemed unsure how to explain.
"Jonah Aruken, do you have any regrets about killing your noble and devoted friend?"
Jonah stood there stunned for several seconds before snapping out of his daze and running to Kasa's body, weeping bitterly.
"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry, brother... I was confused back then, I had no idea whose orders to take... I made an irreparable mistake... I'm willing to do anything to atone for it... Please forgive me, brother..."
Sun Qian stared at Jonah, and after a moment, a gentle smile appeared on his face.
"It seems this is not a lie. You are just a poor soul who has been bewitched by Horus and has done wrong. The Emperor will surely welcome you back into his embrace."
"Of course, I am willing to swear allegiance to the Emperor to the death, and I will never again—ah?"
However, when Jonah wiped away his tears and looked up, all he saw was the black muzzle of a bomb gun.
"If your soul can return to the throne, please pay my respects to Mr. Casa."
boom! ! !
Jonah's head was mostly blown off, while Captain Tunet, his body splattered with blood and brain matter, stared in disbelief. When he finally came to his senses and tried to say something—
Bang bang bang! !
Four incredibly precise shots struck Tunet's limbs, and before the extreme pain signals reached his brain, he had already fallen face down to the ground like a pupa.
"Alright, let's get back to the main topic and discuss the terms."
"Ughhhhhh!!! You madman!! What's there to talk about!! Kill me!! But you'll never be able to control the God Machine..."
"I wasn't talking to you, you traitor."
Tunet's screams abruptly stopped as he realized the voice was very familiar.
He struggled to lift his head, then stared wide-eyed, his face contorted in a look of utter disbelief.
To be more precise, it was truly a ghost sighting.
Because standing beside Jonah's body was not Astartes, but someone he could never forget.
And absolutely should not get up again.
"Ka...Sa? How is this possible..."
Sun Qian naturally saw no need to explain to him.
Using the Stand ability of [New Three Kingdoms Sun Qian], and by taking advantage of Tunet's impression, he transformed into Sun Qian of Kasa and removed the data cable from Jonah's remaining half of his scalp.
He wasn't sure if it was just his imagination, but the data cable seemed to wriggle in his hand as if it were alive, or like a venomous snake ready to devour him.
But Sun Qian took a deep breath and activated the [Standard Version Sun Qian] card in the system.
At the same time, plug the cable into the port at the back of your head that originally belonged to Casa.
"Let's negotiate. The Emperor-class Titan Judgment Day."
