Chapter 62 Delivery
Chapter 62 Delivery
"Two?"
Mrs. Howard opened her mouth in surprise. As if realizing that she had lost her composure, she quickly raised her right hand and held up the fan in her hand to cover her expression.
She blinked, looked at Suren with surprise still lingering in her eyes, glanced at the gentlemen and waiters around her, and said softly, hidden by her fan, "It's not convenient here. Let's go upstairs to a private room to talk."
Without waiting for Suren's response, Mrs. Howard lifted her long dress and walked straight upstairs. Suren followed behind her, keeping a distance of half a meter, and went upstairs as well.
Arriving at a room with a sign that read "Mrs. Howard," Mrs. Howard opened the door, and the two entered the room one after the other.
The room contained only a small round table and four chairs, the materials of which were quite exquisite. A landscape painting hung on the wall, and a small vase with a bunch of violets was placed on the table.
Mrs. Howard pulled out a chair with a velvet cushion, sat down gently, and quickly took a bag from her purse.
"Endless Pocket"? Suren recognized the bag; it was the alchemical item he had seen at the Mist Trading Center.
Suren later inquired about this item and found that compared to Suren's "Mandala Ring," the "Endless Pocket" was much inferior. Not only did it lack the convenient ability to directly summon items, but its storage space was also only about one cubic meter, and it had a one-year expiration date. It could be said to be an item with a very poor cost-performance ratio.
This only shows that the "Eternal Oath Knights" don't really care about this amount of gold.
Without further hesitation, Suren conjured two blood-red, egg-shaped objects in his hand. These were the "Oath Bloodstones." Although they were quite large, they were surprisingly lightweight.
Mrs. Howard was startled by the sudden appearance of the two "Oath Bloodstones". She looked up at Suren without saying a word, then stood up and carefully examined their color and shape.
A moment later, she reached out and touched it. The touch was warm and had a slight rhythm. She nodded. She turned around and reached into the "endless pocket," rummaging around for a while before pulling out a stack of banknotes.
She pointed out 1400 gold pounds in banknotes, handed the tangled banknotes to Suren, and said somewhat apologetically, "I'm so sorry, because there aren't any large banks in Loren Town, they can't provide checks, and I imagine it's inconvenient for you to cash them, so this is the only way I can pay you."
The impoverished town of Loren doesn't really need any large banks; it mainly consists of small, local banks that are relatively obscure.
Suren nodded and took the stack of banknotes.
Even if bank transfers were possible, Suren didn't have an account.
Upon arriving in "Libraton," opening a bank account would be a priority. Suren made up his mind to himself.
After watching Mrs. Howard put the two "Oath Bloodstones" into her pocket, Suren asked the question that had been bothering her most: "So, Madam, when will the nobleman you mentioned be able to arrange a meeting between us?"
"I'm afraid it will be a few days later." Mrs. Howard shook her head helplessly and said, "I just met that gentleman. He's been quite busy lately. I heard he's run into some trouble and lost some men. He's busy recruiting mercenaries and won't have time until the first of next month at the earliest."
The name sounded familiar, and Suelen blurted out, "Mr. Charles Russell?"
"Do you know Mr. Russell?" Mrs. Howard asked, somewhat puzzled.
"I wouldn't say I know him personally, but I've only heard about this gentleman recruiting mercenaries at the Misty Exchange."
Upon hearing Suren's reply, Mrs. Howard nodded and said, "Your information network is quite impressive. In fact, Mr. Russell's recruitment is only open to elite channels. The fact that you know this shows that you are quite capable as well."
Actually, I just spend money quite generously, and I happened to run into an information broker. Suren thought to herself.
"If you have no objections, I will contact that gentleman at the Starlight Club around nine o'clock on the morning of the first of next month to arrange a meeting between you." Mrs. Howard smiled confidently. "The Howard family is a prominent family, and he will give you face. You are quite lucky; I will be leaving soon."
"Leave?" Suren was somewhat puzzled, but recalling the viscount's ambition, he could roughly guess the reason for the other party's departure.
Mrs. Howard nodded, then said somewhat sadly, "Actually, the Howard family is a prominent family in Libraton, but unfortunately, Albert isn't highly regarded because of his bloodline."
Mrs. Howard slowly walked to the window, looking at the street outside with a hint of longing in her eyes.
"I prefer Loren Town to the hustle and bustle of Libraton; it's quiet and peaceful here."
Upon hearing Mrs. Howard's words, Suren simply shook his head slowly. He knew that Mrs. Howard wasn't attached to Loren Town, but rather to this peaceful life.
In Suren's view, these so-called nobles were all pretty much the same.
"Lady Howard, is the Viscount's trip to 'Libraton' for the ruins of 'The Land of Lamentation'?"
Upon hearing Suren's words, Mrs. Howard turned her head. Instead of answering directly, she walked to the table, sat down, and tidied her hair, seemingly trying to sort out her chaotic thoughts.
"Albert has shown a lot more spirits these past two days, it seems he has the support of his family." She paused, let out a soft breath, and looked up at Suren. "Mr. Suren, you seem quite interested in this matter?"
Suren's lips curved into a slight smile. He remained noncommittal: "After all, it's the secret to becoming a god. Anyone would be interested, right?"
Mrs. Howard's gaze fell on Suren's face, and suddenly she laughed: "I don't think you're the kind of person who'd be interested in this kind of thing. Oh well, this might be the last time we see each other anyway."
"That's not necessarily true. Maybe one day I'll appear at 'Libraton,' and perhaps you'll have more trouble and need my help then," Suren said calmly, looking at her. He then turned and walked towards the door, adding, "Of course, it'll be a fee."
Mrs. Howard watched Suren's retreating figure and shook her head with a wry smile.
As I stepped out of the "Starry Club," it was already dark, with stars dotting the night sky.
A night breeze blew by, and Suren couldn't help but stretch. The continuous battles had left him somewhat exhausted, and he slowly walked towards home.
Just then, the sound of flapping wings came from the air. Suren looked up and saw that it was the raven, which was flying over the "Star Club" and heading into the distant sky.
Suren's excellent eyesight allowed him to see that something, like a bag, seemed to be tied to the raven's feet.
Suren stood quietly under the gaslight, watching the raven disappear into the night sky.
