Re:Zero - Starting Life in Another World as a Skeleton

Chapter 265 265: Outdoing the Master

Chapter 265 265: Outdoing the Master

Kaito's silhouette vanished atop the Bone Dragon, and the gargantuan

teleportation array in the heavens drew shut behind him.

Only the hundred million Tier 6 Undead—now methodically exiting through

localized rifts—and the Seven Generals remained upon the scorched prairie.

Beside them sat the silent, statuesque field of former enemies, still shackled

by grey Mana-chains.

Skele-Wrath was the first to break the silence. He surveyed the ruin, the

soulfire in his sockets burning with a restless, unspent battle-lust.

"That's it?"

"Only that runaway wraith-king looked like he had any meat on his bones. The

rest were pathetic. I didn't even get to draw my blade before the Master wiped

the server."

Skele-Pride stood at his side, arms crossed over his obsidian breastplate,

offering only a cold silence. Sensing the judgment, Wrath pivoted toward him

instantly.

"What's with that look, Pride?! Say something! Are you looking down on the

Vanguard's contribution?!"

Pride's soulfire flickered with a sharp, clinical irritation. He lifted a heavy

greave as if preparing to deliver a kick.

"You simple-minded ape. Do you wish to listen to the call of the Evernight

personally?"

Wrath performed a nimble backward leap, a skeletal warhorse manifesting beneath

him in a burst of dark Od. "Try me! It's the perfect time to show these new

recruits what a real charge looks like!"

Just as the two were about to descend into a full-scale martial spat,

Skele-Greed's voice rang out, carrying a strange, soothing authority.

"Enough, enough. Generals, the engagement is concluded."

"The Sovereign has demonstrated the meaning of Absolute Dominion. It was a

flawless performance. As his subjects, our role is to offer sincere praise for

his art, not to brawl in the dirt like common thralls."

At his words, the other six Generals turned their skulls in unison. Their gazes

swept over the infinite, blue sea of the new Tier 6 legions before settling on

Greed.

One hundred million Tier 6 powerhouses.

In any other world, that number would drive a ruler into a state of manic

ecstasy, followed immediately by a total systemic collapse due to the impossible

logistics and resource consumption. It was a figure capable of crushing any

existing administrative framework.

Furthermore, they still had the aftermath of the Dual-Kings Championship to

process. And now, a Grand Decoration Ceremony of unprecedented scale had been

added to the queue.

Every ounce of that pressure landed squarely on the shoulders of the Secretary

of State.

However, Greed simply stood there, a professional smile fixed on his pale,

vampire face.

"It is but a bit of wind and frost," he murmured smoothly.

"To ease the Master's burden is my honor—and the singular logic of my

existence."

He performed a sweeping bow to his colleagues. "The Sovereign's will takes

precedence. The Decoration Ceremony is our primary objective."

"This is the ultimate opportunity to broadcast the Sovereign's radiance and iron

mercy to the Empire and any potential inter-planar threats. We must achieve

structural perfection. No logic errors will be tolerated."

Greed paused, his gaze locking onto the stoic Pride. He began the tactical

delegation.

"General Pride."

"The Punishment Legion shall assume total security for Gale City. I expect zero

discord and absolute order when the Master's carriage arrives."

Pride's jawbone clicked once. "Accepted."

Greed nodded and turned to the mounted Wrath. "General Wrath. You are to

commence a census of the tactical theater immediately. Assist the State Army in

tallying the conversion rates and begin the integration of this massive New

Legion."

"Their discipline is a ruin. They require the Fearless Vanguard to grind them

into shape."

Wrath dismissed his steed, his soulfire pulsing with excitement. "A training

assignment? Finally! I'll turn these runts into proper soldiers if I have to

break every rib in their bodies!"

Greed's focus shifted to Skele-Gluttony.

"General Gluttony."

"The logistics tax is immense. The State Army's capacity is being redlined. I

require the Aegis Legion to assist with supply transport and site preparation

for the Ceremony."

"Furthermore, the Sovereign finds this 'dead' landscape displeasing. You will

oversee the ecological restoration of the prairie. I am dispatching a team of

Druids and Elves from the Sunflower Guild to assist with the Mana-reseeding."

Gluttony, who was usually idle when not defending a wall, gave a thumbs-up. "On

it! I'll have the grass green again by sunrise!"

Greed didn't assign a task to the Arcane Legion. In the entire Empire, no unit

was more taxed than his own, save for Skele-Lust's mages.

They were responsible for all Imperial research, the maintenance of the national

teleportation grid, and now the monumental task of reverse-engineering the

Planar Gate. Lust was content to stay in the background, watching with amusement

as Greed organized the chaos.

Finally, Skele-Sloth's Shadow Guard and Skele-Envy's Silent Extinction Legion

were designated as mobile support. If any sector flagged, they were to plug the

gap instantly. Additionally, the Calamity Knights would maintain a total no-fly

zone over the Gale sector.

The orders given, Greed looked at his disparate, world-shaking peers.

"Gentlemen, Lady. The future of the Empire and the Sovereign's Grand Design

require our unified effort."

"I shall see you at the Ceremony in three days."

With that, Greed dissolved into a swarm of thousands of bats, his silhouette

vanishing into the night. His true work was only just beginning.

The financial settlement for the Chess Tournament. The budget approval for the

Academy's new curriculum. The citizenship audits. And now, the sprawling

bureaucracy of a hundred million new residents. Data streams raced through his

mind, yet he remained in a state of absolute, clinical calm.

Everything was calculated. Everything was for the Glory.

The other Generals dispersed. Only the Fearless Vanguard and the Silent

Extinction Legion remained on the dark prairie to begin their work.

Soon, the air was filled with Wrath's resonant shouting.

"MOVE IT! YOU ARE SUBJECTS OF THE EVERNIGHT NOW, NOT INTER-PLANAR JUNK!"

"YOU, IN THE THIRD ROW! THAT POSTURE IS A LOGIC ERROR! DO I NEED TO PLUCK OUT

YOUR SPINE AND RE-INSTALL IT MANUALLY?!"

Under the roar of their new commander, the tens of millions of converted Tier 6

soldiers began their first lesson in Imperial discipline.

On the other side of the theater, Envy was leading the Silent Extinction units

as they assisted the State Army clerks in clearing the "statues"—the enemies

still sealed in grey chains.

A Bone Wither from Envy's legion was hauling a sealed High Lich when his boot

snagged on an obstruction.

He looked down. There, lying near the site of the original Planar Gate, was a

newly converted recruit. This particular soldier bore no grey chains and had no

structural damage, yet it lay perfectly still in the tall grass.

"Slacking off in a war zone? What a peculiar unit," the Bone Wither muttered.

The soldier gave the recruit a passing glance before resuming his task, sighing

to himself as he walked.

"Born barely five minutes ago and already mastered the art of skiving under a

General's nose. Truly... the student has outdone the master."
