Chapter 271 271: Sealed City
Chapter 271 271: Sealed City
After a long journey, Sam and the others finally arrived at Crown City.
They originally planned to head straight into the old city, but to their surprise, an accident had occurred—every entrance was completely sealed off.
"Why is this happening?!" Ash cried out in frustration.
They had come all this way just to watch the competition in the old city. Now that it was blocked, the event would definitely be postponed.
"Excuse me, Officer Jenny, what happened inside?" Brock asked.
Of course, he didn't miss the chance to approach Officer Jenny. While Ash and Dawn weren't paying attention, he rushed over with his usual lovestruck expression.
Dawn couldn't stand it.
She quickly pulled him back. "Seriously, Brock, can you focus for once?"
"Ash, Brock, Dawn—come over here!" Kurt called out, pointing at a large screen nearby. "This might explain why the old city is sealed."
On the screen, Kotai was making an announcement.
He claimed the old city had been sealed to capture Zoroark, labeling it an "evil Pokémon" that controlled Entei, Raikou, and Suicune.
"That's not true!" Zorua shouted angrily. "MA isn't evil! Kotai is the real villain! I have to save MA!"
"Calm down, Zorua," Sam said, gently holding it back as it tried to rush forward. "We believe you. Don't act recklessly."
After some reassurance, Zorua slowly calmed down.
"Kotai is the real bad guy… can you tell me more?" a voice suddenly asked.
A man in a green shirt stepped forward, looking slightly embarrassed.
"Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Kurt. I'm a journalist."
"Kotai captured me and MA," Zorua said, its voice trembling. "Because of me, MA was forced to help him… I have to rescue MA."
"If you want to find Kotai or Zoroark, you'll need to get into the old city first," Kurt said. "Come with me—I know another way in."
Everyone visibly relaxed. They had been stuck worrying about how to enter, but now they had a solution.
Under Kurt's guidance, they entered the sewers.
After navigating through the underground passage, they successfully reached the old city.
"MA… I can smell MA!!!"
As soon as they entered, Zorua became excited and dashed forward.
"Wait, Zorua!!!" Ash shouted, immediately chasing after it with Pikachu.
Seeing Ash run off, Brock and Dawn were about to follow—
But Sam stopped them.
"What's wrong?" Dawn asked, confused.
Sam pointed at the surroundings. "Don't you think something here feels… off compared to what we saw on the screen?"
That caught their attention.
They carefully looked around.
"Wait… the statue we saw in the broadcast—it was destroyed," Brock said slowly.
"Yeah, but this one is completely intact," Dawn added.
"It's Zoroark," Sam said calmly. "It can create powerful illusions. The Pokémon shown in the city might not be the real Entei, Raikou, or Suicune—they're likely illusions created by Zoroark."
"And the broadcast?" Dawn asked.
"Edited. Fabricated," Sam replied. "That's the only way it makes sense."
"I agree," Kurt said, snapping photos with his camera. "I've been investigating Kotai for a while. There's a rumor—he can see the future."
"See the future?!" Dawn and Brock exclaimed.
"That's right," Kurt continued. "They say he gained that ability about twenty years ago. But how he got it… no one knows."
