Chapter 204: The Trial of Creating Life
Chapter 204: The Trial of Creating Life
“The process of bringing life from nothing to something is inherently difficult.” Isaac took a deep breath, his eyes gradually hardening. “We must bring it back to life.”
This desert seemed to be the most desolate place in the universe, devoid of wind, water, and any trace of life. Tiny cracks covered the earth, each one seeming to whisper of endless loneliness. Occasionally, a flash of thunder would streak across the distant sky, illuminating the barren edge of the world!
Isaac closed his eyes, feeling the pulse of this land. His core of rules slowly released golden light, attempting to touch every inch of the desert. However, as the light spread, a black vortex suddenly surged from the desert, swallowing the light whole!
“The power of rules cannot be applied directly,” Isaac frowned. “This land seems to reject all external forces.”
“Perhaps we need to understand this land more,” Mira whispered, “the creation of life is not something that is forcibly given, but rather something that is allowed to sprout naturally.”
Isaac nodded, and after a moment of contemplation, he plunged the Blade of Rules into the earth. Light emanated from the blade, gradually revealing the desert's internal structure. Within the cracks lay a faint life force, like a flame about to be extinguished!
“That’s the key,” Isaac said in a low voice. “It’s not completely dead here, it just needs a trigger.”
Just then, the voice of the Wheel of Time spoke again: "Isaac, you will face three choices. First, use the power of the rules to directly grant life, but the price will be that this land will lose its autonomy. Second, wait for life to awaken naturally, but this may take millions of years. Third, find a balance between freedom and rules, and facilitate the birth of life with the slightest intervention."
Each choice seemed to carry enormous risks and responsibilities. After much deliberation, Isaac finally chose the third option!
“I cannot deprive this land of its freedom, nor can I wait indefinitely,” Isaac raised his head, his gaze resolute. “I will create a source of life that can develop on its own.”
He unleashed the power of the core rules, combining it with the resonant power deep within his soul, condensing it into a golden-white sphere of light. The sphere slowly floated in the air, radiating a warm glow, adding a touch of life to the desert!
However, just as the ball of light was about to fall to the ground, the black vortex reappeared, transforming into a giant dark tentacle that rushed straight towards the ball of light!
Isaac reacted swiftly, wielding the Blade of Rules to block the tentacle attack. The massive shockwave forced him back several steps. Dark tentacles surged from the crack, their numbers constantly increasing, each emanating an aura that corroded the rules!
"What are these things?" Mira swung her light blade, severing a tentacle, but it quickly regenerated.
“This is the resistance of this land,” Isaac said in a deep voice. “It cannot accept change, and even sees the birth of life as a threat.”
The tentacles grew increasingly ferocious, attempting to devour the sphere of light and plunging the desert back into silence. Isaac did not back down; he plunged the Blade of Rules into the ground, releasing a barrier of light that temporarily sealed the tentacles!
"Mira, help me stabilize the orb!" Isaac shouted, concentrating all his strength to suppress the tentacles' attack.
Mira nodded, using her soul power to guide the sphere of light, firmly planting it into the core of the earth. As the sphere descended, the earth began to tremble slightly, and a pale green light gradually flowed from the cracks!
The dark tentacles struggled more fiercely, attempting to break through the light barrier and destroy the sphere of light deep within the earth. However, Isaac and Mira fought side by side, using the Blade of Rules and the power of their souls to construct an unbreakable barrier!
“This land needs its own opportunity,” Isaac growled, “not to succumb to endless silence!”
As their power reached its peak, the sphere of light finally merged completely with the earth. A powerful life force surged forth from the ground, transforming into countless emerald green vines that entangled and gradually purified the dark tentacles!
The cracks in the earth were repaired, the color of the desert began to change, the dark red sky became bright and clear, and the breath of life gradually spread. The first tender sprout broke through the soil, followed by more grasses, trees, and flowers, until an entire forest rose up before them!
Isaac wearily laid down the Blade of Rules, looked at the revitalized land before him, and smiled slightly. He turned to Mira, his eyes filled with gratitude!
“We did it,” he said, his voice filled with satisfaction.
Mira gently grasped his hand, her gaze resolute: "But the trial is not over yet; the real challenge may have just begun."
Just then, the voice of the Wheel of Time rang out again: "Isaac, you have passed the third trial, but this is only the beginning. Next, you will face an even greater threat from the depths of the universe—a threat that stems from the clash between freedom and rules, and from the rifts in fate."
With a flash of light, Isaac and Mira were transported to another unknown space, where an even more complex test of fate awaited them!
As Isaac and Mira stood in the newly reborn forest, feeling the warmth of the earth returning to life, the voice of the Wheel of Time echoed in their ears once more, tinged with a chill: "Isaac, the Third Trial has ended, but it is only the beginning of your true destiny. You have successfully awakened the Source of Life, but the trials to come will be even more severe."
An ominous atmosphere seemed to hang in the air, and Isaac felt a slight tremor in his heart. He turned to look at Mira, his eyes resolute: "We've come this far, and no matter how great the dangers ahead, I will lead you through it all."
Mira nodded gently; she could sense an unprecedented determination and sense of responsibility in Isaac. She didn't say much, but simply held his hand tightly.
“You have done very well,” the voice of the Wheel of Time was no longer so indifferent, but carried a hint of complex emotion. “You created life, but life will now bring you even greater trials.”
As the words fell, the forest scene before them began to change drastically. The plants grew rapidly, blooming profusely, filled with birdsong and fragrant flowers, but this vibrant world was suddenly transformed. The branches of the grass and trees became increasingly twisted, the tree trunks began to rot, the flowers on the ground withered abruptly, and the life force in the air rapidly dissipated.
"What...what's going on?" Mira frowned, quickly drew her light blade, and looked around warily.
“It’s the backlash of life,” Isaac’s voice was low. “Life cannot come into being from nothing by the power of rules alone. Our intervention in it has been too profound, and the loss of its free flow has instead triggered its self-destruction.”
A flash of realization crossed Mira's eyes: "We created life, but we didn't give it true freedom. We forced it to grow in a certain direction, and as a result, it became restless and began to devour itself."
