Chapter 167: The Abyss of Trials
Chapter 167: The Abyss of Trials
Isaac clenched his fists, his eyes hardening with determination: "I am ready to accept any challenge. Whatever fate may bring, I will find the most suitable path for the universe."
"Is that so?" The Guardian chuckled. "You believe you can control all of this, but the universe you see is not as simple as you understand it. The nature of fate and chaos is far beyond your current comprehension. Your so-called 'control' is nothing more than an attempt to find a path that suits you outside the rules of the universe. But the rules of the universe are already deeply embedded in your destiny, and you cannot escape them."
Isaac did not back down; instead, his gaze became even more resolute: "I do not believe that fate is immutable, nor do I believe that chaos is uncontrollable. If the rules of the universe can be controlled by the strong, then they can be used to my advantage."
"Heh, a strongman?" The guardian's laughter carried a hint of sarcasm. "You think a true strongman is someone who conquers fate and chaos? No, a true strongman is someone who understands the rules of the universe, aligns with the power of fate and chaos, and ultimately transcends these powers. You are nothing but a speck of dust in the cosmic torrent. A true 'strongman' is someone who can merge with the laws of the universe and become a part of it."
Isaac was deeply moved by these words. At that moment, he felt as if he had truly seen the truth of the universe, and a profound power surged within him. He finally understood that what he sought was not endless battles and transcendence, but a true understanding of the rules of the universe.
"So, how can one become the 'strong one' you speak of?" Isaac asked calmly, his inner turmoil gradually subsiding.
The guardian's gaze was profound: "Only by passing the final test of this temple and truly understanding the essence of fate and chaos can you transcend the laws of the universe and become a new 'stronger.' Now, are you ready to face the final challenge?"
Isaac stood before the temple's entrance, the ancient guardian before him remaining calm and composed, his gaze as deep as the starry sky, seemingly able to see through everything. His aura was powerful and oppressive, as if the very rules of the universe had coalesced at that moment. The surrounding air was heavy, as if countless stars were shimmering in his eyes. Isaac's heart pounded, but he did not back down, his fists clenched, the fire within him burning ever brighter.
"What exactly is this 'final test' you speak of?" Isaac's voice was deep yet firm, as if responding to the challenge of the entire universe. "I have come this far, and all paths lead to this temple. I will not back down."
The Guardian nodded slightly, seemingly approving of Isaac's resolve. His gaze deepened, as if traversing the river of time and space, piercing straight into Isaac's heart.
"You have reached the deepest part of the universe." The Guardian's voice was deep and steady. "However, everything you see is still just an appearance. The real trial is the choice within your heart. You can overcome the external rules of fate and chaos, but whether you can overcome the fear and desire within your own heart is the real key to whether you can transcend the universe."
Hearing this, Isaac's doubts deepened. He knew that everything he had experienced was not merely a contest of strength, but a profound spiritual cleansing. Every battle, every breakthrough, had been a prelude to this moment of awakening. He had to confront not only external threats, but also the deepest fears, loneliness, and even desires and obsessions within himself.
“I am not afraid to face my fears,” Isaac said softly, his voice unwavering. “If this is the trial I must undergo, then I will not hesitate to go through it.”
A glint flashed in the Guardian's eyes, seemingly pleased with Isaac's resolve. He slowly extended his hand, and the space in the void began to tremble violently. The temple gates slowly opened, revealing an endless staircase leading to a deeper unknown.
"Enter the temple and face your own heart." The guardian's voice echoed in Isaac's ears. "The true trial will begin the moment you step onto this staircase."
Isaac took a deep breath and stepped without hesitation toward the open door. His heartbeat gradually calmed, and the voice within him grew clearer—this was the path he had to face, the only way for him to pursue the truth of the universe.
As Isaac stepped into the temple, the scenery around him began to change. The once empty temple suddenly transformed into a vast starry sky, with countless stars orbiting within, as if he had entered an endless universe. Each star shone like a dazzling sun, radiating intense light.
However, the light of these stars is not warm, but rather a trial full of challenges. Each star represents some emotion, desire, fear, or unresolved obsession deep within Isaac's heart.
Isaac looked up at the stars, a deep emotion welling up within him. Each star seemed to tell his story, recounting everything he had experienced on his long journey. From initial loneliness and confusion, to gradual awakening, to overcoming the shackles of fate, to facing the threat of chaos, and finally standing at the deepest part of the universe, facing this ultimate trial.
“These stars…represent every choice I’ve made, every step of my journey,” Isaac murmured to himself, his eyes becoming clear and resolute.
Suddenly, a star brightened dramatically, as if drawn by some force, and hurtled toward him. The star emitted a brilliant light that illuminated the entire temple, as if everything had frozen in that instant.
"Is this my inner fear?" Isaac's gaze turned serious. He knew that the light of this star did not come from external threats, but from the depths of his own heart.
As the stars drew closer, Isaac's body instinctively took a step back, but he quickly regained his footing. He understood that this was the test he had to face—to confront his inner fears and bravely confront his weaknesses.
“I will not run away.” Isaac’s voice was low and resolute.
The star finally stopped before him, its light gradually softening and transforming into a clear image. In the image was his own past—the past self, once lost, lonely, and cowardly. That young Isaac, once lost in endless darkness, unable to see the light ahead, unable to control his own destiny.
“This is who I used to be,” Isaac whispered, his eyes flashing with complex emotions. “That me… was afraid of failure, afraid of loneliness, afraid of not being able to control everything about myself.”
