Chapter 156: The Other Side of Fate
Chapter 156: The Other Side of Fate
The moment Isaac stepped into the core of the altar, the surrounding space rippled outwards like waves. His body seemed to be pulled by an invisible force, and everything before him gradually distorted. Time, consciousness, were all pulled into an indescribable state. It felt as if he had been completely stripped of the constraints of reality; he couldn't be sure if he was moving forward, nor could he perceive whether his body was still intact.
"Is this the core of chaos?" Isaac murmured to himself. He tried to mobilize his soul power, but found that the surrounding environment completely blocked out any fluctuations in the rules. There was no direction, no path, only endless void enveloping him.
Just then, a deep voice rang out, seemingly coming from all directions at the same time, striking straight into the depths of his soul.
"Descendants of destiny, welcome to the origin of chaos."
Isaac abruptly raised his head, looking around but seeing no physical form. He said coldly, "Who are you? Why are you hiding in this chaos?"
The voice didn't answer immediately, but continued with a hint of mockery: "Who I am is not important. What is important is, why have you come? Fate is so closely intertwined with yours, yet you chose to step into this chaotic land. Aren't you afraid of being completely swallowed up by it?"
“Afraid?” Isaac sneered, a sharp glint in his eyes. “If I feared chaos, I wouldn’t have come here. The balance of fate has been shaken, and I’m here to find a way out.”
The voice paused for a moment, then rang out again: "The way to break the deadlock? You think chaos needs to be balanced? The network of fate has deviated from its original rules, and chaos is merely correcting it in its own way. What is truly shaken is fate itself."
Isaac's brow furrowed slightly. He couldn't deny that the crisis, from the erosion of the Fate Rift to the spread of the Chaos Runes, was indeed inextricably linked to the imbalance of the Fate Network. But he didn't believe that Chaos's counterattack was merely a "correction," because the destructive power it brought was undeniable.
“Correct?” Isaac said coldly. “If the purpose of Chaos is merely correction, why should it come at the cost of destroying the Fate Network? Your so-called balance is nothing but complete subversion.”
The voice suddenly turned low and menacing, carrying an overwhelming sense of pressure: "Disruption is not the goal, but the result. From its inception, the seeds of division were sown within the Fate Network. Do you truly understand the nature of Fate?"
As the words fell, the surrounding void suddenly trembled violently, and a dazzling light emerged from the depths of space. The light gradually spread, eventually transforming into a massive image that hung above Isaac's head.
The scene depicted a vast universe, with countless stars moving in an orderly fashion under the guidance of a network of destiny. Golden threads of fate pierced through each star, weaving into a gigantic net that enveloped the entire universe.
"This is the birth of the Fate Network," the voice said slowly. "Its initial purpose was to maintain the order of the universe and prevent chaos from spreading. But as time went on, the Fate Network began to devour chaos, incorporating its power into itself to strengthen the stability of the rules."
The scene gradually changes, the brilliance of the Fate Network becomes increasingly dazzling, while the chaotic realm is continuously compressed and devoured, until only an isolated core remains, completely surrounded by the Fate Line.
"The controllers of fate have never ceased their erosion of chaos," the voice continued. "And chaos's counterattack is merely a means to reclaim its own living space."
Isaac watched the scene silently, his heart churning with turmoil. He couldn't deny that the expansion of the Fate Network did indeed involve a process of consuming Chaos. But he still couldn't accept that the erosion of Chaos was the only way to solve the problem.
"Is the opposition between fate and chaos truly irreconcilable?" Isaac asked in a low voice, his gaze deep, as if questioning himself or the voice.
"Reconciliation?" The voice suddenly laughed, a mocking laugh. "You think reconciliation is the answer to the problem? Fate and chaos have been opposing forces since their inception. Reconciliation will only weaken their power and eventually cause them to be annihilated in the universe."
Isaac's gaze sharpened, his voice as cold as a knife: "Since fate and chaos cannot be abandoned, why not try to find a new balance between them? Opposition of forces is not incompatible; the key lies in how to guide them."
The voice fell silent for a moment, then spoke with a hint of coldness: "A new balance? Your idea is interesting. But do you have enough power to achieve it? The gap between fate and chaos cannot be bridged by simple rules."
As soon as he finished speaking, the surrounding space suddenly shattered, and countless twisted runes surged out from the void, transforming into a massive vortex that completely enveloped Isaac. This vortex contained world-destroying power, and each rune exuded a cold and bone-chilling aura.
"This is a test for you," the voice said coldly. "Prove with your power that the balance between fate and chaos is not just an illusion. If you fail, the Fate Network will forever lose its meaning."
Isaac's body was firmly suppressed by the power of the vortex. He could feel that the runes were not only eroding his soul but also trying to strip him of his consciousness. However, there was no sign of retreat in his eyes. His soul power rapidly gathered within his body, fiercely resisting the corrosive runes.
“The meaning of destiny is not to reject chaos, but to coexist with it,” Isaac said softly, his eyes burning with intense light. “I will prove that this balance is achievable!”
He suddenly raised his hands, and his soul power transformed into a golden ray of light, rushing straight to the center of the vortex. However, the vortex was not afraid at all; its power suddenly erupted, and countless runes surged towards Isaac like a tide, attempting to completely devour his soul.
Isaac did not back down. His body was enveloped in radiance, and the power of his soul clashed head-on with the runes. With each impact, he gradually sensed that the runes did not completely reject his power; their essence also contained a will to be understood.
“These runes…” Isaac’s eyes lit up slightly. He slowly withdrew his soul power, transforming it into a soft glow that resonated with the energy of the runes.
“Fate doesn’t need to fight against chaos, but should guide it.” Isaac’s voice was deep and firm. “The power of chaos should not be suppressed; it can also be part of the balance.”
As his voice faded, the runes in the vortex gradually ceased their attack. Their light softened, slowly merging with Isaac's soul power, ultimately transforming into a clear radiance that permeated the entire space.
"Well done." The deep voice sounded again, with a hint of approval in its tone. "Perhaps you are indeed qualified to try this path."
Isaac raised his head, his eyes filled with unwavering determination: "I will use my own strength to bring true balance to fate and chaos. I will walk this path to the very end!"
