Chapter 47 Borsalino
Chapter 47 Borsalino
Just as Moko had expected, snowflakes began to fall gently from the sky shortly after midnight. Moko closed the heavy file, pinched her brow, and reflected the scattered white snowflakes outside the window in her slightly tired eyes. Pushing open the window, she was greeted by a cool breeze mixed with snowflakes. Moko took a deep breath, and the corners of her eyes involuntarily turned up slightly.
"Brubrubru, brubrubru."
Moko answered the phone with a puzzled look on her face, and immediately heard a lot of noise coming from the other end. It sounded like a banquet, with the clinking of glasses and strange tunes being sung by the crowd. It was quite interesting.
"Moko-chan, Moko-chan, it's me! It's me!"
A childish voice, tinged with drunkenness, rang out, and Mo Ke couldn't help but chuckle, her faint sorrow dispelled.
"Hmm, is Shanks throwing a party?"
"Yes, it was a New Year's banquet with everyone. There was lots of delicious food and drinks, but it's a pity that Moko-chan wasn't there."
Shanks held his glass and swirled it gently. The reflection in the wine slowly blurred, obscuring his red figure.
"...Shanks, it's snowing... It's beautiful snow, let's see it together next time."
Mo Ke reached out the window and caught the falling snowflakes. The small, delicate snowflakes gradually melted in Mo Ke's palm, turning into a drop of water that dissolved into the soft ground.
Mihua really loves snow. Her whole fluffy body rolls around in the snow. Amidst the white snow, her red stands out brightly. Moko gazes at Mihua in the snow with gentle eyes, a slight smile playing on her lips.
"Okay, I'll go wherever Moko-chan wants to go."
Shanks gazed at the bright, full moon in the sky, his eyes filled with tenderness. Beside him, the tiny Sweet Fruit fluttered its short legs and spun around, occasionally flapping its little wings as it jumped back and forth between Shanks's shoulder and the ground.
If the Navy hadn't been keeping such a close watch on him, Shanks would have gone straight to Moko. Having experienced a separation once, Shanks wished he could keep Moko by his side at all times. He didn't know how many times Beckman had scolded him for his dangerous idea of kidnapping someone from the Navy Headquarters, but he just couldn't help it.
Snow is not just snow. He once made a promise with Moke that if Moke missed him, she could look at the snow, feel the wind, bask in the sun, and see everything that Moke felt most like him. Then he would return to her side, to his most precious treasure. It was the same before, and it is the same now. Besides, how could he bear to leave Moke alone now? He and Moke have been separated for long enough.
Seeing Shanks sitting alone on the rocks, Beckman stopped Uta, who wanted to go find Shanks. Faced with Uta's questioning gaze, Beckman simply shook his head.
"Is Shanks missing his sister?"
Uta didn't understand why Moko didn't go with them. Shanks and the others were very strong, and they didn't need to be afraid even if there were many Marines. Besides, her sister clearly didn't want to leave Shanks' side.
"Well, Little Uta, let the captain be alone for a while now."
Beckman thought much more than Uta. He understood that the two were not in control of their own destiny, and he understood the mission and responsibility they bore. But none of that mattered. The freedom they longed for was not far away.
After an unknown amount of time, listening to the sound of waves and Shanks' voice coming from the Den Den Mushi, Moko unknowingly fell asleep. Neither of them hung up the phone. Shanks listened to Moko's even breathing and a gentle smile appeared on his lips.
Sweetie, tired from playing, snuggled into Shanks' arms and fell fast asleep. The others were also asleep around the campfire. Shanks sipped his liquor from the jug, a complex and unreadable expression flashing across his eyes, as if he were deep in thought.
After celebrating Ace's eleventh birthday with him, Moko didn't linger any longer. After instructing the two little ones to take good care of themselves, Moko set off again to return to Marineford.
Marineford has been unusually lively these past few days because a new admiral is about to be elected, and famous naval figures frequently appear in the newspapers.
Even in her ordinary naval uniform, Moko inevitably attracted a lot of attention as she walked down the street. Some low-ranking naval officers from the branch office, unaware of Moko's identity, rudely blocked her path.
Moko didn't want to pay much attention to the person in front of her. She glanced at him indifferently and planned to take a detour to leave, but it was clear that the man in front of her did not want to let Moko leave so easily.
"Beautiful lady, would you do me the honor of inviting me to dinner?"
"I'm busy."
As the man's hand approached, Moko subtly took a step back. The man's expression turned somewhat unpleasant. The surrounding navy watched this scene as if it were a joke. Most of them knew Moko's identity, but no one stepped forward to remind this arrogant man; they were all waiting to see him make a fool of himself.
"I'm so sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm a colonel..."
Before the man could finish speaking, Moko interrupted him, "Excuse me, I have something to do."
Moko had no liking for the man with the foul aura in front of her. Ignoring his embarrassment, she walked around him toward the office building. The surrounding navy men laughed at this scene, which made the man furious.
He was a naval captain, and everyone treated him with utmost respect. This woman was just an ordinary naval officer, yet she dared to ignore him and make him lose face in front of so many people.
The man's face turned red with anger, and he reached out to grab Moko forcefully. This sudden turn of events made everyone gasp. This man was truly brave; if anything happened to Moko, even if she lost a single hair, who knew what Garp would do?
Garp's granddaughter complex has become somewhat known to the Navy Headquarters these past few days. It's safe to say that even if Moko treats warships like toys, Garp wouldn't bat an eye, and might even get a few more for Moko.
(Warring States Period: The warship bill is sent to Garp, deducted from Garp's salary? _?)
Garp: Σ(っ °Д °;)っ! )
Now this man dared to attack Moke in public. Everyone couldn't help but mourn for him and light incense. Just as the man's hand was about to grab Moke's thin body, a large hand suddenly reached out from the side and restrained the man's wrist. It seemed like a heavy blow, but it was powerless against this large hand.
Moko turned her head and looked at the tall figure that was blocking her view. The man was wearing a yellow striped suit and yellow sunglasses. His hair was curly like a teddy bear's. His expression was lazy and casual, which looked a bit annoying, but he exuded an extremely dangerous aura. Coupled with his height of nearly three meters, he was extremely imposing.
"Po, Lieutenant General Borsalino!"
Enraged, the man was filled with shock and fear. He tried to pull his hand back, but found that Borsalino's grip on his hand prevented him from moving it.
Borsalino narrowed his eyes, a hint of displeasure flashing across them, but the next second he reverted to his lazy, casual expression, as if the oppressive aura he had just exuded was merely an illusion.
"You actually want to lay a hand on such a cute little lady? That's really going too far."
Despite his casual and relaxed tone, everyone detected a chilling undertone in his voice, causing their hair to stand on end. The man closest to Borsalino was so frightened that his legs trembled, and he could barely stand, looking as if he was about to cry.
"Crack!" It sounded like bones breaking, and everyone felt a pain in their own bones.
"what!"
The man let out a pig-like scream, his legs went weak, and he knelt on the ground, tears streaming down his face. He looked ridiculous and pathetic. He didn't care about saving face anymore and kept apologizing to Moke.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, please forgive me!"
Moko's eyes were indifferent. If Borsalino hadn't made a move, this man would be meeting his maker. Just because she didn't want to reveal her strength didn't mean she could be bullied. Anyone who had been arrogant in front of her since childhood never had a good ending.
(Roger, Shanks, Rayleigh, and everyone on the ship: Sharpening knives? \'\\????\\3=(?_?))
"Oh dear, it seems your apology wasn't very sincere. Miss doesn't want to forgive you."
"what!"
Borsalino looked at Moko with a smile. His tall figure seemed somewhat amiable against the backdrop of his smile, provided one could ignore the increasing force in his hands and the man's pig-like screams.
"Young Miss, how would you like to punish him?"
Moko shook her head, not wanting to get too involved in the internal affairs of the Navy. Besides, this person posed no threat to her, so why waste time arguing with a clown?
"Since Miss isn't interested, how about I handle it?"
Before Moko could even respond, a flash of light appeared, and the man collapsed to the ground in agony, clutching his stomach. His face was deathly pale. Borsalino glanced at the others indifferently, and the crowd of onlookers scattered and disappeared.
Borsalino's attack was incredibly fast. If Moko hadn't been watching him closely, she probably would have missed his move. No wonder he's a user of the Glint-Glint Fruit; it's no wonder he's a candidate for Admiral.
Having dealt with the troublesome man, Borsalino bowed to Moko, giving a somewhat imperfect gentlemanly salute.
"Where is this pretty young lady headed now?"
Moko didn't rush to respond, but simply nodded slightly as she looked at Borsalino's outstretched hand.
"Lieutenant General Borsalino."
Borsalino raised an eyebrow, not surprised that Moko recognized him. He had already heard that Vice Admiral Garp's granddaughter had come to work at the Marine Headquarters and was serving in the newly established position of Admiral's Assistant.
It's not unusual for naval family members to work in the navy. The reason this has attracted so much attention is simply because it's Vice Admiral Garp's granddaughter. At first, I just wanted to see this rumored girl, but I didn't expect that this incredibly well-behaved little girl would be so adorable.
While the man was harassing Moko, her original intention was to see how she would handle the situation and what kind of abilities this granddaughter of a famous naval hero possessed. However, in the instant the man made his move, she found herself inexplicably beside Moko. How strange!
"I'm heading to the conference room now."
Interrupting Borsalino's rambling thoughts, Moko revealed their next destination. If Ace and Luffy were the type of people whose thoughts were easy to read, then Borsalino was the type whose thoughts were extremely difficult to read. Dealing with this kind of person would be troublesome, and Moko didn't like trouble.
"Oh dear, that's exactly where I was going. I wonder if I could accompany you, young lady?"
Borsalino lazily lifted his eyelids, his eyes holding a strange glint in them, giving Moko the feeling that Borsalino was looking at a small pet. Moko raised an eyebrow slightly and nodded gently.
With Moko's permission, Borsalino followed her toward the office building. Borsalino's stride was several times longer than Moko's. Moko suddenly regretted letting Borsalino come along. So what if he has long legs? (? ? ?? )
Seemingly noticing Moko's hurried pace, Borsalino's lips curled up, a hint of mischievousness flashing in his eyes, but he still slowed down to match Moko's pace.
The unusual pairing of the two attracted a lot of attention along the way, until they entered the office building and were no longer in the sight of them. Moko breathed a barely perceptible sigh of relief. Borsalino, on the other hand, was used to being watched by everyone. Seeing Moko like this, he subtly slowed down and followed behind her, blocking the view of those still peering in from outside the door.
Noticing Borsalino's action, Moko looked up at him and smiled, "Thank you, Lieutenant General Borsalino."
"I didn't do anything!"
As they spoke, the two had already reached the door of the conference room. As soon as the door opened, everyone in the room looked over. Sengoku crossed his arms and rested his chin on his hands, looking at Borsalino with a rather speechless expression.
"Borsalino, you're late."
Sengoku didn't mention Moko, but Moko is so cute, it's definitely true. She must have been held back by Borsalino.
Borsalino: (′′?▽′?`) I don't know if I should say something~
Warring States Period: Shut up.
"I met a cute little lady on the road, and I just couldn't bear to leave her alone~"
Borsalino was not intimidated by Sengoku's questioning. He leisurely walked to his seat and sat down, his posture casual and completely lacking the seriousness of a meeting. Sengoku was extremely helpless about this, but he did not say anything.
"Little Moko, come over to Grandpa."
Garp patted the spot next to him, his smile so wide that his eyebrows and eyes disappeared, and Moko could almost see the angry veins bulging on Sengoku's forehead.
Without wasting any more time, Moko quickly found a seat behind Garp, but did not sit next to him. At this point, she was just an ordinary Marine, and sitting with a Vice Admiral would be too conspicuous.
Garp didn't mind that Moko wasn't sitting next to him. He took a senbei from the table and handed it to Moko. Sengoku ignored the unreliable Garp and started today's meeting, seeing that everyone had arrived.
