Chapter 228 Treating You to Dinner
Chapter 228 Treating You to Dinner
Let bygones be bygones!
At this moment, Mo Shuang let go of her obsession with Kakashi's kidney harvesting, which is called 'helping others achieve their goals'.
When Kakashi heard what Mo Shuang said, he wanted to explain. Although he didn't know why, his intuition told him that he had to explain clearly or he would miss the most important thing in his life.
Watching the departing figure, Kakashi said loudly, "There is only friendship between me and Rin."
Upon hearing this, not only was Mo Shuang stunned for a moment, but even Nohara Rin was dumbfounded for a while. She didn't understand why Kakashi would say such a thing to the enemy.
Mo Shuang turned around again and said, enunciating each word clearly, "Kakashi, you're such a scumbag!"
The familiar tone, the familiar voice—Kakashi's closed heart began to beat again. "Could it be what he thinks?" He was about to step forward and reach out to remove the mask from her face.
"puff..."
A kunai pierced Mo Shuang's chest. No one knew when, but Nohara Rin was standing behind her. She pulled it out, and blood spurted out.
Mo Shuang looked down at her wound, a wave of grievance washing over her.
Seeing that the enemy was still alive, Nohara Rin attacked again. Mo Shuang didn't give her another chance and froze her directly.
"Rin..." Kakashi exclaimed and rushed over.
Mo Shuang lowered her eyes and turned to leave, placing her hand on her chest to freeze the wound, but at this moment her heart seemed as cold as ice.
Kakashi felt a pang of heartache watching Mo Shuang's departing figure. He got up, wanting to chase after her, but he couldn't ignore Lin, so he stopped in his tracks and watched her leave.
Not far from the cave entrance, Mo Shuang encountered Kisame Hoshigaki.
Kisame saw the wounds on Mo Shuang's body and asked, "Are you alright?"
Mo Shuang shook her head. "Let's go!"
"Or are you going to kill me?" she added calmly.
"I only deal with comrades who might fall into enemy hands, and you obviously don't meet that requirement." Kisame's expression was very calm, as if he were stating something perfectly normal.
Mo Shuang gave a slight twitch at the corner of her mouth. "That would be an honor."
The two left together and soon disappeared from the spot.
Inside the cave, Mo Shuang left while simultaneously removing the freezing spell from Nohara Rin's body.
Seeing that the ice on Rin's body was melting and she had woken up, Kakashi asked with concern, "Rin, how are you? Is there anything else that's bothering you?"
"Kakashi, I'm fine. Where is that person?" Nohara Rin looked around and asked.
Kakashi, his expression inscrutable, gestured with his lip. "She was rescued by her comrades."
"I see, that's a real pity!" Nohara Rin felt a pang of regret; it was such a shame that such a formidable enemy hadn't been captured.
She didn't understand why Kakashi didn't intervene at that time, but if Kakashi hadn't bewitched that person, she wouldn't have had a chance to hurt him.
Perhaps this was part of Kakashi's plan, but the person's companion just happened to arrive, so he wasn't detained.
Kakashi breathed a sigh of relief when he learned that Rin was alright, but his mind was filled with the look in that person's eyes before she left.
The thought made his heart ache. "She must have misunderstood him."
Kakashi immediately decided to stay; he was determined to find out.
After a short rest, the two left the cave.
Ibi was relieved to see the two return safely; otherwise, how could he explain it to the Fourth Hokage?
"What are the casualties this time?" Kakashi asked.
"No one was injured or killed." Ibiki was also quite incredulous, as that person's strength was enough to wipe out everyone.
Both of them had a hint of suspicion in their eyes.
Kakashi broke the silence first, "I'm going to Kirigakure to investigate for a while."
"No, I can't explain this to the Fourth Hokage." Ibiki refused outright.
“Ibihi, I will explain to the teacher myself.”
"I'm entrusting Lin to you to escort her back to Konoha safely."
After hearing these words, Ibiki realized that he couldn't persuade Kakashi.
As the Konoha ninja prepared to leave, Nohara Rin learned that Kakashi was going to Kirigakure alone.
"Kakashi, why?"
"We're a small team."
Nohara Rin couldn't understand it. Was the lost time really gone forever?
“Rin, things are still chaotic in Kirigakure. The two of us would be too conspicuous, and I won’t take the risk. I just want to confirm something, which is very important to Konoha,” Kakashi explained, seemingly having prepared his explanation beforehand.
Nohara Rin gave him a deep look, and at that moment she realized that she couldn't stop Kakashi.
She took a small first-aid kit out of her backpack and handed it to him, saying, "Take this, it's best not to use it."
Kakashi accepted it. "Thank you!"
As the two were traveling, Kisame Hoshigaki noticed that the ice on Mo Shuang's wound had begun to melt and reminded her, "Take a rest for a while. You need to take care of your wound."
"Hmm." Mo Shuang glanced down and nodded.
While she was tending to her wounds, Kisame went into the nearby forest, hunted a rabbit, treated it briefly, and then returned, where he lit a fire and started roasting it.
They are not far from Kirigakure now and are out of danger, so it's unlikely that the people from Konoha will chase after them.
After it was baked, he pulled off a rabbit leg and walked over to Mo Shuang, "Have something to eat!"
Mo Shuang looked up at him, said 'thank you', and took it.
"Kisame, is this how you always carry out missions?" Mo Shuang noticed that the meat was grilled very well and decided to give Kisame some pointers.
In response to Mo Shuang's strange question, Kisame thought for a moment and finally nodded.
After finishing the last bite of rabbit meat, Mo Shuang spoke again, "Don't you find it strange that you always get surrounded by the enemy when you're on a mission? Haven't you ever thought that someone might have betrayed your intelligence?"
"That's impossible!" Kisame exclaimed in disbelief.
"You can verify it yourself. I've heard that there's a high-ranking official in the village who's been selling information and making money off it."
"I wonder which sucker got him so much information." After saying that, Mo Shuang glanced at Kisame Hoshigaki.
Kisame could easily tell that Mo Shuang was teasing him, and although he was still unwilling to believe it, it was indeed necessary to verify it.
When he finally realized he wanted to eat something, he discovered the whole rabbit had disappeared. Looking up, he saw Mo Shuang gnawing on it.
"I'm injured, so I need to eat more meat."
"Anyway, when you return to Kirigakure, Keisa will definitely invite you to dinner, so it won't matter if you skip this meal."
Mo Shuang spoke with an icy expression and a straight face, causing Kisame's lips to twitch involuntarily. What kind of twisted logic was this?
And how did Xisha know that he was invited to dinner after the mission?
Before he could figure out how to ask, Mo Shuang blurted out again, "Will you be with Xi Sha? I think she seems quite interested in you."
Upon hearing this, Kisame fell silent.
Seeing this, Mo Shuang quickly comforted her, "Kisame, you're not ugly at all. You just have a unique look. And putting aside your face, your height, figure, and personality are all very good. There's no need to feel inferior."
"I suppose Xi Sha also has her eye on you for this reason!"
The more she spoke, the more silent Kisame became.
After a long silence, he finally spoke, "Let's go back to the village and have a meal together!"
Mo Shuang thought she had misheard, and stared blankly for a moment before asking in confusion, "You're inviting me to dinner??"
"It's not impossible!"
Mo Shuang readily agreed, and she would bring Xi Sha along so they could watch a play together.
