Chapter 34 Recipe Analysis and Firearms Workbench
Chapter 34 Recipe Analysis and Firearms Workbench
Ten minutes later.
Under Sato's "extremely willing and enthusiastic" guidance, Pei Qi arrived at a large shooting club in the suburbs.
This is Sato's property. As the heavy blast door slowly opened, a mixture of gun oil and primer fumes rushed out.
Upon entering, Sato's timid demeanor vanished instantly, replaced by a fanatical, almost devout professionalism.
He walked to the wall, pointed to the gleaming weapons hanging on the display shelf, his eyes gleaming.
"This is an M1911. Although it only has a magazine capacity of 7 rounds, the stopping power provided by its .0.45 ACP caliber is enough to make any carbon-based life form obedient at close range."
"This is the M870 shotgun, the king of close combat. There's nothing a single 12-gauge deer shot can't solve."
Pei Qi stood quietly to the side, seemingly just listening attentively, occasionally nodding slightly.
But on the retina, which was imperceptible to outsiders, Pei Qi's pupils contracted slightly.
The simple [Information Display Module] box, which was originally floating above his field of vision and usually only displayed the "block name", suddenly began to tremble without warning.
Like a monitor with a faulty connection, it emitted a silent hum that only he could perceive.
At first, when Pei Qi looked at the M1911, the box only displayed a pale line of text:
[Name: Unknown Iron Machinery]
[state:???]
However, as Sato uttered terms like "0.45 caliber" and "stopping force," the box suddenly seemed to be injected with some kind of catalyst; the garbled text on it scrolled rapidly and instantly refreshed into clear green text:
[Name: Colt M1911]
[Type: Semi-automatic pistol]
[Features: Large caliber, high stopping power]
"Hmm?" Pei Qi's heart skipped a beat, and his eyes became somewhat strange.
"Could it be... that this module isn't a rigid, fixed program in this world, but rather has the potential to evolve?"
Pei Qi didn't make a fuss, but decided to verify his guess. He shifted his gaze to a more complex-looking rifle next to him, which was still displayed as [Unknown Weapon] in the module.
Just then, Sato walked up to the gun and began to stroke it with obvious affection.
"And this is my masterpiece—the HK416. Although it's a civilian version, I privately modified the short-stroke piston system, making it a level above the M4A1 in terms of stability."
As soon as he finished speaking, the box in front of Pei Qi refreshed violently once again!
[Name: HK416 (revised)]
[Structure: Short-stroke air-guided piston]
[Condition: Well-maintained]
"Just as I thought."
Pei Qi instantly understood the operating logic of the information display.
"It is not a universal identification technique, but a 'universal tool for cognitive assistance'."
"Its depth of display depends entirely on my knowledge base and the amount of information I have about the target."
"When I was a novice, it could only show that it was a 'lump of iron.' But when experts explained it, or when I delved into it, it could access the underlying data in real time and concretize the vague concept into precise terms."
Having figured this out, Pei Qi's gaze towards Sato changed.
"Mr. Sato," Pei Qi suddenly interrupted Sato's rambling, pointing to a pile of scattered parts on the workbench.
"Looking at the exterior isn't enough. My 'eyes' need to see more... no, I mean, I want to understand their structure more deeply."
"Can I see what the 'internal organs' of a gun actually look like?"
"Of course! It would be my honor!"
Over the next two hours, Sato personally disassembled a standard M4A1 carbine down to its most basic components: screws and springs.
Then, under Pei Qi's watchful gaze, he reassembled and restored the parts step by step. The more detailed his explanation, the brighter the light shone in Pei Qi's eyes.
This time, the data stream in Pei Qi's field of vision could only be described as a "waterfall".
As the weapon was disassembled, the module was no longer limited to displaying the overall name, but began frantically labeling every single tiny part:
[Component: Reciprocating spring (Material: Piano wire, Fatigue level: Low)]
[Component: Upper casing (Material: 7075-T6 aluminum alloy)]
[Potential Connection: Can be used as a core material for crafting the 'M4A1']
Pei Qi's brain was working at lightning speed, coordinating with the highlighted display of the module to perform high-precision 3D modeling in his mind.
"The inner diameter of the air tube... confirmed."
"Number of coils of the recoil spring...confirmed."
"The bolt's rotation locking angle... confirmed."
With each of Sato's movements, countless scattered fragments of information automatically pieced together, interlocked, and circulated in Pei Qi's mind.
Finally, the last crisp "click" of the gun being cocked rang out.
The JEI interface in the backpack bar vibrated slightly, and a crafting recipe for the M4A1 carbine appeared silently.
……
It's 2 AM, late at night.
Following Sato's suggestion, Pei Qi went to rest, citing the need to "pray more deeply to God."
In the vast gun workshop, only Pei Qi remained, surrounded by walls of cold steel artifacts.
After confirming that no one was around, Pei Qi took out the Ender Box that was emitting purple particles from his backpack.
When his gaze fell on the Ender Box, the information module immediately provided feedback:
[Name: Ender Chest]
[Features: Cross-dimensional storage, spatial folding]
"It seems that for items originally in Minecraft, the mod displays them at the maximum level by default." Pei Qi nodded.
"Now, it's time to verify our 'cognition'."
He skillfully retrieved the basic materials such as iron ingots and wood. Based on the structural principles he had just deciphered, he arranged the synthesis sequence on the ordinary workbench: four iron ingots, three pieces of oak, one iron block…
"Ding!"
With a crisp synthesized sound effect, a meticulously crafted cube with a dark gray metallic texture, camouflage netting hanging on its side, and miniature tool machines and blue drawings scattered on its table appeared in his hand.
Pei Qi focused his attention on the new cube.
[Name: Firearms Workbench]
[Function: Manufacturing and modifying firearms]
"Very good, the module has accepted it."
Pei Qi placed it on the ground, took a deep breath, and opened the familiar interface.
The previously empty list now has a single lit icon—M4A1.
"Materials... iron ingots, industrial plastics (Sato has ready-made engineering plastic sheets here), gunpowder..."
Pei Qi picked up the engineering plastic sheet, and the information module immediately displayed a prompt:
[Name: High-strength Polymer]
[Judgment: Meets the material standards for 'industrial plastics' and can be used for synthesis]
"It can even automatically determine alternative materials? This cheat is really useful."
Pei Qi placed the materials one by one into their corresponding slots. But before clicking the "Start Making" button, his finger paused slightly.
This is not as simple as just consuming materials. The recipe generated by JEI actually invoked Pei Qi's "memory model" of this gun.
If his memory is flawed, such as remembering the wrong material for the firing pin, the resulting weapon will be a piece of scrap metal that is bound to explode.
"Looking back... every single detail."
Pei Qi closed his eyes, and the image of the gun reappeared in his mind, each component clearly visible under the annotations in the information module. After confirming everything was correct, he pressed the synthesize button heavily.
Buzz—Whoosh—Click!
The gun workbench emitted a unique, heavy-metal-like mechanical roar, as if some kind of sophisticated industrial assembly line had been condensed into this cubic meter block.
A few seconds later, a brand-new rifle, emitting a bluish glow, sprang out.
Pei Qi grabbed it and scanned it:
[Name: M4A1 Assault Rifle]
