Chapter 24 Solving the Problem
Chapter 24 Solving the Problem
Gu Shiming looked intently at Wei Hongsi: "What are you planning to do?"
Wei Hongsi explained his plan: "I want to extract one or two of the most representative segments from Solution B and perform 'anti-rendering' simulation analysis on them."
Qian Jiayu nodded: "If your guess is confirmed, it will be very helpful to the company."
Gu Shiming smiled slightly: "Since President Qian agrees, let's go all the way."
Qian Jiayu said, "Does President Gu want to completely revert to Plan B? That is indeed necessary, but it will take a very long time."
"We can do it in two steps," Gu Shiming said thoughtfully. "First, we will perform an 'anti-rendering' simulation analysis on Plan B. The conclusions we draw can be used to answer the inspection team's questions. Then, we will add enough manpower to restore Plan B."
Qian Jiayu said, "That's a good idea."
Wei Hongsi was somewhat surprised.
He originally planned to verify his guesses first before considering further action. His main purpose in reporting to Gu Shiming was to obtain a license to use the CMS.
Unexpectedly, these two had much more radical ideas than him, and it seemed they intended to do this with him.
However, this is understandable.
The original film for Solution B itself had problems, and since Solution B was entirely produced by CMS, there is a significant difference between it and the original film for Solution B.
To give a somewhat inappropriate example, in the former case, the CMS is like a precision machining tool, which criminals use to transform a homemade gun (original film) into a more accurate and longer-range firearm (Option B).
In the latter case, CMS becomes the manufacturer of firearms, and criminals obtain their tools directly from here.
Although Zhiwei Technology also bears responsibility for inadequate supervision, from a legal perspective, the supervisory obligation in the latter situation is far greater than that in the former. With a smaller obligation, the corresponding liability also decreases.
This distinction is not very useful for the game between the same park, but it is very likely to influence the final conclusion when dealing with official investigations.
A crucial task of the rectification work, led by Gu Shiming and assisted by Qian Jiayu, was to deal with the investigations and inquiries from industry regulators and the police.
Gu Shiming immediately called Yu Sheng over, and the four of them held a small meeting in the office to discuss the modeling scheme for "anti-rendering simulation analysis".
Wei Hongsi originally planned to use a frame-by-frame analysis and restoration method to process about 5 seconds of video content. The workload was not very large, and it was estimated that it would take about three hours to complete.
Now that we need to process Option B as a whole, this clumsy method is naturally no longer feasible.
The modeling approach was led by Gu Shiming. Gu, Qian, and Yu all come from technical backgrounds, so they are very experienced in this area.
Although Wei Hongsi lacked work experience and was not very familiar with the operating mechanism of CMS, he had a solid foundation. With guidance from Gu Shiming, he was able to keep up with the pace of the other three.
Gu Shiming used his privileges to create a project team, allowing everyone to communicate and coordinate their work using the WD platform. Relatively speaking, this internal office system offered better security.
This new model is temporarily named WD-IR alpha 1.0, and the project team is also called IR1.
Its function is limited to performing anti-rendering simulation analysis on scheme B to obtain the simulated eye-tracking data of scheme B before it is rendered by CMS.
However, Gu Shiming has reserved a path for this model to be upgraded later, serving as a basic tool for restoring the original image of Solution B.
After more than twenty minutes, the four of them finalized the plan and assigned tasks, and then went about their respective tasks.
Wei Hongsi returned to his workstation on the 16th floor. It was already past 9 p.m., and he had never been to the company at this time since he joined the company. He saw that at least half of the workstations in the common office area were still occupied.
Although I already knew that overtime had become the norm in tech companies, and that the term "corporate slave" wasn't given lightly, seeing this scene still made me feel a bit emotional.
It seems that it's not such a bad thing that Supervisor He Feng doesn't assign himself important tasks.
Wei Hongsi thought to himself with a self-deprecating smile, then turned on his computer and started working.
More than half an hour later, the phone on the table vibrated a few times.
Wei Hongsi tapped his phone screen and saw a message from his brother: "I'm downstairs at your company. I brought what you asked for."
"I'm coming down right away," Wei Hongsi replied, locked his computer screen, and took the elevator downstairs.
Beside the pool in front of the main building's entrance, Wei Hongbo and Wu Wenjun were chatting and smoking.
Seeing Wei Hongsi approach, Wu Wenjun said, "Brother Wei, I'll go upstairs first. Call me anytime if you need anything."
Wei Hongbo nodded and said, "Okay, Mr. Wu, please."
Wu Wenjun greeted Wei Hongsi again and then went back into the building.
"You're smoking again. Aren't you afraid my sister-in-law will scold you?" Wei Hongsi teased.
"You're starting to tell me what to do now." Wei Hongbo glanced at his younger brother and took out a USB drive from his pocket. "All the scandals Peng Jun has done since joining Purple Fox Media are in here. There are three in total."
Wei Hongsi took it: "Aren't there any earlier ones?"
"We haven't found it yet." Wei Hongbo stubbed out his cigarette and threw the butt into the trash can. "According to Shengyong's investigation, Peng Jun was unemployed for two months after being fired from his previous company before he went to Purple Fox Media."
"Dismissed? What's the reason?"
"According to Peng Jun's former colleagues, it was due to performance issues. Sheng Yong is conducting further investigations."
"Oh." Wei Hongsi nodded. "You've met with our CEO Meng?"
"We've talked about it," Wei Hongbo said lightly, without elaborating.
The information Meng Haolin could provide was similar to the footage from the conference room's surveillance camera. Aside from that, it included some details about his interactions with Li Yunxiang. This involved personal privacy, so naturally, he couldn't tell his younger brother.
Wei Hongsi didn't ask any further questions, and waved the USB drive in his hand: "If I find anything, I'll send you a message."
"Okay, I'm going back to the station." Wei Hongbo said, raising his arm and waving. A black sedan drove up.
The driver of the car was also from the Criminal Investigation Detachment, and he was dressed in plainclothes just like Wei Hongbo. Wei Hongsi had seen him before, but couldn't recall his name.
After watching his brother leave, Wei Hongsi turned around and went back to his workstation upstairs.
He plugged the USB drive into the computer, and after the scan was complete, he opened it and saw three groups of GGs inside.
After sorting out my thoughts, I switched to the maintenance account for the university-enterprise cooperation project and logged into the company system. I then handed over the three longest videos from the three groups of GGs to the SW-2 model on the central server for preprocessing.
Then I continued with the previous modeling work. After another hour or so, I finally finished the work and submitted it to Gu Shiming through WD.
At this point, the preprocessing of the three GG videos was complete. Wei Hongsi downloaded the data packets, grouped them, and then sent a message in the IR1 project group's discussion group.
"@Gu Shiming (Cognitive Research Center-01) Mr. Gu, the creative director of Plan B is named Peng Jun. I obtained his other three works from this year through the police and am preparing to use CMS for simulation analysis."
He didn't know if Gu Shiming was aware of the latest developments, so he explained in more detail.
