Chapter 13 Yan Kuo, Death
Chapter 13 Yan Kuo, Death
Yan Kuo maintained his attacking posture, his Yuan energy dissipated, and the fierceness on his face faded away, leaving only extreme fear and pain. He completely lost the ability to resist and stood frozen in place as if he had been immobilized.
"To die beneath my double pupils is your honor."
Li Yi's black hair was loose, and within his double pupils, purple-gold light surged wildly, as if something was condensing and taking shape deep within his pupils.
The next second, in Li Yi's eyes, a purple-gold light suddenly condensed, transforming into a battle halberd over ten feet long.
That was not a phantom formed from primordial energy, but the manifestation of the will of the double pupils.
The halberd shot out from his pupils, silent and swift as a startled bird. Yan Kuo didn't even see how it came; he only saw a purple-gold light flash before his eyes, and then his vision began to spin.
It's not him turning, it's his head turning.
Yan Kuo's head left his neck, flew high into the air, and then fell heavily back down.
"boom…!"
The headless corpse crashed to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust. Blood gushed from its neck, staining the bluestone slabs beneath its feet. Yan Kuo's eyes were wide open, his mouth agape as if he were trying to say something, but he could utter nothing.
The scene was deathly silent.
The surroundings were so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Everyone present froze in place, as if their breath had been abruptly cut off.
The onlookers' pupils constricted, their eyes fixed on the tall figure in the center of the arena, a chill creeping down their spines. No one had expected that Yan Kuo, who was known for his domineering and powerful cultivation in Black Dragon Stronghold, would be so easily beheaded without even a chance to fight back.
The remaining members of Black Dragon Stronghold, who had been so arrogant just moments before, were now deathly pale, trembling uncontrollably. All traces of their previous arrogance had vanished. They stared at the headless corpse on the ground, then at Li Yi with his black hair flying wildly, their hearts filled with utter terror.
Li Yi stood quietly in place, his loose black hair swaying slightly in the wind, and the purple-gold light in his double pupils slowly receded, gradually returning to calm.
He glanced down at the gradually cooling corpse on the ground, his expression completely calm, as if he had merely crushed an ant.
A moment later, someone in the crowd swallowed hard, and low gasps followed. Everyone looked at Li Yi with deep fear and awe.
The ability to conjure a battle halberd with the power of their eyes and to kill with their will—such bizarre and powerful methods were far beyond their comprehension.
A deathly silence enveloped the entire area. The remaining henchmen of Black Dragon Stronghold were already terrified out of their wits, their legs went weak, and they could no longer support themselves.
Witnessing Yan Kuo's head being severed from his body in an instant completely shattered their confidence. No one dared to harbor the slightest hostility, let alone step forward to avenge Yan Kuo.
It's unclear who was the first to have their legs buckle and fall to their knees with a "thud," but the sound of people kneeling followed one after another.
A group of henchmen knelt on the ground in unison, their heads pressed tightly against the ground, barely daring to breathe, their voices trembling uncontrollably as they begged for mercy.
"My lord, spare us! We were blind and should not have offended you!"
"We were forced to follow Yan Kuo's orders; we had no intention of opposing him. We beg you, sir, to have mercy and spare our lives!"
"We'll never dare to act arrogantly and domineeringly again, relying on the name of Black Dragon Stronghold. From now on, we'll definitely behave ourselves!"
The crowd begged for mercy in fear, lest they suffer the same fate as Yan Kuo, being decapitated.
At the back of the crowd, Wu Sha was already terrified and dared not join the others in begging for mercy. He huddled in a corner of the crowd, and while everyone's attention was focused on kneeling and begging for mercy, he quietly lay down on the ground and, using the crowd as cover, slowly crawled backward, like a large worm. He wanted to slip away silently and escape this place of trouble.
He held his breath and moved extremely slowly. He managed to sneak out several meters and was about to reach a corner when a sliver of hope for escape rose in his heart.
Just then, Li Yi, who had been looking down at the group of henchmen with an indifferent expression, suddenly glanced at them sideways.
Those double pupils, which had just calmed down, instantly lit up with a dazzling purple-gold light again, and a chill suddenly locked onto the fleeing Wu Sha.
Li Yi hadn't let anyone in the room slip by from beginning to end, and had already seen through all of his little tricks.
"Trying to leave?"
Before he finished speaking, an extremely condensed beam of light shot out from his double pupils, moving at incredible speed, tearing through the air and arriving in an instant.
Before Wu Sha could even turn around, he felt a sharp pain in the back of his head, and his whole body froze instantly.
With a muffled "thud," the beam of light pierced directly through his skull.
Wu Sha's body swayed, unable to move any further. His head slammed heavily to the ground, and his life force vanished instantly; he died on the spot.
The group of henchmen who were kneeling and begging for mercy trembled violently when they saw this scene. They lowered their heads even further and dared not even breathe loudly. Their fear of Li Yi deepened even further.
Li Yi's gaze swept coldly over the group of henchmen kneeling on the ground. His aura was chilling, but he no longer harbored any murderous intent.
His indifferent voice slowly rang out, spreading throughout the entire venue and reaching everyone's ears: "I will spare your lives today."
Upon hearing this, the henchmen felt a great sense of relief, but they still dared not raise their heads and remained kneeling respectfully on the ground, filled with fear and awe.
"I will not pursue the past today, but from now on, everyone should go their separate ways, go home and live peacefully, make a living honestly, and never again engage in banditry, robbery, or causing chaos in the area."
His gaze swept over everyone, and his tone suddenly turned cold: "If you do not repent and continue to band together to do evil and commit wrongdoings, your fate will be exactly the same as Yan Kuo and Wu Sha's, without any mercy."
The henchmen immediately kowtowed repeatedly, their tone respectful yet fearful: "We will remember your teachings, sir!"
"From now on, I will never dare to be a bandit again. I will definitely repent and start a new life!"
"I will never cause trouble again and will live a quiet and law-abiding life!"
No one dared to utter a single dissent. Having just witnessed two tragic deaths, they were completely terrified by Li Yi's strength and ruthlessness, and dared not harbor any thoughts of disobedience.
Looking at the trembling henchmen, Li Yi's double pupils lost their brilliance, returning to their usual clear eyes. He didn't glance at them again, turned around, and strode away, leaving behind only the terrified henchmen and two cold corpses on the ground.
Only after Li Yi had completely disappeared from their sight did the group of henchmen dare to slowly get up from the ground, their faces still showing signs of shock.
Some people were picking up the weapons and debris scattered around the scene with lingering fear, while whispering in hushed tones, afraid that if they raised their voices, they would attract the attention of that evil spirit again.
"That scared me to death! I thought we were all going to end up like the boss and the second-in-command."
"That person is terrifying. Killing people is as easy as taking candy from a baby. They are someone we can't afford to mess with."
