Chapter 307 Melvin (Two Chapters Combined)
"Don't suddenly vomit blood, Melvin!"
The white-haired youth straightened his chest and punched down... but it seemed he used too much force, and he coughed so hard he couldn't breathe.
"Daijiongbu, Daijiongbu... Waaaaah, waaaah, cough cough cough..."
Weber stared at the life form before him, which would vomit blood with the slightest movement.
He vomits blood while standing, vomits blood while walking, and looks like a blood-stained zombie when he runs.
It's a strange thing that's only good-looking on the outside, but it can't survive a day without hematopoietic drugs, and it's embarrassing to take it anywhere.
The whole person...
To be honest, Weber wanted to just pretend he wasn't there, but he couldn't.
The man in front of me is named Melvin Weinz. He has albinism, and his long eyelashes and hair are pure white, having lost all color.
With light blue eyes and an unpleasantly handsome appearance, he would surely stand out even on screen.
It was a branch of a prestigious family, a branch of a monarchical family.
If he hadn't been born with a weak constitution, he might have risen to a position quite different from the extremely special status of the Fes, the priestess.
Weber sighed and slowly shook his head.
"You're still the same as ever, always coughing up blood. By the way, what are you doing here?"
"Oh dear~ I heard some news before that there were albino spots appearing here, which I found very interesting, so I came here. I was really looking forward to seeing beautiful Arab women, but it turned out to be such a miserable sight."
Melvin spread his hands, his expression seemingly somewhat helpless, but his tone conveyed a sense of something indescribable.
Indeed, after all, this guy is a vicious, intelligent criminal, and a self-aware, pleasure-seeking criminal.
In short, he's a pleasure-seeker!
Weber Velvet slapped his forehead in exasperation, but he still noticed the unfamiliar word in Melvin's words.
"Albinism, what is that?"
"Waveper, didn't you know? Well, that's right. After all, this is a new concept that only came about after the Holy Grail War in Japan ended. It's even a hot topic at the Clock Tower."
The young man grinned broadly, revealing a set of gleaming white teeth, and proudly flaunted the knowledge that Weber was unaware of.
"It's a bit complicated to explain, but you can think of it as—our world is enveloped by a larger, whiter otherworld, and the whitening point is where the two worlds meet."
"Ah, is that so..." Weber's expression was somewhat indifferent, because he didn't understand and even thought the guy in front of him was talking nonsense.
"Hey, Weber—don't you find this kind of thing interesting? Our world is being eaten away little by little, and we might even see it die before we do in our lifetime!"
Webber simply rolled his eyes at Melvin.
"It doesn't mean anything... Wait, what did you say? The world is going to die?"
“That’s right, that’s the hottest topic at the Clock Tower right now,” Melvin replied casually, as if it were a trivial matter to him.
Weber remained silent for a moment.
Admittedly, even if the world were to die, it would have nothing to do with people like them.
Seeing that Weber was no longer speaking, Melvin, unable to contain himself, smiled and snapped his fingers.
“Hey, speaking of which, this matter is also quite related to you, Weber.”
"How could that be? You overestimate me. Where would I get the ability to destroy the world?"
Weber responded casually, taking it as a joke, and kept his attention focused on finding an escape route. After all, this unserious guy beside him was of no use other than muttering to himself.
"I didn't say you were going to destroy the world. I was saying that the Holy Grail War you participated in might be the beginning of this whole thing. If you don't want to hear it, then forget it."
Upon hearing these words, Weber paused, his expression becoming subtle.
"...What exactly are you trying to say, Melvin?"
Melvin, seeing his reaction, smiled even more broadly, like a mischievous child who had finally found some fun.
“That makes sense. Although there’s no concrete evidence, all indications suggest that the timeline of the Holy Grail War ceremony held in Japan coincides with the timeline of the Pure White Otherworld being attached to our world. As a magician, you should know what that means, right?”
Before Weber could speak, he continued:
"You borrowed money from me back then, probably to participate in that Holy Grail War. So, I'd really like to hear about your experience."
Melvin suddenly jogged up to Weber and placed his hands on Weber's shoulders, staring intently at him with his blue eyes, looking very eager to learn.
Weber was somewhat flustered and reluctantly turned his head away, but he couldn't withstand the creditor's persistent questioning, since he had indeed promised to tell him about his experiences in Japan.
"I'm sorry, I promised you back then, and I can't keep any of that promise now. I accomplished nothing in that Holy Grail War..."
............
"So this is what the Holy Grail War is like. It's quite interesting. With so many monsters coexisting, it's no wonder that Professor Kenneth died there. But Waver, you did manage to come back alive from there."
After listening to Weber Velvet's account, Melvin nodded and commented as follows.
"I didn't die there, you must be disappointed."
Weber slowly looked away, clearly not wanting to continue the conversation.
But Melvin seemed to have thought of something and said with great interest:
"Waveber, the heroic spirit you summoned is Alexander the Great Iskandar, isn't it?"
"Yes what's the matter?"
Weber responded without looking up.
"Hmm... Have I ever told you something? Albinism spots usually appear in places with extremely high mystery. According to the investigations of the clock tower magicians, the phenomenon of alkalization and erosion usually only occurs in ancient ruins, ancient tombs, or the edge of other worlds."
Melvin brought up the topic.
"In areas where this phenomenon occurs, some magical beasts and phantom beasts often accidentally fall into the real world through these rifts. This is probably why the magician Balzan, who captured us, has become rich so quickly in just a few months."
Upon hearing this, Weber suddenly turned around, his gaze fixed on Melvin, and said with a somewhat puzzled expression.
"There's no need to beat around the bush, what exactly are you trying to say?"
“You’re really frightening to look at, Webber,” Melvin said with a smile.
"What I mean is, since there is whitening and erosion here, it means that this place is a place with a high degree of mystery. Waver, you didn't return to the Clock Tower immediately after the Holy Grail War, probably because you wanted to see the traces left by the Heroic Spirits in the Holy Grail War in history, right?"
He paused and continued:
"I've heard that this is where Alexander the Great's Iskandar ultimately died..."
Weber clenched his fingers tightly, as if he hadn't heard clearly, and asked again:
"What did you say?"
Melvin, still smiling, said:
"This is where Iskandar died. You must know that, Weber, to have come here, right?"
"That's not the sentence. Where do you mean albinism spots usually appear?"
Weber's voice rose uncontrollably, surprising even Melvin.
He did want to see how Weber would react after learning about this place, but he didn't expect the reaction to be so intense.
Even so, he repeated the conversation he had just had.
"Ancient ruins, ancient tombs, or other mysterious places like the edge of another world."
After a moment of silence, Webber Velvet spoke again:
"...Melvin, I want to destroy this place...Can you help me?"
"Really? But didn't you just say that this place is not a good place to stay?"
Melvin then raised his finger, pointed at Weber, and said nonchalantly.
He casually closed one eye, and pressed the index finger of his other hand against his cheek, looking extremely annoying.
"I said... destroy this workshop!"
"Okay! You said it yourself, Weber, come on, hurry up! The sooner the better! The bugle has sounded to signal the start! Hahaha!"
Upon hearing these words, the refreshed young man, Melvin, loudly proclaimed.
......
Are you really going to do this?
"If you don't want to do it, then run away."
The two hid in a corner, one in front of the other, observing the ongoing excavation work at the ruins ahead.
There were at least ten armed guards.
This number is not large; in fact, it's a bit too small.
Even Barzan isn't here.
This was indeed the best time for the two of them to take action.
"Don't joke around. You know I'm physically weak, and it would be a huge loss if I didn't watch something this interesting from the VIP seats."
"Then let's double-check the plan."
Barzan's workshop, how should I put it?
It was less a magician's hideout and more a hastily constructed dwelling for nouveau riche.
While not exactly crude, it appears hasty and rudimentary compared to the meticulous work of the other magicians in the Clock Tower.
The only thing worth mentioning about this workshop is the magical barrier set up above the spiritual vein.
Any magician who comes out of the Clock Tower can immediately recognize this barrier as a replica of the magical barrier used by the Lords to mine the Great Tomb of Albion.
Although it was a very basic version, it was still a first-rate product.
It is not just a barrier, but a perfect system that integrates protection, blockade and restraint.
The flow of spiritual energy is cleverly gathered within the barrier, making any intruder feel as if they are trapped in a quagmire.
More importantly, it can counteract an intruder's magic with its spiritual veins, quickly imposing restrictions and giving them almost no chance to retaliate.
Although its complexity is far less than the formal spells used by Lords to mine spirit tombs, even this crude version is not to be underestimated.
