Chapter 245: Breakthrough
Chapter 245: Breakthrough
Sephiran looked at Kadyn with a terrified expression. "Look Harrod, we can talk things through... you are from a majestic lineage of World Snatchers. Why bother—"
Before he could complete his sentence, Kadyn lifted his right hand and an invisible hand grasped the demon. Kadyn eyed him emotionlessly and clutched his hand.
Sephiran screamed and then his body burst into a bloody mist. However, Kadyn did not stop; he climbed over the sky and arrived where Sephiran was standing just a moment prior.
"You think you can deceive me with such a cheap trick?" Kadyn sneered and once again he waved his hand.
"Release me!" a scream sounded and a translucent figure appeared in Kadyn’s grasp, struggling. No matter what Sephiran did, he failed to get out of Kadyn’s World Snatcher claw.
Kadyn lifted his head and eyed Alerathla in the distance. "I want you to torment him with your flame. Do not let him die."
After that, he shoved Sephiran’s soul towards the Flame Sparrow. As soon as Sephiran was released he tried to escape; however Alerathla arrived and clasped him in her claws. "A bug like you dare to kill our people and now you think you can leave just like that? Fat chance!"
Then her flames covered Sephiran. "Ahhhhh!!!" The demon screamed and his agonized shrieks echoed throughout the city.
At this moment the Magic Council and Aleera had also arrived. When they looked at the scene in front of them, they could not help but shiver. Especially the elders of the Magic Council, they were terrified. Furthermore, most of their elders had died in the war.
Now only a few weak elders remained. Kali was dead and so was Malion, the elf leader. Now the Council was without a leader.
"Ahhh!!" Sephiran continued to scream. His screams were like a salve on everyone’s wounds.
Kadyn appeared in front of Elora who carried Cecelia. He took the corpse from her and a painful expression appeared across his face. He stood there for hours as he eyed Cecelia’s cold corpse. He knew that after today he would not be able to see her ever again.
After hours later he took a deep breath and eyed his companions who were standing around him. Other than Cecelia, they had also lost Hot Rod and Elder Jyn from Avibria City.
Then he looked at the battlefield and waved his. Three graves appeared. He walked towards one of the graves and placed Cecelia’s body inside. For the last time, he looked at her, caressed her beautiful face, and began to put soil over her body.
His companions joined him. Dion also placed his father into a grave and Barret Duncan placed Elder Jyn’s body in the last grave.
As they buried, their eyes were filled with tears. They were companions and friends. They had fought with many enemies and came on top every time. Who would have thought that they would lose their closest companions, their family, like this?
Kadyn eyed his companions and said, "Go bury other martyrs as well."
There were thousands of bodies littering the battlefield. Obviously, Kadyn could not leave their bodies lying out there. He did not know those people, but they were the heroes.
After his companions went away, Kadyn remained standing in front of Cecelia’s grave. Time passed and two days. Kadyn was still standing in front of her grave. Many people came to check on him, but no one spoke anything. They left him alone.
On the third day, it began snowing. However, Kadyn remained standing in front of her grave. However, now his eyes were closed.
Now his companions were also begging to worry about his condition. Elora came to him and tried to talk to him, however he never replied. He was covered in snow, standing there like a statue.
However, unbeknownst to them Kadyn knew everything that was happening around him. He could feel every bird and animal in the city. He could see the broken buildings and barren streets. He could see orphans and street urchins fighting for food. He could see women holding crying infants and he could see the criminals running amok.
Elora and others tried to control them, but the city was too big for them. They also did not have enough resources. Therefore with Aleera’s help, they took control of the Magic Council. However, they still could not control the city’s situation.
And as the snow began to fall, the condition of the city became even worse. Most of the buildings in the city had been destroyed in the battle. Therefore, the people could only live on the streets. However, not everyone was a mage. They could not take the terrible weather.
However, there were also some people living comfortably, sitting in front of a hearth, lying in soft beds and under cozy blankets.
The city was in such a terrible condition and yet these people did not bother to help a single person.
And as Kadyn continued to watch everything, his consciousness started to change. He finally understood how to make a breakthrough. On the Assimilation stage one needed to merge with the rune. However, to go beyond that stage one needed to merge with the world.
That’s what he was doing.
Suddenly Kadyn opened his eyes and eyed the sky. Dark clouds were gathering above his head, and then the thunder started to roar and lightning flashed.
Finally, the clouds completely formed and a bolt of lightning fell toward him. Kadyn snorted and lifted his clawed hand. Before the lightning could hit him, he grabbed it and absorbed it inside his body.
Eventually, another lightning struck towards him, even stronger and he again absorbed it inside his body. This happened nine times before the clouds vanished and a clear sky appeared. It wasn’t snowing either.
"What was that?" said Elora above one of the buildings.
"Finally, I can leave this lower realm," said Alerathla who was gliding through the sky. Then she intensified her fire and Sephiran screamed. His torment still continued. He was begging for death, but Alerathla showed only disdain.
Aleera eyed at Kadyn from a distance and a deep emotion appeared across her face. For how long she was trying to break through? She had never thought that Kadyn would transcend before her.
"Everyone," he said. "The city is in a terrible condition it is our duty to help the poor and orphans and widows. Most of those orphans and widows are those people’s families who died protecting this city. We cannot leave them like this—and anyone who refuses to help, break their limbs and throw them on the cold streets."
After that Kadyn worked with his companions to stabilize the city. It took some time but they successfully provided food and shelter to orphans and widows. And those who refused to help... they were begging on the streets of Vrilas with broken limbs.
After doing all that Kadyn gathered his companions. He eyed them and asked in a serious tone, "Do you want to leave this world?"
Most of them were confused but people like Aleera and Elora and a few others became excited. They knew what Kadyn was talking about.
Aleera suppressed her excitement and asked, "Do you have a method to help us?"
Kadyn curled his lip and said, "I’m a World Snatcher. I can even snatch fortune and transform the fate of others. What is a simple breakthrough?"
After he awakened his bloodline, he had learned many secrets about himself. He realized how majestic his bloodline really was. The World Snatchers could change fate and snatch the fortune of others. They could transform worlds. Turning a barren world into majestic and a majestic one into barren.
Kadyn eyed his companions and said, "Come here. I will show you how vast is this universe."
