Su shrugged: "Then I'll consider it a loss, and I'll give you a sports car. But if I win..."
"I am your sports car!" Chris boldly offered her bargaining chip.
Su raised her hand without commenting.
"Snapped!"
"It's a word."
"It's a word."
Madam Su stood up: "It's getting late, let's go back to our rooms and rest."
"it is good."
"Good night."
"Good night."
After saying goodnight to each other, the two turned off the lights and went upstairs to their respective rooms to rest.
Back in his room, Su took out the remaining African sleeping grass and the hair he had just collected from Chris, and drank it all in one gulp.
Night passed quietly.
The next morning, Chris seemed to be in much better spirits. She thanked Nidi, who had prepared breakfast, and went to Sue's side.
"I had a dream last night."
"Nightmare?" Su asked casually.
Chris shook her head: "It wasn't a nightmare, I dreamt about you."
Su asked in 'surprise', 'What did you dream about me about?'
"You've been by my side the whole time! Even though I know it's a dream, it really makes me feel at ease. Thank you."
Even if Freddy didn't scare Chris in her dreams, she would probably still have nightmares after witnessing her friend's tragic death.
If you're thinking about something, you'll dream about it at night.
Sue entered Chris's dream last night, partly to learn more, and partly to see if Freddy would come, or... if there were any signs.
Unfortunately, Chris's dream remained normal until she woke up at dawn. Freddy did not appear, and there was no sign of it turning into a 'horrifying' nightmare.
Dean's funeral took place as scheduled.
Although his death was sudden, the means were extreme, and it saddened those who truly cared about him, no one suspected that there was anything wrong with his death.
Only—Chris!
At the funeral, Chris, whose emotions had stabilized somewhat, was overcome with sadness again at the sight of the scene.
In her dazed state, Chris saw a little girl in a dress, and in the blink of an eye, several cuts appeared on the little girl's body.
Chris looked around and realized that no one else seemed to have noticed the little girl at all.
Suddenly, a hand burst out from the ground and grabbed the little girl's foot.
Chris was startled, then realized she had dozed off and that it was just a dream.
Dream?!
Chris felt uneasy as she recalled Sue's words.
After the funeral, Chris looked at the photos Dean had taken since childhood placed beside the grave and surprisingly recognized herself in them, but she had no recollection of the photo.
She remembered that she met Dean in high school, but the photos told her that they had known each other since childhood.
"Condolences."
Nancy came to Chris's side and comforted her in a low voice.
Chris said, "He—he kept talking about nightmares, do you know anything about that?"
"Why do you ask that?" Nancy was a little surprised; she wasn't familiar with Dean.
“Someone told me that you, like him, have been plagued by nightmares lately.” Chris looked at Nancy and noticed a moment of surprise and panic in Nancy’s eyes.
I was right.
No, Su was right. Nancy really was plagued by nightmares.
"What exactly is going on?" Chris asked, grabbing Nancy's hand.
Nancy shook her head: "I also want to know what happened. The person you mentioned, could it be that wealthy Su family? How did he know I had a nightmare too?"
"I don't know... but he said there might be ghosts!"
"ghost?"
Chris: "I know this is absurd, but Dean's death is too abnormal. He had nightmares before, and you had nightmares too. I accidentally dozed off just now and saw something."
"Also, I clearly only met Dean in high school, yet I appeared in his childhood photos. This is all too abnormal."
"No, I have to find out why!"
Chris released Nancy and hurriedly turned to leave. Nancy thought for a moment and then followed.
I drove back to Chris's house, where Su was home alone, watching TV.
Seeing Chris hurriedly bring Nancy in, Su turned off the TV and said with a knowing smile, "Looks like I won."
"Yes, you won."
Chris didn't dwell on winning or losing at all; she wouldn't lose out no matter what.
Now, she wants to know the truth even more.
"This show is quite interesting. I'll watch it first. You can go to the garage attic (Wang Hao) and take a look. There you'll find some answers to your questions."
Mr. Su pointed in the direction of the garage and turned the TV volume back up.
Chris frowned slightly, thought for a moment, and then turned and led Nancy to the garage.
The attic of the garage contains Chris's childhood clothes and photos. Seeing these will remind Chris that she knew Dean and others when she was a child.
There's no need for Su to explain further.
Of course, another reason is that the programs on TV are indeed very attractive.
A documentary about chess.
Su didn't know anything about chess, let alone any grandmasters. At first, he was just browsing casually, but as he read on, he found the story of one of the grandmasters to be very interesting.
Most importantly, it sounds somewhat familiar.
It seems to be a new American TV series that received rave reviews before he time-traveled.
……
P.S.: I ran some errands during the day, and only just got home to start writing.
Chapter 294 The Devil Jinchuriki's Thoughts
Beth Harmon—Su recorded her life and the dates of some key periods, and plans to travel back in time to see for himself whether she was as cool and stylish as the documentary portrays her when she played chess!
"boom!"
Chris and Nancy returned carrying flashlights and a box.
Inside the box was a princess dress for a little girl, but the dress had several sharp cuts on it, just like the one worn by the little girl Chris had seen in her dream.
In addition, there are some photos from when I was a child.
Chris and Nancy were stunned when they saw the photos.
They had no recollection of the photos, but each person's name was written on the back, with Dean prominently listed.
"So...we really were in the same kindergarten before?" Chris asked incredulously.
Nancy was also shocked: "I never imagined that I knew Dean when I was a child."
"How did you know these things were in the garage attic?" Chris asked Sue, puzzled.
Madam Su coughed softly and beckoned the two girls to sit quietly beside her.
Spoiler alert mini-lesson, let's begin!
"Many years ago, when you were in kindergarten, there was a gardener named Freddie who was very popular with the children. He was very kind to them, but he harbored a heinous and perverse mind."
"Later, the parents found out what he had done to you. The angry parents cornered him in an abandoned factory and burned him alive. After that, the parents tacitly hid the news, and the matter gradually faded away."
"No, that can't be!" Chris stared wide-eyed in shock, finding it hard to believe that such a thing could have happened.
Given Sue's previous 'miraculous' performance, Chris and Nancy, though instinctively unwilling to believe the fact, were ultimately inclined to believe Sue's account based on reason.
"Was Dean killed by the ghost of Freddy Krueger who burned at the stake? Why would he do that? Was it revenge for what happened back then?"
"On the one hand, and on the other hand, it's just his nature."
"He...he killed Dean in his dream? Then...how do we stop Freddy from killing us in his dream?"
Nancy asked the crucial question.
Su smiled and said, "Freddy won't appear as long as I'm not asleep, or... we could try bringing Freddy out of the dream and into reality. In the real world, he's just like any other person and not difficult to deal with."
"Is there no other way?" Nancy asked, somewhat disappointed.
Ms. Su turned her head away and continued watching TV, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.
Of course, there are methods.
His purpose in coming to Elm Street was for Chris and Freddy. Now, Chris's problem is half solved. It's uncertain whether Ruby will appear or when she will appear. As for Freddy... that's easy to solve.
Sue was unsure whether Freddy could enter his dream, given his strong mental power and, needless to say, his soul strength; Freddy's current abilities might make it difficult.
It's okay if he doesn't come in, I'll just go in.
Nancy stayed a little longer before saying goodbye and leaving, presumably to continue investigating Freddy's matter once she got home.
"You...don't like Nancy?" As soon as Nancy left, Chris came to Su's side and asked hesitantly.
Chris isn't stupid. Sue knows so much about them and Freddy's affairs; there's no way she only has these two ways to deal with Freddy.
