Chapter 4 is not about spells, it's just magic.
Chapter 4 is not about spells, it's just magic.
Wandless spellcasting is a very advanced skill that not all wizards possess. This was something Flitwick didn't mention, and Owen didn't ask either. He simply considered this skill to be the wizarding world's "preschool education."
Every power needs a solid foundation, and magic is no exception.
With this attitude, Owen studied very seriously. Although he hadn't mastered it yet, he found that this technique was very useful for managing his own magic. At least now he could control most of the magic flow in his body, instead of letting the magic run wild and being helpless as before.
This kind of visible progress is naturally inspiring, so Europeans became even more serious about their studies.
Hogwarts is huge. Although life is somewhat routine, a lot of time is wasted on the road. Half an hour a day adds up to five hours in ten days and fifteen hours in a month. Upon reflection, Owen realized that wasting time like this was irresponsible towards his own life!
So, is there a faster, time-saving magic?
Have!
To shift and change form.
That is, the spell Dumbledore used to bring himself from the Ministry of Magic to the gates of Hogwarts, but Hogwarts Castle has the Anti-Transmigration Charm, so this spell couldn't be used.
Fox can help, and so can the house-elves, but these are all just helping out. Irving doesn't want to trouble them too much. He needs to understand that this isn't something he'll do in a day or two, but something he'll have to persist with for a very long time.
Therefore, he had to find another way, and so he thought of flying.
The wizard's flying vehicle is a broom, which fits the setting of the cartoon. But then another problem arises: this is a school. He can use the flying broom during the holidays, but what if school starts?
Breaking the rules just for one's own convenience is inappropriate, so we need to come up with another solution.
"Flight Spell?"
Professor Flitwick laughed after hearing this: "There is no such spell. If you want to fly simply, besides using a broom, you can also use the levitation spell, like this... Yugadimur Leviosa."
After casting a levitation spell on his clothes, Professor Flitwick floated up like a balloon, swaying precariously.
But Owen wasn't satisfied. It could fly, but it was too slow. What he wanted was a magic that didn't need to fly too high, but had to be fast to save travel time.
After failing to find similar magic in the library, Owen decided to create one himself.
Magic is a power, and any spell requires the support of magic. However, it is transformed into different forms through the processing of spells to achieve the results desired by the wizard.
Therefore, spells are very important, because simply outputting magic power is basically useless, since most wizards have limited magic power.
But he was different. His magic was growing stronger every day. Every time he woke up, Owen could feel that his magic had grown a little more. He didn't know if this was good or bad, but every day he would waste a lot of magic. Dumbledore didn't have a good solution for this.
Instead of wasting it, why not use it to do something worthwhile?
Magic can be cast with a wand. When learning wandless spellcasting, Professor Flitwick also taught how to cast magic with the hands. So, if the hands can be used, can the feet?
It's simply a matter of casting it; no spell processing is required...
Become!
Although it was only twenty centimeters off the ground, I did indeed fly, and the energy consumption... well, actually, there wasn't much consumption. It was just a little bit of magic power, less than what I had wasted...
Simply lean your body forward, forward!
Then left, right, and back...
It's pretty simple, like riding a balance bike.
The magic consumption wasn't high, but the mental strain was considerable. After flying for less than half an hour, Owen had to stop. He felt a bit dizzy, which was an adverse reaction to the depletion of his energy.
But he was happy because this reaction could be improved with more practice. As long as he could make turning and changing direction instinctive while flying, he wouldn't need to expend any energy on it.
Professor Flitwick said that magic is all about practice; the more skillfully you use it, the greater its power!
"Good morning, Mr. Octopus!"
Every day when he runs, Kyrie Irving would see a giant octopus in the Black Lake, and he would greet it warmly, and the octopus would respond enthusiastically, waving its tentacles covered in suckers at him.
Good morning, everyone!
Good morning, Mr. Irving!
The early-rising house-elves have grown accustomed to the enthusiastic little wizard and no longer burst into tears simply because of a greeting or a hello, as they used to. Now, they can only quietly wipe away their tears.
Mr. Owen's health is too weak; it's their fault. The food they prepared didn't help Mr. Owen get stronger quickly...
"Good morning, Mrs. Liu, who assaulted me!"
The Whomping Willow stretched out a thin branch. Irving waved his hand, gently striking the branch together, like two acquaintances greeting each other with a light high-five...
"Good morning, YaYa!"
Hagrid hadn't gotten up yet, but his big black dog, Tooth, was up very early. It wagged its tail at Owen and then lay down again.
The little wizard possesses an inexplicable charm that makes people and animals alike become his friends in the shortest amount of time. The most notable among them is not a human or any other animal, but Fawkes, the phoenix who used to prefer dozing in the headmaster's office. Now, whenever he has free time, he spends his time on the little wizard's head.
As for Owen, whenever he didn't have a book in his hands, he would hold it in his arms or let it snuggle up to him while he quietly read.
But Mrs. Pince was very nervous!
The phoenix is a mythical beast, representing many positive things, but its appearance in the library is not so good. A phoenix, a library... If it were to burn any unworthy book, Mrs. Pins would probably go mad.
So now, whenever Irving reads, he moves to the steps outside the library whenever Fox comes.
Fortunately, Fox doesn't come often, only once every two days. After staying for two hours, it goes back.
But today was different. When Fox arrived, Owen was flying close to the ground at great speed toward the greenhouse. After circling Owen once, Fox realized that it could not land safely on Owen's head, so it could only choose the next best spot: Owen's arms.
"Good morning, Fox, you've gotten heavier again!"
"Chirp!"
In response to Fox's expressed dissatisfaction, Irving laughed and said, "That's a good thing, it shows you're growing!"
Professor Sprout was used to getting up early and then coming to the greenhouse to take care of the plants, but today, she was a little stunned because she saw the little wizard carrying the phoenix, flying over with his feet off the ground.
She was terrified!
As soon as Owen landed, she rushed over and patted him all over. Only after feeling his body temperature and heartbeat did she breathe a sigh of relief: "You scared me to death, darling! I almost thought you were like Professor Binns! But just now… what kind of magic did you use?"
Owen chuckled: "Professor, it's not magic, just a rudimentary application of magical power."
