Chapter 23: Having to attend classes, having to attend classes again.
Chapter 23: Having to attend classes, having to attend classes again.
Today is Sunday, so after their morning exercise, the little wizards have nothing else to do. As long as they prepare their things for tomorrow's classes, they can wander around the castle in twos and threes, exploring its mysteries.
Meanwhile, Owen was in Professor Snape's office, with two timetables in his hands: one for the classes he was to attend and the other for the classes he was to attend.
In his first class, he was a student, learning knowledge; in his second class, he was to teach the first-year students.
Monday morning: Herbalism class; afternoon: Charms class.
Tuesday morning: Transformation class; afternoon: free.
Wednesday morning, empty; afternoon, empty.
Thursday morning: Charms class; afternoon: History of Magic.
Friday morning is free, afternoon is potions class, and evening is astronomy class.
This "free time" simply means that he doesn't have to teach, but he won't be idle either, because he still has to go to class during this time, especially on Wednesdays when he has a full day of classes.
"Professor, isn't this inappropriate?" Owen frowned, looking at Snape. "I haven't even figured it out myself yet, how can I teach others? Especially your Potions class, I don't want to miss a single one."
We didn't have wands before, but now we do, and we finally don't have to deal with herbs all the time anymore, but we've lost our classes?
Kyrie Irving wouldn't stand for it!
Snape smiled, but his tone remained aloof and stiff: "Of course, but your potions skills are good enough to teach first-year students. Even so, you'll still need to come to my office for extra lessons every Saturday afternoon."
Irving finally smiled: "Okay, Professor, this is a little gift I made myself for you."
This is an alchemical artifact that Nico Mailer casually made while he was studying under him. It's a pair of glasses without legs, and its function isn't very significant; it simply allows the wearer to have a 360-degree field of vision.
Snape tried them on and nodded in satisfaction. He had a lot of potions to make, so he usually brewed several potions together. Sometimes, he would have problems because of the limited viewing angle. Now, with these glasses, the problem was solved.
He was very satisfied, and the more he tried them on, the more satisfied he became. But when he came to the auditorium to eat wearing the glasses, he discovered that Professor McGonagall, Professor Flitwick, and Professor Sprout all wore the same glasses as him.
The three of them also saw Snape's and then laughed at the same time. The little wizard is so kind to everyone!
Just as Snape was about to turn stern, Professor Flitwick chuckled, "Owen is so thoughtful. These glasses he gave me give me a top-down perspective, so I don't have to stand too high to see all the young wizards in class."
Professor Sprout laughed, "My glasses can indicate the temperature and humidity. I tried them out, and they're fantastic! With them, my greenhouse plants will definitely thrive!"
Professor McGonagall laughed as well: "Mine is for processing my documents. It will help me compile all kinds of data, so I don't have to bother with the calculations anymore."
After they finished speaking, the three heads of the department looked at Snape, who said in a cool tone, "Mine has a 360-degree view, which is very useful."
Everyone was pleased with the gifts from the young wizards, but when Snape looked around and didn't see a particular wizard, he frowned unhappily: "Why isn't Owen here for dinner? Did he lose track of time again while reading?"
Professor Flitwick chuckled: "Don't worry, at Hogwarts, even if Dumbledore goes hungry, Owen won't. Right now, he's probably in the headmaster's office, questioning Dumbledore about why he doesn't have flying or divination lessons."
……
"If you take flying lessons, you'll miss a spells lesson; if you take divination lessons, you'll miss a transfiguration lesson. Darling, tell me, how should we arrange this?"
When Dumbledore asked him this, Owen's lips twitched. He really wanted to say that if he didn't have to teach first-year students, he wouldn't lose anything...
But the professors also said that there was a reason for having him teach first-year students. It wasn't because the professors were lazy, but because they wanted him to develop new understandings and deepen his impressions through teaching, and to try to reach a whole new level.
Is there anything else to say?
"So, is there any way I can avoid missing any classes?"
"Yes, there is a time-tamper, but unfortunately, Owen, you're only a freshman, so you can't apply to use it."
Okay! Okay, okay!
The little wizard was rarely angry!
When you asked me to teach first-year students, why didn't you mention that I was a first-year student?
After leaving the principal's office, Irving turned left, walked ten steps, and entered his bedroom. He changed his clothes, then went into the study next door, picked out a brand new notebook, and on the first page, heavily wrote down a sentence:
The rules are made by strength, and serve strength!
……
A brand new day begins. When the young wizards from Gryffindor and Slytherin arrive at the greenhouse for Herb Class in the morning, they are dumbfounded to learn that it is Owen who is giving the class!
"Alright, students, I know this is surprising, but just be surprised for a minute. Being surprised for too long isn't good. Now, can anyone tell me what this plant is called?"
"White lichen!"
"Very good, five points for Gryffindor, for Hermione! So, what is its main purpose?"
"treat!"
"Excellent! Slytherin, five points for Draco! Now, does anyone know its most important trait?"
In this lesson, correct answers earned points, and incorrect answers didn't deduct points. Both Gryffindor and Slytherin students showed great enthusiasm, and Owen was also very engaged. However, as the lesson was nearing its end, he suddenly noticed a problem…
The extra points were a bit excessive.
In the first lesson, Gryffindor students gained 100 points, with Hermione alone gaining 90 points, while Slytherin students gained 95 points. The highest scorer gained 20 points, and the scores were distributed very evenly.
"Slytherins may leave now. Gryffindors, please stay behind."
However... no one left, not even the little snakes of Slytherin.
Irving ignored them and addressed the Gryffindors instead: "You were all sorted into Gryffindor because you have brave hearts. So, tell me, what is bravery?"
Hermione instinctively wanted to raise her hand, but halfway up, she suddenly put it down again, because there was no standard answer to this question.
"Being naughty and challenging school rules?" Owen squinted. "School rules, fundamentally, are meant to protect the basic safety of us students here. Challenging the rules is tantamount to challenging your own and other students' lives! You may not care about your own lives, but I ask you, who among you has the right to decide the lives of others? So, this isn't called bravery!"
The lion cubs had just started school, but it must be said that on their very first day, quite a few of them attempted to go out at night...
So when they heard what Irving said, they all felt a little guilty.
True courage is speaking out against injustice, standing up to help those in need when others are in danger, and holding on to hope even in the most desperate times. That is true courage!
The lion cubs' passion was instantly ignited, because they thought Irving was absolutely right!
"But without sufficient strength, so-called courage will only implicate others, even those who love you most!"
Irving spoke faster: "When faced with injustice, you raised your voices for justice, but you could only raise your voices because you lacked the strength to stop it. When faced with danger, you bravely stood up, but because you lacked the strength to stop the danger, you implicated even more people."
That...that makes sense...
"So, where does strength come from? Does it fall from the sky?" Owen flicked the bonus record: "In the entire grade, only two people got bonuses for attending class. The rest of you, did you not have the books? If your loved ones were injured and needed treatment before this class, and the white rash was right beside you, but you missed the opportunity for treatment because you hadn't read the book, didn't recognize it, and didn't know its effects, how much would you hate yourselves?"
That's a very strong statement!
It wasn't just the lion cubs that trembled; the little snakes shuddered too, because the same words applied to them.
"get out of class dismissed!!"
The little lions walked out of the greenhouse in two neat rows, one with their heads down, which startled Professor Sprout who was hiding in the shadows!
"Could something have happened?!"
