Chapter 52 How Dare Mudbloods Insult Purebloods?
Chapter 52 How Dare Mudbloods Insult Purebloods?
Arthur sneered at Lucius's words. The Department for Prohibiting the Misuse of Muggle Goods consisted of only two people; this fellow calling himself "Director" was surely a deliberate act.
"Ha! Lucius, don't give me that crap!"
"If we're talking about power and influence, who can compare to you? To be able to buy the position of Hogwarts Head of State, you must have sold quite a few dark magic items, right?"
"Oh, Arthur, the Ministry of Magic has not found any Dark Magic items in my house."
"So? Should I compliment you on how well you hid it?"
Seeing that the two were about to start arguing again, Harry grew impatient and shouted, "Ugh, Lucius, today we're not talking about dark magic items, we're only talking about my adopted sister's book!"
"One is one, and three is three! If my sworn sister really did commit theft, I will not let her off lightly."
"If you have wronged her and cleared her name, do you dare to kowtow three times and kneel nine times to apologize?"
It should be known that the Malfoys are one of the Twenty-Eight Holy Clans, and who in the magical world does not know them? Such a noble family has illustrious ancestors and values their reputation more than their own life.
That book-stealing scheme was a baseless, sordid affair, a filthy stain on his reputation. How could Draco possibly admit to it, lest he tarnish his ancestors' honor?
Seeing Harry's aggressive approach, he hesitated to speak, but inwardly felt a growing urge to back down. Before he could utter a word, Lucius said, "Oh? How are you going to prove it?"
Harry asked in surprise, "Since you're the one questioning me, how can I prove it?"
"Your Malfoy family has its vast fortunes, and my Potter's vaults are overflowing with gold and jade! If you can't produce evidence of your crimes this time, I'll teach you how to write a false accusation of theft!"
"Even if you take it to the English Ministry of Magic! Even if you take it to the Magical Congress of America! I won't back down an inch!"
Harry's words were loud and clear, earning applause from all the wizards and surprising Lockhart.
Is Harry Potter that rich?
They don't even put the Malfoy family, one of the Twenty-Eight Holy Clans, in their eyes...
Lucius hesitated when he saw that he was going to gamble with Potter's vault.
The reason, it turns out, is that the Malfoy family was one of the distributors of the Potter family's hair growth serum. Since James and his wife passed away, they hadn't paid any money for their wedding gift for over a decade, pocketing it all.
He was afraid that Harry would realize the truth and bring up old grievances, so he forced himself to swallow his anger.
"I'm not in the mood to play children's games with you, Mr. Potter."
Immediately, he reached for Ginny's book basket, wanting to take the three books to look at. He had just picked them up when he saw Harry's eyes fixed on them, so he put them down again and said:
"Tsk! Keep your book safe, little girl, but don't miscalculate next time."
He tried to slip away, but Harry wouldn't let him, drawing his sword and blocking his way: "If you're unwilling to gamble, why don't you apologize to my sworn sister?"
Ron retorted angrily, "That's right! Apologize to my sister!"
Hermione chimed in, "Mr. Malfoy, you should apologize to Ginny."
These were nothing but young children, yet they dared to offer such advice. Lucius's brow furrowed with anger; feeling humiliated, he roared, "You dare order me around?"
Harry shouted, "If you're unwilling, I won't force you. Leave your head as an apology!"
Lucius, enraged, drew his wand and roared, "Mr. Potter! I won't go easy on you just because you're a minor!"
Seeing this, Arthur also drew his wand and called out, "Don't forget I'm still here, Lucius."
These men, poised to strike, did not actually make a move. Draco, huddled behind Lucius's robe, poked half his head out and chattered incessantly.
"Potter, watch out! My dad isn't some kind of wizard you see on the street."
Seeing this fellow putting on airs again, Harry roared, "You scoundrel, if I ever see you at Hogwarts, I'll kill you!"
Draco's face turned pale, and he immediately fell silent.
Ron, his anger rising, retorted, "That's right! Draco! Don't let me see you at school, or I'll beat you up every time I see you!"
Hermione, having spent a month with Ginny and grown quite close, retorted angrily, "That's right, and so am I. Just you wait!"
Draco was about to mock the two men, but when he saw them take off their robes and roll up their sleeves, revealing two muscular arms, he was momentarily stunned.
What's going on with these two guys?
How did you get so big?!
Seeing Draco's fear, Lucius, barely containing his anger, said, "You're such a coward? You can't even beat a mud—a Muggle wizard?"
Draco often talked about school, and Lucius had heard a lot about it, only knowing that Hermione was a Mudblood.
If one were to fight Harry, the savior, or Ron, the pure-blood wizard, even if one lost, one could at least save face; it would be a shameful defeat.
If they fall into the hands of the Mudbloods, the Malfoys' century-old dough will be chopped up and fed to the dogs!
Draco was too timid to speak up, and even in his second year, he didn't learn any powerful spells. He mostly relied on fists and feet in ordinary fights.
Ron and Hermione had both developed impressive physiques, but Draco dared not respond.
Seeing that he remained silent for a long time, Lucius took a breath and said, "Apologize."
"What?"
"I said, apologize. Since you misunderstood Miss Ginny, then apologize to her." Lucius leaned down and whispered in her ear, "If you think you can defeat all three of them at Hogwarts, you can choose not to apologize."
"Draco, even if he is the so-called savior, as long as you dare to challenge him, I guarantee you will be safe and sound."
Lucius gritted his teeth and whispered, a glimmer of hope appearing in his eyes. After a long while, Draco finally whispered, "I'm... I'm sorry..."
Lucius's face twitched. "Let's go!"
"Hey! You little rascal, how come you're not as sensible as me? I haven't heard either of them apologize yet."
"Oh? So I have to kowtow three times and kneel nine times?" Lucius sneered. "Just like you said."
Arthur, having seen Lucius's predicament, felt relieved and advised, "Alright, Harry, let him go. This guy's gone mad and he'll be hard to deal with."
Seeing Arthur come to persuade him, Harry finally nodded, "Since the director says so, how can I not agree?"
Once Lucius and his son had disappeared from sight, Lockhart quickly dispersed the surrounding wizards, and Ginny, with tears in her eyes, came to thank Harry.
"Harry, thank you..."
Harry laughed and said, "Sister, there's no need to say more. If this happens again, just tell me."
Ginny burst into tears, her ears burning, and nodded repeatedly, prompting Hermione to click her tongue in delight.
"By the way, Ginny," Ron frowned, "why is the Malfoys targeting you?"
"I...I don't know..."
Ginny shook her head in bewilderment, but Harry said, "These guys have come here out of nowhere to cause trouble; they must have some despicable schemes up their sleeves."
"I've been watching for a long time, but I still can't figure it out."
The flower blooms at two ends, each telling its own story.
As Lucius and his son left Flourish and Blotts and headed toward Diagon Alley, they suddenly pulled out a black diary.
"Draco, don't disappoint me like you did today."
"Find a way to bring the diary into school, but don't let him be on you, then give it to that silly little Weasley girl."
Draco, still resentful of Harry and the others, took the diary and flipped through it again. "Tom Riddle? Who's that?"
"Keep it safe! Don't you dare open it!"
Lucius flew into a rage, scaring Draco half to death.
"I should have told you, this is a very dangerous thing."
"Take it to school and give it to the Weasleys! That's the biggest contribution you can make to the Malfoys!"
