Chapter 30 Pointed Hats on Teeth
Chapter 30 Pointed Hats on Teeth
To be honest, Xilun was a little confused and stood there stunned for a second before he came to his senses.
His original plan was to open the door first to divert the hatred, and then take advantage of the chaos to find an opportunity to escape.
After all, Cerberus and the giant are both huge creatures, and I'm just a tiny little thing, so there's a high chance I'll be overlooked.
He just didn't expect the troll to be so cooperative, and it just charged in.
It seems there's no need to take advantage of the chaos now.
Hearing deafening roars and howls coming from behind the door, and the chaotic footsteps downstairs, Xilun grabbed the Bowtruckle that had crawled out of the lock and ran away.
A moment later, someone arrived.
Snape was the first to rush over, running all the way to the locked door, followed closely by Professor McGonagall, with Quirrell bringing up the rear.
The door was pulled open forcefully, and the next second, a mixture of blood and stench assaulted the senses.
Especially when he saw the scene behind the door, even Snape, who had dealt with large amounts of rat spleens and leech juice for many years, turned pale and his stomach churned.
Quirrell glanced at it, then immediately vomited all over the floor, vomiting uncontrollably.
Professor McGonagall was alright; she had witnessed far more horrific scenes before, so compared to that, what she saw before her was nothing. Although her hands were trembling a little, she quickly calmed down.
Professor McGonagall pursed her lips, raised her wand, and a dozen thick iron chains tightly bound the three-headed dog, suspending it.
"Severus!" Professor McGonagall shouted.
Snape nodded and pulled out half of the giant monster.
"Ugh..." Quirrell vomited even more dramatically, his face covered in tears and snot.
Professor McGonagall's face showed undisguised disdain. They were all professors; if they weren't going to help, fine, but why were they making things worse?
She wanted to say something, but just then, a reassuring figure appeared at the end of the corridor.
"Dumbledore," Professor McGonagall said quickly, "Here..."
"Yes, Minerva, I saw it all," Dumbledore said calmly, glancing to the other side. "Potter, Weasley, and Granger, could you please take Professor Quirrell to the school hospital?"
"Okay, okay, sir."
Harry, Hermione, and Ron emerged from the corner, heads hanging low.
They thought they were well hidden, but they didn't expect to be discovered so quickly.
Halfway there, Harry couldn't resist his curiosity and secretly peeked down the corridor.
But he didn't see anything.
The middle of the corridor was obscured by a cloud of white smoke, and he couldn't see anything except Professor McGonagall's angry voice.
"Instead of returning to the dormitory, you knowingly wander around the castle in danger. What kind of tricks are you playing... Gryffindor loses five points, five points each!"
Faced with the furious Professor McGonagall, Harry couldn't help but shrink back, while Ron and Hermione didn't even dare to say a word.
Looking at the quiet Dumbledore, Harry felt he needed to explain, "Headmaster... we're not playing any tricks, we're here to see Shiron."
"Mr. Ollivander?" Dumbledore's expression remained unchanged. "In that case, Gryffindor will have to lose another five points."
"No, no, that's not it," Harry quickly explained. "He said he came back to find something, so he couldn't attend the banquet right away and didn't know about the trolls. We wanted to remind him."
"I see." Dumbledore nodded. "Then why didn't you tell the professors? If I remember correctly, Professors Flitwick and Sprout have always been with the students."
"We... forgot, forgot." Harry's voice lacked confidence.
"Can you help me get Professor Quirrell to the school hospital now? He looks like he's about to faint from vomiting."
This time Harry didn't say anything. He and Ron ran over and dragged Quirrell away.
The actions were a bit rough, but no one pointed it out to them, and Dumbledore simply pretended not to notice.
How could three first-year students possibly move an adult wizard? Dragging him is perfectly reasonable.
After the three men and Quirrell disappeared, Dumbledore walked over and carefully examined the scene.
Five minutes later, Hagrid arrived.
"Oh, Luwei..." Hagrid clutched his chest, tears streaming down his face, as he looked at the three-headed dog, chained up and bleeding from its mouth.
"Don't do that, Minerva, it's still a child..."
"Do you know that the 'child' you're talking about just killed a troll?" Professor McGonagall said expressionlessly, then pointed to the troll's corpse on the ground.
That was a giant monster, and it was being eaten like a fried pork chop. Is that appropriate?
Hagrid let out a strange cry, which sounded like a wild duck being choked.
"That's terrifying," Snape said coldly from the side. "From the time we heard the noise to when we arrived, it was at most two minutes, and it managed to tear an adult giant in half in such a short time."
"Dumbledore, this monster cannot remain in the school."
"No, no..." Hagrid stammered, "Fluwell is usually very, very obedient. It must have been the troll that angered it."
"So you mean, a troll whose brain isn't even the size of a walnut would provoke Cerberus?" Snape asked, drawing out his words.
Hagrid panicked even more and stammered, unable to speak.
He looked at Dumbledore, his eyes full of pleading.
"I believe Hagrid."
"Dumbledore..."
"Don't rush, Severus," said Dumbledore, pointing to the leftmost head of the three-headed dog. "Look here."
Snape glanced over instinctively, then frowned slightly.
That mouth was injured, the inside was a bloody mess, and two teeth were missing.
"This is... from being hit by a giant?" His voice was full of doubt.
Are you kidding me? This is Cerberus, a three-headed dog that can even eat a non-flying fire dragon on the ground. Just how powerful must this giant be to beat it like that? It must be a giant.
"Judging from the current situation, it seems that this is the only explanation." Dumbledore straightened up.
"The troll accidentally stumbled into Hogwarts, then inadvertently arrived on the fourth floor, opened the door, and injured the three-headed dog with a wooden club. Finally, he was torn in two by the enraged three-headed dog."
Dumbledore spoke calmly, but the people around him did not.
This process... just listening to it from the sidelines makes it seem absurd, utterly ridiculous.
"But this raises a new question," Dumbledore continued. "How did it get in? I noticed the door was intact, without any signs of forced entry. Did the troll open it with a key?"
"Perhaps we can ask the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor," Snape suddenly said. "He was the first to discover the troll in the underground classroom."
"Quilinas is still in the school hospital, Severus," Dumbledore said. "He's terrified."
"Heh heh..." Snape sneered. "If needed, I can brew him a calming potion."
