Chapter 66 Fire Dragon King's Dragon Soul; The Transaction
Upon hearing this, all the surrounding immortal herbs were filled with awe. The Child of Nature was truly extraordinary; even they, as plant-type soul beasts, had no secrets before him!
Ye Chenxing took in the reactions of all the immortal herbs and nodded in satisfaction.
These immortal herbs, despite possessing a cultivation of 100,000 years, have minds like children, believing whatever they are told.
As for this reason... it was naturally something he made up on the spur of the moment.
But it doesn't matter. As the only known and clearly documented Child of Nature in this world, he has the right to interpret all the abilities that come with this identity. Whatever he says is what he is.
Having said that, Ye Chenxing ignored the admiring gazes of the immortal herbs and walked straight towards the clearly defined ice and fire two-colored lake.
With the Angelic Martial Soul silently possessing him, he stood beside the Yangquan Spring, which was constantly emitting astonishing heat waves. Looking down at the crimson, lava-like spring water, even though he was prepared, he couldn't help but feel a little apprehensive.
This feels like I'm about to stick my hand into a hot pot.
However, the surrounding medicinal herbs were even more nervous than he was.
My dear Child of Nature, you must not get into any trouble!
Under the watchful, anxious gaze of the surrounding grass, Ye Chenxing tentatively extended her fingertip and gently touched the spring water of Yangquan.
...
Nothing happened.
Protected by the extreme fire, the spring water in Yangquan did not feel too hot to him; it was no different from ordinary spring water.
"Phew—" All the plants and flowers in the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Well breathed a sigh of relief.
Immediately afterwards, Ye Chenxing moved to the edge of the Yin Spring that was emitting a chilling aura and tried to probe it in the same way.
This time, however, the situation was completely different. Although the ultimate fire still protected him from the erosion of the ice spring, the extremely yin and cold power was not completely neutralized by the flames. Instead, it seemed to have encountered a nemesis, frantically fighting against and neutralizing his ultimate fire. In just a moment of contact, he could clearly feel his soul power being rapidly consumed.
He withdrew his hand, nodded thoughtfully, took a few steps back, and then suddenly leaped into the scalding Yangquan spring amidst the gasps of the immortal herbs.
"Is he... is he really alright...?" The petals of the fragrant Qiluo Fairy Flower opened and closed nervously, murmuring to itself.
Liehuo Xingjiao hesitated for a moment: "He, like me, possesses the ultimate fire. As long as we don't go too far... it should... be fine, right?"
"No, please!" Yu Xiang Qi Luo Xian Pin's voice was trembling with tears. "It's not just that the Child of Nature can't be harmed, but also... I'm afraid..."
As she spoke, her pink petals swayed subtly to the side, indicating that direction.
Following her gaze, Liehuo Xingjiao looked and saw the Demon King sitting cross-legged by the lake, his eyes slightly closed, seemingly resting.
But she knew in her heart that if anything happened to that Child of Nature, this ferocious beast would not simply sit there with its eyes closed; then...
I don't even want to think about it!
My beloved child of nature! Please be safe and sound!
......
When Ye Chenxing first entered Yangquan, he didn't have any special feelings. The surroundings were a warm crimson, and the visibility wasn't very high, but it wasn't pitch black either. It was somewhat like the swimming pool in his previous life, except that the pool water had been changed to red.
Without pausing, he stretched his limbs and began to quickly dive into the depths of the spring.
As the depth increased, the surrounding crimson spring water gradually deepened in color, turning into a deep dark red. The water pressure continued to increase, and the previously imperceptible temperature began to slowly rise.
After an unknown amount of time, Ye Chenxing
At first, it felt a little warm, but if it could make someone with extreme fire feel "hot", then the actual temperature outside must have soared to an unimaginably terrifying level.
This place is so deep?
Although the Angelic Martial Soul wasn't adept at underwater combat, its diving speed was anything but slow. A rough estimate suggested at least ten minutes had passed, yet all that remained before it was a desolate, crimson expanse.
Going deeper in, the temperature would probably become unbearable.
He hovered in place, no longer descending, silently gazing at the bottomless red abyss below.
That's enough for now.
Ye Chenxing had countless ways to summon the remnants of the two dragon kings. However, he knew in his heart that they were true first-level deities in life, and even though they had fallen ten thousand years ago, he still hoped to use a gentler method.
After all, he wasn't there to cause trouble.
He took out the piece of living gold that the Silver Dragon King had personally given him.
After the fierce battle in the God Realm, the Silver Dragon King was seriously injured and fell to Douluo Star. During her slumber underground in the Star Dou Great Forest, she drew life force from this piece of living gold to heal her wounds.
To this day, this piece of living gold is not only filled with immense life force, but also with the aura of the Silver Dragon King.
It's been marinated thoroughly.
With a thought, Ye Chenxing enveloped the wisp of Silver Dragon King aura emanating from the Life Gold with his spiritual power, like an invisible thread probing straight towards the deepest part of Yangquan.
As the aura carrying the oppressive power of a superior dragon descended, the Yangquan spring, which had been churning intermittently, suddenly fell silent.
Immediately afterwards—
"Boom—!!!"
The entire Yangquan trembled violently at that moment, as if a volcano had awakened.
The dark red spring water around them surged wildly, accompanied by a low, resonant dragon's roar that echoed from the depths, and the surrounding water pressure suddenly increased.
Under Ye Chenxing's gaze, the endless flames below began to converge wildly, and the dark red spring water was forcibly pushed aside by an invisible force. A phantom of a giant dragon, completely formed from fire elements and so large that its end could not be seen, slowly took shape in the scorching spring water!
The remnant soul of the Fire Dragon King!
Faced with the remains of this legendary first-level deity, Ye Chenxing frowned slightly.
After the remnant soul of the Fire Dragon King appeared, it neither spoke nor attacked Ye Chenxing, the intruder.
Its enormous dragon eyes were filled with chaos, its gaze fixed on the piece of Life Gold in Ye Chenxing's hand. Its massive head instinctively leaned forward, simply drawn by the aura of the Silver Dragon King and the immense life force emanating from the Life Gold.
There was absolutely no way to communicate.
Ye Chenxing looked at the enormous creature that was driven only by instinct and shook his head helplessly.
"As expected... after millions of years of erosion, only a wisp of a mindless remnant soul remains?"
However, upon closer examination, it does make sense. If the remnant souls of the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings still retained their complete consciousness from their previous lives, how could those few plants with a mere 100,000 years of cultivation possibly borrow their power?
"In that case, let me help you to make it look more respectable."
Ye Chenxing slowly closed her eyes.
The next moment, his Hall of Heroes martial spirit shone brightly.
Using the remnant soul of the Fire Dragon King, which shared the same origin as him, as a special catalyst, he called out to this remnant soul.
Even with his current abilities, he cannot summon the heroic spirit here before absorbing the soul ring, but he can still barely communicate with it and awaken its remaining consciousness.
The enormous fiery dragon's body trembled violently, and the previously raging and chaotic flames around it gradually subsided.
Immediately afterwards, the turbidity in those empty dragon eyes receded inch by inch, and a clear light shone again in those dragon pupils.
The Fire Dragon King's gaze finally found its focus.
It slowly lowered its head and looked at Ye Chenxing. The next moment, Ye Chenxing felt the surrounding space distort. The surging crimson spring water was blocked by an invisible force, and an independent space was opened up in the depths of this Yangquan.
Ye Chenxing felt the pressure and high temperature around him suddenly disappear and released the protection of the extreme fire.
"Senior Fire Dragon King, how did you feel returning from over there? Although... it was only temporary."
The Fire Dragon King's enormous body, formed from flames, remained motionless, and the entire space fell into a long silence, with a complex expression flashing in its dragon eyes.
After a long while, it finally spoke.
"Have the dragons... still lost?"
"Humans".
The Fire Dragon King suppressed his emotions and asked.
"How did you awaken me? And why do you possess items that bear the aura of the Lord's upper body?"
Ye Chenxing put away the gold of life.
"This item was given to me by His Excellency the Silver Dragon King, who is half of the Dragon God."
"As for my identity, I am the current patriarch of the Black Dragon Clan and an ally of the Beast God Di Tian. As for how I brought you back to your senses, that is not the key point. Since I went to such lengths to awaken you, I naturally did so with sincerity, hoping to make a deal with you."
"Di Tian? It's still alive?!"
Upon hearing this name, the enormous phantom of the Fire Dragon King trembled violently, causing the surrounding fire elements that isolated the space to surge violently.
"The Lord's half is still here... and Di Tian is still here too..." the Fire Dragon King murmured to himself. "It seems the dragon race hasn't completely given up hope; the dragon race... can still be saved!"
After a moment of excitement, the Fire Dragon King looked at Ye Chenxing again, his eyes now showing a hint of goodwill.
"Human, thank you for bringing me this good news. Tell me, what do you wish to trade with me?"
At this point, the Fire Dragon King's voice dimmed again.
"However, you'd better not have too high expectations. I can clearly feel that this wisp of consciousness will soon dissipate again. Now, I'm afraid there's nothing of value left to trade with you."
"Senior Fire Dragon King," Ye Chenxing asked unhurriedly, "before discussing the deal, do you know where you are right now?"
The Fire Dragon King paused slightly, glanced around at the dark red spring water, and pondered, "This must be an environment created by the residual energy after my fall, evolving in this subordinate plane?"
"That's right, but not entirely." Ye Chenxing nodded. "In that great battle back then, not only you, but also the Water Dragon King perished here with you. Your two remains are buried deep here. The extreme ice and fire intertwined, mutually generating and restraining each other. Over millions of years, they finally formed a top-level treasure trove that rivals the creation of heaven and earth in this plane—the Ice and Fire Yin-Yang Eye."
"Is that so... Even the Water Dragon King..."
The Fire Dragon King fell silent.
Although it knew from the moment the Dragon God was defeated that the Dragon Clan had lost and that the gods would not let them go, a wave of sadness still welled up in its heart when it confirmed the death of the Water Dragon King from Ye Chenxing.
"Senior." Ye Chenxing's voice rang out at the right time.
"The deal I want is this Yin-Yang Well of Ice and Fire that you two created together."
"In return, I will allow you and the Water Dragon King to... be completely resurrected."
boom--!
The voice just fell.
In an instant, the entire Yangquan spring began to boil violently! The crimson spring water surged upwards like an erupting volcano, with countless bubbles emitting a deafening roar.
On the lake, the anxiously waiting immortal herbs all changed color, feeling the ground beneath their feet tremble and the air temperature soar in an instant.
"What's going on?! Why did Yangquan suddenly go berserk?!"
"What on earth did the Child of Nature do at the bottom of the spring?!"
----------
Below Yangquan.
The Fire Dragon King stared intently at Ye Chenxing.
"Human, do you know what you're saying?!" Its voice was filled with anger and trembling.
"I am already a remnant soul. Not even your lord could possibly revive me, let alone you! How dare you, a mere human, make such a boast!"
Faced with the Fire Dragon King's doubts and pressure, Ye Chenxing did not back down.
"Just because the Dragon God can't do something doesn't mean I can't."
Ye Chenxing stretched out a hand and pointed at the Fire Dragon King.
"If I can't do that, then how are you talking to me now?"
The Fire Dragon King suddenly froze.
"You should be able to sense that my cultivation level is insignificant, not to mention in the God Realm, even in the lower planes. But I can still make your consciousness return briefly."
"As long as I continue to grow stronger, I will be able to recall all nine Dragon Kings of the entire Dragon Clan."
------------
This fanfiction's Dragon God setting follows the version from Douluo Continent III, meaning the Dragon God's strength is greater than that of the God Kings, but he cannot fight five at once and is defeated by the combined power of the five God Kings. The Asura God then splits him in two.
Why not use the later versions?
The direct reason is that I genuinely couldn't finish watching Douluo Continent IV and the content afterward.
The version in Douluo Continent IV differs too much from the previous ones. If it was truly arranged by the Dragon God himself, then the entire Douluo Continent III, especially Gu Yuena's struggle between her love for the protagonist and her clan's quest for revenge against the divine realm, becomes like a clown. Moreover, Gu Yuena's motives are untenable. Even if her memories are incomplete, it only explains that she knows the Dragon God was split in two, which doesn't explain the events she mentioned earlier regarding the beginning of the conflict between the beast gods and human gods.
Clearly, the general direction of previous versions of Divine Legend was that human gods suppressed beast gods, the beast gods' resistance failed, and beasts were not allowed to become gods.
While the Dragon God's prestige was elevated in Douluo Continent IV, his behavior represents the pinnacle of abstraction in the series. I only learned about his story to write this novel, and after reading it, I felt like all the wrinkles in my brain had been smoothed out. The funniest thing is that his consciousness still exists, but he completely ignores the current situation and is constantly in a daze. The protagonist's abilities don't follow the Dragon God's path. I really don't know how to arrange his content in the Douluo Continent IV version.
