Chapter 13 Torture
Lorraine slammed his fist against the wall, venting his anger. However, he quickly suppressed his rage, guessing that the exploration team that hadn't returned had probably died downstairs.
"It's alright. After we gather the information, we'll throw them all down to feed the zombies. If it's confirmed that the exploration team that went to the office building was cornered downstairs and fed zombies by them," Lorraine narrowed his eyes, "then let them feed the zombies too. Anyone who can betray their own teammates is definitely not someone to be trifled with. We don't want them to do anything to sabotage us later."
Ouyang Nian nodded, still clenching his fists.
Lorraine sighed: "Let's tie up those two lying on the ground first. Use some force, so they don't cause any trouble later."
Watching Ouyang Nian roughly twist the hands of the two people lying on the ground behind their backs and tie them up, then tie their ankles, and finally tie their hands and feet, he made them kneel facing the room in the corridor to "reflect on their mistakes."

Lorraine narrowed her eyes, sensing that this guy was hiding something. But with so many people, someone was bound to say something different.
"Second question, what's the situation with the convoy in the central region?" Lorraine said, bringing the red-hot iron rod even closer to the man.
"Remember to tell the truth, or you'll get a hot iron for lying," Lorraine said with a hint of intimidation.
"I really don't know that! I only know that the convoy was quite long, and it was said to be escorted by the military. There were two rather large trailers in it, but I don't know anything else."
"One last question." Lorraine's expression suddenly changed, and he asked in a sinister tone, "Was the team that went to explore the office building locked up downstairs?"

Looking at the information on the system, Lorraine took out his data tablet and began planning his route on the map.

If the trucks are in good condition on their return trip, they can pass through the eastern storage area. The steel material area marked on the map is located on the outermost edge, so it won't significantly lengthen the return journey.
As Lorraine was contemplating the dangers of the route, he was startled awake by three gunshots. He then saw Ouyang Nian emerge from the room where the three women were being held. Just as he opened his mouth to ask something, Ouyang Nian shook his head.
Lorraine noticed Ouyang Nian's low spirits and then began to explain the upcoming route plan. When the dangers of the route were mentioned, Ouyang Nian raised objections:
"Look, the horde of corpses below is in such a state of turmoil. They only let out a couple of howls and didn't move much. I guess the blood moon is coming soon. In this situation, as long as you don't go into the horde of corpses, you won't disturb them."
Lorraine turned to look at the people who were tied up: "What should we do with these people? Throwing them down to feed the zombies will only make things more difficult for us."
Ouyang Nian said, "That's easy. Just chain them together and hang them on a ladder. If they wake up and struggle frantically, they'll fall; if they don't struggle, they'll starve to death."
Lorraine shrugged: "Let's get started then. The sooner we finish, the sooner we can head to the central region."
The two men quickly chained the people together and hung them on the ladder, then headed towards the central area without looking back.
Following the map, the two quickly entered the central area. Looking at the makeshift bunkers stained with black blood and the scattered bullet craters, one could deduce the horrific scene of the escort team's resolute resistance against the horde of zombies.
Just to be safe, the two moved quickly between layers of cover, soon approaching the warehouse where the convoy was parked. Along the way, they discovered several damaged guns with bayonets attached and stained with black blood.
Looking at the dimly lit warehouse, Ouyang Nian picked up a spent cartridge from the ground and threw it inside. The cartridge landed with a series of crisp sounds, and it seemed that there were no longer any people or zombies in the warehouse.
The two put on night vision goggles, climbed over the cover blocking the warehouse entrance, and observed the environment inside the warehouse through the green light of the goggles.
Surprisingly, only a small amount of dried blood was found on the warehouse floor, and the spent shell casings were concentrated near the bunker at the entrance and the armed pickup truck.
The two were somewhat confused about the situation, so they inspected the entire warehouse.
The warehouse contained only vehicles, firearms, and ammunition boxes. Behind a pile of ammunition boxes, the two men discovered a soldier whose body was decomposing.
Beside him lay a notebook containing his desperate confessions and descriptions of the cargo being transported by his convoy.
