As a legendary guardian, wielding the most powerful magical force in Azeroth, you should at least step in and help us throw a few fireballs, summon some fire elementals, or set up some powerful magical traps for yourself.
“I can sense that you possess very powerful magic within you. Can you help us defend against the Burning Legion?” Jaina asked.
According to the records in the Dalaran annals, the Guardians possess the most terrifying magical power in all of Azeroth; they are humanoid magical weapons.
The power of any spell they cast far exceeded the imagination of ordinary mages; powerful demons were torn apart like ants before their terrifying magic.
The benefits to the allied forces if a guardian joins the battle are self-evident.
“Gina is right, Guardian. If you truly want to save Azeroth, you should come and fight for us, instead of gathering us together and then doing nothing,” Rhodes said.
Medivh is a top-tier fighter; we absolutely have to get him to work for us. Don't even think about slacking off or lying around.
"I...I am powerless. I am merely a figure of the past. I cannot participate in this war; it belongs to the future, to you," Medivh sighed.
“You say you’re from the past? Please, if you’re talking about age, you’re nowhere near as old as these two. They’re both over 1 years old,” Rhodes said, glancing at Malfurion and Tyrande.
"Is there something you're having trouble telling me? Prophet, I sense that your magical power is extremely strong."
This war concerns the life and death of all of Azeroth. I can understand that they are too far away to come.
"But you're right in front of us, and you've been working so hard to make this alliance happen. Why aren't you willing to contribute even a little bit?" Malfurion asked, looking puzzled.
Even Thrall, whom Medivh brought along, was a little puzzled. Unlike other orcs, Thrall was raised by humans from a young age, so he was very shrewd.
He had initially thought the prophet was not very capable in combat, but according to these people, the prophet was quite strong. If that was the case, why was he unwilling to join the battle?
“Great Prophet, we came to Kalimdor following your guidance. We are willing to believe in you and fight alongside you,” Thrall said tactfully.
The expression seemed to say, "If you don't agree, this battle won't be easy, Prophet."
“I really want to join this battle, but I really can’t. I can only maintain a state of apparent life now. I am already dead. Although I have powerful magic, I cannot cast any offensive magic, not even a little bit.” Medivh finally revealed the truth with helplessness.
Upon discovering that Azeroth was about to be invaded by the Burning Legion's demons, he attempted to fight back, and immediately after his resurrection, he wanted to use his Guardian powers to teach those demons a lesson.
Back then, he was able to travel freely between Draenor and Azeroth with his powerful magic, and he could even open the Dark Portal by himself in cooperation with Gul'dan.
It's worth noting that Gul'dan on the other side used the lives of hundreds of thousands of draenei, along with countless warlocks from the orcish races, to successfully open the Dark Portal. Medivh accomplished all of this single-handedly, which gives you an idea of how powerful the Guardian's magic is.
Even at their first meeting, Gul'dan was as powerless as an infant in front of Medivh. Medivh displayed terrifying magic that almost drove the old orc to despair, which is the real reason why the old orc went to search for the Tomb of Sargeras.
After being resurrected, Medivh discovered that he had no way to connect to the magic network of Azeroth. Although he possessed powerful magic, he had nowhere to use it.
He did possess very powerful magic, but it was only enough to allow him to survive in this world temporarily.
There are some things I can't do. His mother has already done her best to bring him back to life. Medivh reluctantly told everyone this fact.
“I see. I misunderstood you. Since that’s the case, Prophet, then let us handle this war. In the name of Cenarius, we will surely defeat the Burning Legion,” said Archdruid Malfurion.
"In the name of Elune."
"For the Holy Light."
"For the tribe!" Everyone shouted the slogan in unison. They were confident that they could fight this war on their own.
"Guardian, you just said that you have great magical power, but you can't connect to the magic network of Azeroth, so you can't cast powerful spells, right?" Rhodes stroked his chin and asked.
“Yes, children, I really want to help you. I’ve gone to great lengths to bring you all together for this moment, but I’m truly powerless to do anything about it,” Medivh said, nodding.
This kid is very shrewd; perhaps he will be able to represent humanity in the future and fight against this orc in front of him.
During his time with Thrall, the orc chieftain, Medivh discovered that although Thrall respected him greatly, he was exceptionally intelligent and capable, with a shrewdness that belied his youth and even his orcish nature.
Among human leaders, there were basically no younger generation who could surpass him; that was my previous opinion. But this young man named Rhodes might be able to change all that.
Perhaps the future belongs to these two young people.
“Lord Medivh, please take a look at this magic scroll. Are you able to use the magic on it?” Rhodes said, handing Medivh a lightning spell.
The magic in Heroes of Might and Magic doesn't need to be linked to the magic network of the world of Azeroth. As long as you learn it, you can cast it. There are no thresholds or restrictions at all. The only thing it consumes is your own mana.
Since Medivh possesses magical power, theoretically he can also cast spells using this magic scroll.
“Lord Medivh, this is a magic scroll given to Rhodes by the Titan Guardians. It contains the magic of the Titans. As long as you have this magic scroll, you can use the magic on it. You can give it a try,” Jaina said from the side.
Perhaps Rhodes' magic scrolls can change this problem; Rhodes is proficient in all kinds of magic.
Aside from the Titan Guardians' Legion-level super-powerful magic, Rhodes doesn't seem to need to link to the magic network of Azeroth when using other mage skills, or even paladin skills.
Jaina could understand that paladins' skills didn't need to be connected to the magic network of Azeroth, but the fact that spells from the world of Azeroth could also be cast without a connection was something that greatly surprised her.
“I know you, Rhodes. The Titan guardian behind you is indeed unfathomably powerful,” Medivh said meaningfully.
Others may not know about the Titan Guardians, but Medivh does. The Titan Guardians' combat strength is actually not that great, and they are even weaker than him.
The Titan Guardians are only at the demigod level in terms of combat power. The most powerful are the chief guardian Odin and the legendary Tyr, but neither of them can defeat a guardian in a one-on-one fight.
As for Medivh, the Titan Guardian behind Rhodes, he is only known by name, but never seen in person.
Medivh repeatedly hid in Rhodes's vicinity, trying to find out information about this Guardian and who he really was.
But he had absolutely no clue about the Titans that Rhode summoned or the Titan magic he used; he found no problems whatsoever.
They can't even see through it at all, especially those who resist magic.
It's worth noting that in Karazhan, there are Iron Maidens, who are actually Titan magical creations.
He had also been very envious of this magic scroll, which summoned fire elementals before. If he could still cast spells back then, he would definitely have gotten his hands on this magic scroll to study it.
Medivh reached out and took Rhodes's magic scroll, then suddenly found a spell appearing in his mind called Thunderbolt.
This spell can summon terrifying lightning power to attack opponents, and it does not require any connection to the magic network of the world of Azeroth.
When he unleashed this magic with the strength of a guardian, it was incredibly terrifying. Medivh could sense that the power of this magic was related to his own mana. Although there was a certain threshold, the magic was generally more powerful when used by a strong person, and it was not even on the same level when used by a weak person.
Medivh was somewhat surprised. He infused the magic scroll with his own magic power and then used the spell.
Suddenly, a dark cloud appeared in the sky, followed by a massive bolt of lightning, several people thick, that struck down and destroyed a small mountain.
This power startled Rhodes. Was he kidding? The power of his lightning strike was probably less than 1/10 of Medivh's!
Chapter 140 Mount Hyjal Defense Line: Titans and Skeleton Army
"You really do have a knack for surprising people, Rhodes, may I call you that?" Medivh said with a look of admiration as he held the Thunderbolt Magic Scroll in his hand.
I never imagined that I would actually be able to cast spells again without relying on the magical network of Azeroth.
“Of course, no problem, Lord Medivh, and the next line of defense might require your help to summon some fire elementals,” Rhodes said with a smile.
With his intermediate fire magic and 10 points of strength, Rhode can now summon three times the number of fire elementals.
Rhodes can summon 30 fire elementals, and even when summoning holy light elementals, he can summon 10 himself.
Medivh, on the other hand, summoned far more fire elementals than himself, at least 10 times more, enough to form an army.
“I know, that mysterious elemental summoning scroll. This magic is completely different from the magic system of Azeroth. It doesn’t summon fire elementals from the elemental realm, but directly transforms itself into fire elementals using its own mana,” Medivh said.
With fire elemental summons and lightning bolts, he can play a significant role in this battle. Just by unleashing lightning bolts, he can make the Burning Legion's demons suffer excruciating pain.
"Now let's discuss the defense line. We need to hold out on Mount Hyjal for 24 hours to buy me enough strength," Malfurion said, looking at the group.
"It's a trap set for Archimonde, so you can't let him see that you have to fight very hard, but you must also retreat when necessary."
“Then let’s build three lines of defense: one for humans, one for orcs, and one for night elves. Each line will hold for eight hours, which will be exactly 24 hours,” Medivh said.
“We orcs can set up defenses in the middle of Mount Hyjal to block the invading enemy. The orcs will hold out on the front line for at least 8 hours.” Thrall took the lead in setting up defenses in the middle.
The most brutal parts of this war were the first and last lines of defense. The last line of defense was left to the night elves, while the first line of defense was left to the humans!
If the orcs want to survive on the continent of Kalimdor, then the human forces cannot be too strong. It would be best to use this war to weaken the power of the human race, or rather, the power of the entire Alliance.
For the survival of the entire tribe, he had to do something. The orcs were struggling in Kalimdor, and he had to find more allies and better land.
If it were another orc chieftain, he would likely demand the first line of defense, as this is an orc tradition, and even the wolf riders accompanying him.
Some were surprised that the Great Chieftain hadn't chosen the first line of defense. That would have been more in line with the Orcs' fierce fighting style.
“I thought you would choose the first line of defense! But it doesn’t matter, we humans will choose the first line of defense!” Rhodes saw through Sal’s plan at a glance and said with a smile.
Sorry, the world might be a little different from what you think. In this epic battle, the only human participants were Jaina, Uther, a high elf mage, and, oh right, Medivh the Guardian, since he was also human.
“Then we night elves will defend the last line of defense, and we will also help you defend along the way and provide support,” Tyrande said.
Holding the last line of defense is undoubtedly the most important thing; the longer the allies in front can hold out, the more likely their plans are to succeed.
“Our orcish race can deploy 1 troops, plus several thousand tauren and trolls. We can immediately head to Mount Hyjal to set up defenses,” Thrall said.
"We, the Night Elves, will deploy at least 2 Sentinels, along with 6000 Druids, including Raptor Druids and Claw Druids."
In addition, our allied races, including large numbers of forest giants, treants, elven dragons, and bear-men, will join the defense, and the demigod Cenarius will also participate in the battle,” Malfurion said.
"Our side has fewer participants; it's just me, Jaina, Lady Uther, the high elf mage, and the guardian," Rhodes said.
Upon hearing this, Sal, who was on the other side, widened his eyes in disbelief.
Wait a minute, what's going on? You humans only sent 5 people? Are you kidding me? You 5 people defending one line!
In that case, the orc race would be on the first line of defense! Their plan to weaken humanity would have completely failed.
"Are you kidding me? Are you humans planning to take advantage of this?"
"This battle is for the future of all of Azeroth. We orcs will send out our elite forces, while you humans want to conserve your strength?" Thrall said, somewhat annoyed.
“Although we have fewer defenders, we are all elites among elites, and we can hold out for more than 8 hours. As for the other defensive lines, that’s none of my business,” Rhodes said with a cold snort.
“Rhodes, I know you’ve acquired a large number of troops from the Titan Guardians, and I will also summon elemental creatures to help, but the Alliance also needs to commit some troops to this defensive line,” Medivh said, looking at Rhodes.
He had already made it clear when he went to see the princess of the Lordaeron royal family that this war was a matter of life and death for the entire race, so you must give them more people.
Although Rhodes and Uther were strong, they still struggled greatly against the endless army of demons.
“Your Excellency the Guardian, according to my estimation, the Burning Legion will launch a large-scale attack tomorrow, and we humans will not be able to bring our troops over so quickly.”
"They want to cross Ashenvale to reach Mount Hyjal, which would take at least a month and a half, so there's not enough time," Rhodes said with a shrug.
I deliberately didn't bring a large army this time, in order to reduce human casualties and the losses of the entire alliance.
Anyway, it's just defending the first line of defense for 8 hours, which is something I can do.
“It doesn’t matter, as long as you hold the line for 8 hours,” Tyrande said.
In reality, when facing the Burning Legion, ordinary soldiers can only deal with some low-level demons, and even mid-level demons are no match for the rest of the demon army, which can easily defeat ordinary humans.
Besides, who knows how many tricks Rhodes has up his sleeve?
“No army will help you hold out for more than 8 hours. If you fail, our orc army will have to hold out for at least 16 hours,” Thrall said.
