Chapter 548 The Evil Batman Almost Killed Many on His First Visit
Chapter 548 The Evil Batman Nearly Killed the Multiverse on His First Visit
"It's coming, it's about to happen."
And yet, his mother is Fiji again.
Master Time had already mentally prepared himself for the fact that no matter what he did, he could only open the door to Fiji in the Dark Multiverse, the universe of the Laughing Batman.
He was just stubbornly trying again and again, like trying in vain to change the course of a cement road that had been reshaped and gradually dried up, a road whose course was almost set in stone.
"I don't think this is good, hahaha!"
"Damn it, Golden Vanguard, stop mimicking that Laughing Batman. Who are you from?" Master Time was already overwhelmed with work, and Golden Vanguard was imitating that Batman from the Dark Multiverse, which was driving him crazy.
"What I'm trying to say is, since it's already happened, do you really want to kill Batman and his monoverse to ensure the normal operation of our multiverse?"
"What? Of course not!" The Time Master stopped what he was doing and rubbed his forehead, looking a bit of a headache.
"You might have caused some misunderstanding... Do you think I'm an executioner? If Pompeii managed to avoid the volcanic eruption on its own, would I then kill everyone in the city? Do you even understand timelines?"
"Okay, I don't understand. I apologize. After all, I'm just a thief who stole high-tech from the future and went back in time to become a superhero, hehe."
The Time Master rolled his eyes in exasperation at the Golden Vanguard's grimacing face.
"I'm looking for a way to preserve that maniacal, laughing Batman and his Dark Multiverse, while also preventing the multiverse from collapsing because of his mischief! I want the best of both worlds!"
"So you've found a solution?"
"……No."
The Time Master clutched his head in anguish: "A massive chain reaction... hundreds of causal connections across different timelines, involving over 3000 people! I'm going crazy! It even involves the huge mess Hal Jordan caused!"
(Note: The major chaos mentioned by the Time Master here refers to the DC event "Zero Hour," which is what Hal did after he fell into evil in order to resurrect 700 million residents of Seaside City.)
"In my opinion, you might as well..."
"Shut up, Golden Vanguard."
"oh."
……
……
……
Since his defeat in the first crisis (Crisis on Infinite Earths), the Anti-Monitor has been trying to reverse the outcome of that battle and rewrite the reality of his victory, but he has been repeatedly thwarted.
The anti-monitors knew this was normal; the First Crisis was practically the cornerstone of the multiverse's existence, like the foundation of a house.
His desire to demolish the foundation will inevitably lead to opposition from the entire house and all the residents.
The path was winding and difficult, yet he had never before created a puppet under his control in the current timeline as he had this time.
This is a breakthrough from 0 to 1.
He would never give up this achievement.
Perhaps his previous shrewish behavior gave Batman the wrong impression, making him believe that being pushed into the positive multiverse was his greatest fear...
but……
The counter-surveillance agents waited a while.
He did not wait for the blue-haired figure to appear.
Dr. Manhattan, the thief who stole 10 years of time from the entire multiverse, orchestrated the Flashpoint event, but the Anti-Monitor knows he is merely an experimenter and will not interfere with the timeline's independent development.
Some people may be mistaken; they may think Dr. Manhattan is a superhero, but they are wrong. He is just an experimenter, a god who is high above and regards all things in the world as straw dogs.
Dr. Manhattan protects no one, saves no one, and in the context of the multiverse…
He is even evil.
Imagine someone is manipulating you and using you as an experiment. Would you think that person who treats you like a guinea pig is some kind of superhero or your savior?
Even so, the anti-surveillance activists are still worried that Dr. Manhattan might want to experiment on them.
If Dr. Manhattan were to cross the timeline and arrive in the era of the First Crisis, the Anti-Monitor could certainly fight him, but in the current timeline, with just this puppet, he would be no match for Dr. Manhattan.
Fortunately, the worst-case scenario did not occur for the counter-surveillance activists.
Then there's nothing for him to worry about.
He stared at Batman in front of him.
This guy thought heroes from the real universe would come to his aid.
That's a really wild idea.
The truth is: even in the positive universe, heroes cannot save every parallel universe that is destined for destruction.
(Note: For example, Earth 15, which was destroyed by Superman Supreme, Earth 7, which was destroyed in "The Great Earth-Symphony," and Earth 51 before Flashpoint, etc. By the way, Batman on Earth 51 killed the Joker because of the death of the second Robin, Jason Todd.)
For the entire multiverse encompassed by the Hypertime Stream, superheroes are like immune cells.
And immune cells should be used in the most important way.
For example, the main universe. For example, major events that could lead to a crisis in the multiverse: the Void Hand's invasion (The Great Symphony), Superman Supreme and Alexander Luthor Jr.'s attempt to reboot the universe (Infinite Crisis), and his Anti-Monitor's attempt to devour the positive matter universe.
Only major events that could potentially cause a catastrophic crisis for the multiverse would force the timeline to mobilize its immune system [superheroes] to save itself, rather than the destruction of a single parallel universe?
The life or death of a mere Batman from the Dark Multiverse?
And what about those dark multiverses that should have been destroyed in the first place?
No one will come; this is far from triggering a self-defense counterattack in the time-lapse.
Many people naively believe that as long as a certain condition is met, justice will be served and someone will come to save them, but that doesn't happen.
No one will come to save him.
He almost felt sorry for the Batman in front of him... almost.
Next, he will capture the severely injured Batman alive, take him back to the Dark Multiverse, hand him over to Barbatos, then casually devour two universes to fill his stomach, and then continue to plot the plan to bring the original body from upstream to the current timeline.
Nothing Batman does will change anything; he can neither change his fate of cosmic destruction nor his destiny of becoming the Barbatos Dragon.
How tragic.
The anti-surveillance agent saw Batman's face.
He wasn't in a hurry to physically assault the other party.
"Yes, you succeeded."
He said:
"You did manage to force me into a normal multiverse, out of the dark multiverse. But so what? You still can't beat me. What other tricks do you have up your sleeve?"
The anti-surveillance agent examined what Batman had pulled out.
A sealed chamber shrunk by Brainiac's Shrinking Ray, a shadow cabinet created by the Guardians of the Universe.
The anti-surveillance agents know what Batman is preparing.
"An initial Lantern Knight from the Dark Multiverse?" he said.
"You think you can deal with me just because of him?"
"He can't."
The Anti-Monitor heard Batman say that.
He began to dislike the other person's face, which seemed to never show fear.
"But I can self-destruct and then briefly delay you."
He heard Batman say, "It's no longer a temporary burst of energy like before, but a self-destructive march towards death."
"So what?" the Anti-Monitor said. "Your self-destruction is nothing to me. You're threatening me with suicide? It's useless. Even if you self-destruct and die, I can resurrect you and bring you back to Barbatos."
"You have no idea what kind of god I am. You are as ridiculous as clay toys in front of me."
For some reason, the anti-monitor suddenly felt uneasy. He decided to stop talking nonsense and pounced on Batman, grabbing his neck with one hand like he was holding a kitten.
He immediately snatched the shrunken Shadow Cabinet from Batman, but did not find the figure of the first Lantern inside.
"What happened?"
Then the countersurveillance agent heard Batman's intermittent, almost dying voice:
"But...but...by using the time difference that I create by self-destructing to delay you, the first Genie can use the Brainiac technology I gave him to take the entire Earth away."
Anti-surveillance advocate: "So what?"
The next moment, a bolt of lightning struck the anti-monitor's brain. He whirled around and saw the blue Earth behind him: "This is Earth-15! The destroyed Earth-15! You actually found this place!"
Earth-15, the home of the first Lantern. This Earth is involved in the stability of DC history and is a key node in the stability of the DC universe.
Initially, the first Lantern traveled through infinite timelines after the destruction of Earth-15, directly leading to the establishment of the Green Lantern Corps. His actions shaped the history of the DC Universe, which in turn was projected into the Dark Multiverse, creating a Dark Multiverse version of the first Lantern.
If Earth-15 had not been destroyed according to the original timeline, it would have caused the entire Green Lantern Corps to disappear into the DC universe's hyperchronic flow.
If the DC universe's hyperchronic flow is a house, and each time the timeline is rebooted, it's like adding a new layer to the house, then the existence of the Green Lantern Corps is the main load-bearing wall of this house!
What would happen if the Green Lantern Corps disappeared?
"Yes... the location of Earth-15. That's the information I read from Mobius's mind. Mobius is a part of you, he knows everything you know. And then through the Lantern of the First Generation... I really did it, that's what I've been planning all along."
(Note: For details on why the universe of the first Lantern Knight absolutely cannot survive, please refer to Chapter 401 of this book, where the foreshadowing has already been laid.)
The Anti-Monitor heard Batman say:
"I have tied my own safety to that of the entire DC multiverse."
"You deserve to die."
The anti-monitor attempted to destroy the blue planet before them, but Batman desperately held them back.
He was vomiting blood while laughing loudly and wildly:
"I knew it... I knew all along that no one would come to our aid! I knew it all along, I was used to it—the anti-surveillance agent!"
He let out a triumphant laugh, the sound echoing across the surrounding area:
"But, and I mean, if... if the heroes of the Protective Multiverse Immune System—that is, the heroes of the Normal Light Multiverse—don't come to save my Dark Multiverse..."
Then I'll choose to drag the entire DC hypertime flow down with me!
To prevent this from happening, my trans-temporal immune system will come to the rescue and help me defeat you!
"You know, hahaha—the multiverse knowing me is incredibly unlucky!"
"Let go!"
Just as the anti-monitor was about to throw a punch at Batman, he saw Batman, whose body was covered in cracks, suddenly glow white.
"Are you crazy? Do you really want to self-destruct?"
The anti-surveillance agent's expression changed for the first time.
It wasn't because Batman was going to self-destruct, but because what Batman said was true.
In the short time they had been fighting, neither Batman's feat of forcibly dragging him into the Light Multiverse with two universes, nor the suicidal sacrifices of Batman's comrades could move the Destroyer in the slightest.
He always seemed so at ease, like a god high above.
But today, at this moment, his expression changed for the first time. A look of fear appeared on the face of this god. Such an absurd thing often makes people think that it is just their own illusion.
He knew that everything Batman said was true.
Damn Möbius! That damned mortal scum!
"I will self-destruct, but not actually." Then he heard Batman say, "If I self-destruct now, it will achieve what I described, ultimately resulting in the survival of 15 Earths and the annihilation of the Green Lantern Corps...!"
"...And Earth-15 is absolutely destined for destruction. If that happens, the entire Green Light system will collapse. Therefore, in order to maintain the balance of its own trans-temporal flow, the multiverse will definitely send its most powerful immune system! So someone will definitely come to stop me from saving Earth-15, and you..."
"No!"
The Antimonitor roared, brandishing the glow of the Anti-Life Equation with more urgency and terror than ever before, but he could no longer stop what was about to happen.
He's been preparing for so long!
He had expended so much effort and paid so much to Barbatos; this was very likely his only chance!
But it was too late, really too late.
Endless portals, shining like stars, appeared behind Batman, while the multiverse army soared high.
Chen Tao raised his head and raised his hand, and then a multiverse army surged out of the portal like a tide.
An embodiment of justice, a multiverse of superhumans... The immune system surges, roars, and shouts at the tiny viruses that dare to invade the heart when he's not paying attention.
The countersurveillance agent heard Batman breathing heavily...
"Listen, you treat us like clay puppets, but in the face of higher-dimensional beings, you are nothing more than a tiny insect that can be crushed at will."
"Or, to be more specific..."
Chen Tao swung his fist with all his might, and although it was already weak and powerless, he still managed to smash it into the face of the anti-surveillance person:
"You're just a long-defeated relic, and you—you actually still think of yourself as the Möbius who devoured an infinite universe of positive matter??"
Then he released the anti-monitor's body; he no longer had the strength to hold on to the other, and he felt himself falling.
He saw the light from those portals.
More superheroes are arriving here through the portal.
You never give up. You cross mountains and seas, and eventually, a ray of light in this world will shine upon you.
You know, the world only becomes a better place when you force him...
……
……
……
"Where have I been transported to? Is this hellhole still part of the multiverse?"
The Supreme Little Superman travels through the vast parallel universes.
He didn't know where the road ahead lay.
"I'm done!"
Superman's rage is escalating wildly! Escalating wildly! Escalating wildly!
Wherever he went, he was surrounded by either white or pitch black, and he was furious to the extreme.
If there were a blue planet in front of him right now, all he would do is throw a punch and smash that damn planet to pieces!
"what?"
He suddenly noticed that the purple light ring on his hand had started to light up again.
"Anti-Monitor! Batman! I'm going to fucking smash you all to pieces!!!"
(The next chapter will feature the superheroes from the Bright Multiverse! Although there's no Justice League from the main universe, there is the canonical Batman.)
