Chapter 272 Three-Day Countdown, The End of the Traitor
Chapter 272 Three-Day Countdown, The End of the Traitor
When Supergirl Kara walked down the corridor leading to the Hall of Justice and arrived at the small meeting room connected to the corridor in front of the conference room, she saw four people sitting together.
The Flash, Barry Allen; Martian Manhunter, John Jones; and Wonder Woman, Diana Prince.
They sat together, chatting in a very relaxed atmosphere. The Flash, using his super speed, was simultaneously playing chess with Martian Manhunter and playing Street Fighter IV on the screen with Wonder Woman.
As Kara approached them, Wonder Woman's Chun-Li (a playable character in Street Fighter IV) was defeated by Ken, controlled by The Flash, who precisely parried every attack.
"Hey, that's not fair!" Diana threw down the controller.
"Hmm..." The Flash vanished from his spot, then reappeared in front of Martian Manhunter's chessboard, moved a piece, and then, with a burrito in his mouth, sat back down on the sofa diagonally opposite Wonder Woman.
"How so? Daigo Umemoto, the god of fighting games, can execute a proper parry in 0.2 seconds, but I am 1000 times faster than him."
(Note: Daigo Umezono is a real person.)
"Again!" Wonder Woman declared. "In Hera's name, I won't keep losing!"
This relaxed atmosphere made Supergirl Kara feel slightly at ease.
It seems that he has not yet been exposed and is still a key member of the Justice League, Batman's Robin, treated like a teammate.
But she still decided to test the waters.
After greeting the people sitting outside, Kara instinctively wanted to push open the door and walk into the conference room, but then she realized that it would seem too tense. So she chatted with the three people outside for a few minutes before finding an excuse to walk into the main conference room.
Firstly, to assess the situation, and secondly, to find the other two accomplices.
Then she saw that in the huge drawing room...only Batman was sitting there...
It was as if a swirling, rampant shadow was licking its claws on the main seat.
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
It was as if silent drumbeats were pounding heavily on her mind; Kara's heart was racing, and a chill ran from her tailbone straight to her head.
But in an instant, Batman turned around, and the somewhat suffocating atmosphere vanished without a trace.
"Kara, are you alright?"
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"The meeting hasn't started yet, but there's some food. Are you hungry?"
"No, it's okay."
"How about some of Alfred's concoctions? They'll be refreshing and invigorating. A glass of honey black tea sparkling water with mint will make you feel better."
"Okay." Kara's gaze swept over the drinks on the small table next to her.
She flew over and poured herself a glass.
While pouring tea, Kara silently analyzed Batman's performance.
In those few short seconds of question-and-answer, Batman's attitude seemed to be a bit impatient because his thinking was interrupted, but also showed some concern. He was just responding casually and in a very natural state, without anything unusual.
"I'll wait outside." Carla then left, relieved.
Before long, the other members of the Justice League arrived sporadically. Supergirl Kara and Cyborg exchanged a glance, silently confirming each other's safety.
"...Everyone, I'd like to introduce you to a new member..."
"Arthur Curry, King of the Seven Seas!"
"He will be..."
"Teamwork training for everyone..."
"A coordinated strategy using the scoundrels as the backbone of the attack formation..."
The supergirl sat in her seat, offering no opinion. She silently gathered the information revealed at the meeting.
The meeting was uneventful, consisting of routine matters of the alliance, but she knew this was just an appetizer; everyone hadn't gathered here for these things.
As expected, the meeting quickly got to the main topic:
"...The three Mother Boxes have been completely collected...As for the plan to trap Steppenwolf..."
Supergirl Kara didn't make eye contact with the robotic superhero, but they both knew what was going to happen.
The targets that Batman and his team recruited were not Steppenwolf alone, but the monsters released from the Eternal Vault by Mite and Steppenwolf's entire Parademon army.
At a crucial moment, three spies lurking within the Justice League—Supergirl, Cyborg, and Billy's father, C.C. Batson—will suddenly launch a surprise attack on some of the league's strongest members, causing the entire plan to collapse.
Even if Batman manages to single-handedly withstand the backstabbing of three people and forcefully defeat the combined forces of Mite and Steppenwolf, the entire Justice League and Batman himself will likely be exhausted. At that point, they will activate their backup plan with the Outsider, using the Father Box in the Outsider's possession to summon Darkseid to Earth...
Don't forget, the [Father Box] was personally retrieved from the Eternal Cellar sealed by the Wizard Council and handed over to the [Outsider]. How could he not have tampered with it?
The outsider's original idea of not wanting to summon Darkseid was destined to fail.
Everything is for Darkseid. Darkseid will descend directly to Earth and destroy all enemies who dare to oppose him.
More than 10 minutes later.
The meeting had ended, and Kara was leaving the Hall of Justice to return to her room when she heard Batman's voice calling through her earpiece, prompting her to turn back into the meeting room.
Everyone in the conference room had left. Kara pushed open the door and saw that, apart from herself, only Green Lantern Hal, Martian Manhunter John Jones, Wonder Woman Diana Prince, and Batman were in the entire conference room.
Batman sat there, looking utterly distressed.
Kara realized that the conversation was becoming somewhat casual, so she deliberately adopted a relaxed demeanor.
Batman, on the other hand, seemed more at ease: "Now that Kara is here, our little meeting can begin."
Let me put it this way: everyone who was present was someone I trusted the most.
Three days left. Three days until we lure the Steppenwolf and take care of it. But before that, we have another important task to perform.
Kara pricked up her ears.
"You should know about the Grud and the Tortoise Man. I've kept them around because they were one of the keys to our victory."
Kara wasn't stupid enough to ask a silly question like, "Why are they the key to our victory?" If Batman wasn't telling her the reason, it meant he wanted to keep it a secret.
Even if you ask at this point, you'll be brushed off, and Batman will think you don't meet his expectations.
So Kara wisely chose the normal reaction that Batman's successor would most like to see: remain silent.
"Of course, of course, there's also a machine called a lightning rod. This thing is just as important, right? We need to hide it somewhere that Steppenwolves and the others absolutely cannot find, even in the Red of All Beings isn't safe enough."
"so……?"
"So our target is Ismoth. A reliable hiding place provided by Green Lantern Hal," Kara heard Batman say.
"We'll hide our key to victory there."
Kara extracted the keywords.
"The key to victory"?
This means that...
Bronze Dragon: The Tyrant's Path to Conquest
"Do not let the bronze dragons who pursue absolute order become rulers. Their aversion to chaos will turn them into tyrants a thousand times more terrifying than evil dragons. In order to maintain the order they believe in, they do not even mind using methods such as massacring cities or even wiping out an entire race to maintain their rule."
—The Wise One, Friedrich Quinn
Those who dare to disobey my orders will be destroyed!
—The ruler of the seven seas, the overlord of the deep-sea races, the shadow of calamity soaring above the coastal nations, the immortal tyrant, Diriel Aurelion Nazdormu.
